2010-08-02ata_piix: fix locking around SIDPR accessTejun Heo1-0/+8
SIDPR window registers are shared across ports and as each access is done in two steps, accesses to different ports under EH may race. This primarily is caused by incorrect host locking in EH context and should be fixed by defining locking requirements for each EH operation which can be used during EH and enforcing them but for now work around the problem by adding a dedicated SIDPR lock and grabbing it for each SIDPR access. Commit 1529c69adc (ata_generic: implement ATA_GEN_* flags and force enable DMA on MBP 7,1) implemented ATA_GEN_FORCE_DMA for forcing DMA mode and applied it to CENATEK but forgot to remove the original hard coded logic. This is removal of redundant logic and doesn't affect correctness. 2010-08-02ahci_platform: Remove unneeded ahci_driver.probe assignmentAnton Vorontsov1-1/+0
The driver is using platform_driver_probe() during initialization, so ahci_driver.probe hook is never used. But it causes the following (harmless, luckily) section mismatch: WARNING: vmlinux.o(.data+0x2fb20): Section mismatch in reference from the variable ahci_driver to the function .init.text:ahci_probe() This patch removes the ahci_driver.probe assignment, thus fixes the warning. p.s. Note that there's another patch[1] from Rene Bolldorf that tried to solve the same issue by __refdata annotation. __refdata says that this reference is actually OK, but in fact it is not OK, because dereferencing .probe() will cause problems. So the proper fix is to remove the assignment. Some AHCI implementations may use Vendor Specific HBA[A0h, FFh] and/or Port[70h, 7Fh] registers to 'prepare' for initialization. For that, the platform needs memory mapped address of AHCI registers. 2010-07-31cyber2000fb: fix machine hang on module loadOndrej Zary1-0/+2
I was testing two CyberPro 2000 based PCI cards on x86 and the machine always hanged completely when the cyber2000fb module was loaded. It seems that the card hangs when some registers are accessed too quickly after writing RAMDAC control register. With this patch, both card work. Acked-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com> In TPS6507x, depending on the status of DEFDCDC{2,3} pin either DEFDCDC{2,3}_LOW or DEFDCDC{2,3}_HIGH register needs to be read or programmed to change the output voltage. The current driver assumes DEFDCDC{2,3} pins are always tied low and thus operates only on DEFDCDC{2,3}_LOW register. This need not always be the case (as is found on OMAP-L138 EVM). Unfortunately, software cannot read the status of DEFDCDC{2,3} pins. So, this information is passed through platform data depending on how the board is wired. Commit 0ede76fcec5415ef82a423a95120286895822e2d, "USB: remove uses of URB_NO_SETUP_DMA_MAP" introduced a regression by inadvertantly removing initialization of the transfer flags. This caused initialization failures in the ums-karma driver. Fix the regression by zeroing it. While at it, as Alan Stern points out, the initializers for actual_length and status are handled by the core and error_count only matters for isochronous urbs, so they don't need to be set here. 2010-07-26USB: xhci: Set Mult field in endpoint context correctly.Sarah Sharp1-2/+3
The bmAttributes field of the SuperSpeed Endpoint Companion Descriptor has different meanings, depending on the endpoint type. If the endpoint is isochronous, the bmAttributes field is the maximum number of packets within a service interval that this endpoint supports. If the endpoint is bulk, it's the number of stream IDs this endpoint supports. Only set the Mult field of the xHCI endpoint context using the bmAttributes field if the endpoint is isochronous, and the device is a SuperSpeed device. When an attempt is made to read the interface strings of the Artisman Watchdog USB dongle (idVendor:idProduct 04b4:0526) an error is written to the dmesg log (uhci_result_common: failed with status 440000) and the dongle resets itself, resulting in a disconnect/reconnect loop. Adding the dongle to the list of devices in quirks.c, with the same quirk Alan Stern's previous patch for the Saitek Cyborg Gold 3D joystick, stops the device from resetting and allows it to be used with no problems.
