commit a01421e4484327fe44f8e126793ed5a48a221e24 upstream.
Using [1] for static analysis I found that the OMAPFB_QUERY_PLANE,
OMAPFB_GET_COLOR_KEY, OMAPFB_GET_DISPLAY_INFO, and OMAPFB_GET_VRAM_INFO
cases could all leak uninitialized stack memory--either due to
uninitialized padding or 'reserved' fields.
Fix them by clearing the shared union used to store copied out data.

commit 2122b40580dd9d0620398739c773d07a7b7939d0 upstream.
When unregistering fbdev using unregister_framebuffer(), any bound
console will unbind automatically. This is working fine if this is the
only framebuffer, resulting in a switch to the dummy console. However if
there is a fb0 and I unregister fb1 having a bound console, I eventually
get a crash. The fastest way for me to trigger the crash is to do a
reboot, resulting in this splat:

The problem is in the console rebinding in fbcon_fb_unbind(). It uses the
virtual console index as the new framebuffer index to bind the console(s)
to. The correct way is to use the con2fb_map lookup table to find the
framebuffer index.

commit f75df8d4b4fabfad7e3cba2debfad12741c6fde7 upstream.
Blitting an image with "negative" offsets is not working since there
is no clipping. It hopefully just crashes. For the bootup logo, there
is protection so that blitting does not happen as the image is drawn
further and further to the right (ROTATE_UR) or further and further
down (ROTATE_CW). There is however no protection when drawing in the
opposite directions (ROTATE_UD and ROTATE_CCW).
Add back this protection.
The regression is 20-odd years old but the mindless warning-killing
mentality displayed in commit 34bdb666f4b2 ("fbdev: fbmem: remove
positive test on unsigned values") is also to blame, methinks.

commit c09bcc91bb94ed91f1391bffcbe294963d605732 upstream.
Reading the registers without waiting for engine idle returns
unpredictable values. These unpredictable values result in display
corruption - if atyfb_imageblit reads the content of DP_PIX_WIDTH with the
bit DP_HOST_TRIPLE_EN set (from previous invocation), the driver would
never ever clear the bit, resulting in display corruption.
We don't want to wait for idle because it would degrade performance, so
this patch modifies the driver so that it never reads accelerator
registers.
HOST_CNTL doesn't have to be read, we can just write it with
HOST_BYTE_ALIGN because no other part of the driver cares if
HOST_BYTE_ALIGN is set.
DP_PIX_WIDTH is written in the functions atyfb_copyarea and atyfb_fillrect
with the default value and in atyfb_imageblit with the value set according
to the source image data.

commit 3c6c6a7878d00a3ac997a779c5b9861ff25dfcc8 upstream.
The code for manual bit triple is not endian-clean. It builds the variable
"hostdword" using byte accesses, therefore we must read the variable with
"le32_to_cpu".
The patch also enables (hardware or software) bit triple only if the image
is monochrome (image->depth). If we want to blit full-color image, we
shouldn't use the triple code.

commit 76ebebd2464c5c8a4453c98b6dbf9c95a599e810 upstream.
On Sun Ultra 5, it happens that the dot clock is not set up properly for
some videomodes. For example, if we set the videomode "r1024x768x60" in
the firmware, Linux would incorrectly set a videomode with refresh rate
180Hz when booting (suprisingly, my LCD monitor can display it, although
display quality is very low).
The reason is this: Older mach64 cards set the divider in the register
VCLK_POST_DIV. The register has four 2-bit fields (the field that is
actually used is specified in the lowest two bits of the register
CLOCK_CNTL). The 2 bits select divider "1, 2, 4, 8". On newer mach64 cards,
there's another bit added - the top four bits of PLL_EXT_CNTL extend the
divider selection, so we have possible dividers "1, 2, 4, 8, 3, 5, 6, 12".
The Linux driver clears the top four bits of PLL_EXT_CNTL and never sets
them, so it can work regardless if the card supports them. However, the
sparc64 firmware may set these extended dividers during boot - and the
mach64 driver detects incorrect dot clock in this case.
This patch makes the driver read the additional divider bit from
PLL_EXT_CNTL and calculate the initial refresh rate properly.

commit 1bafcbf59fed92af58955024452f45430d3898c5 upstream.
OMAPFB_MEMORY_READ ioctl reads pixels from the LCD's memory and copies
them to a userspace buffer. The code has two issues:
- The user provided width and height could be large enough to overflow
the calculations
- The copy_to_user() can copy uninitialized memory to the userspace,
which might contain sensitive kernel information.
Fix these by limiting the width & height parameters, and only copying
the amount of data that we actually received from the LCD.

commit 2c29cfc3eaf11779176bf41475cfca49bccba11c upstream.
The defio subsystem overwrites the method fb_osp->mmap. That method is

commit 564f1807379298dfdb12ed0d5b25fcb89c238527 upstream.
The udlfb driver reprograms the hardware everytime the user switches the
console, that makes quite unusable when working on the console.
This patch makes the driver remember the videomode we are in and avoid
reprogramming the hardware if we switch to the same videomode.
We mask the "activate" field and the "FB_VMODE_SMOOTH_XPAN" flag when
comparing the videomode, because they cause spurious switches when
switching to and from the Xserver.

commit 4e705e17ce3409a1f492cfd5dadcf6a4f6075842 upstream.
The displaylink hardware has such a peculiarity that it doesn't render a
command until next command is received. This produces occasional
corruption, such as when setting 22x11 font on the console, only the first
line of the cursor will be blinking if the cursor is located at some
specific columns.
When we end up with a repeating pixel, the driver has a bug that it leaves
one uninitialized byte after the command (and this byte is enough to flush
the command and render it - thus it fixes the screen corruption), however
whe we end up with a non-repeating pixel, there is no byte appended and
this results in temporary screen corruption.
This patch fixes the screen corruption by always appending a byte 0xAF at
the end of URB. It also removes the uninitialized byte.

commit 9d0aa601e4cd9c0892f90d36e8488d79b72f4073 upstream.
I observed that the performance of the udl fb driver degrades over time.
On a freshly booted machine, it takes 6 seconds to do "ls -la /usr/bin";
after some time of use, the same operation takes 14 seconds.
The reason is that the value of "limit_sem" decays over time.
The udl driver uses a semaphore "limit_set" to specify how many free urbs
are there on dlfb->urbs.list. If the count is zero, the "down" operation
will sleep until some urbs are added to the freelist.
In order to avoid some hypothetical deadlock, the driver will not call
"up" immediately, but it will offload it to a workqueue. The problem is
that if we call "schedule_delayed_work" on the same work item multiple
times, the work item may only be executed once.
This is happening:
* some urb completes
* dlfb_urb_completion adds it to the free list
* dlfb_urb_completion calls schedule_delayed_work to schedule the function
dlfb_release_urb_work to increase the semaphore count
* as the urb is on the free list, some other task grabs it and submits it
* the submitted urb completes, dlfb_urb_completion is called again
* dlfb_urb_completion calls schedule_delayed_work, but the work is already
scheduled, so it does nothing
* finally, dlfb_release_urb_work is called, it increases the semaphore
count by 1, although it should increase it by 2
So, the semaphore count is decreasing over time, and this causes gradual
performance degradation.
Note that in the current kernel, the "up" function may be called from
interrupt and it may race with the "down" function called by another
thread, so we don't have to offload the call of "up" to a workqueue at
all. This patch removes the workqueue code. The patch also changes
"down_interruptible" to "down" in dlfb_free_urb_list, so that we will
clean up the driver properly even if a signal arrives.
With this patch, the performance of udlfb no longer degrades.

commit 8c5b044299951acd91e830a688dd920477ea1eda upstream.
I have a USB display adapter using the udlfb driver and I use it on an ARM
board that doesn't have any graphics card. When I plug the adapter in, the
console is properly displayed, however when I unplug and re-plug the
adapter, the console is not displayed and I can't access it until I reboot
the board.
The reason is this:
When the adapter is unplugged, dlfb_usb_disconnect calls
unlink_framebuffer, then it waits until the reference count drops to zero
and then it deallocates the framebuffer. However, the console that is
attached to the framebuffer device keeps the reference count non-zero, so
the framebuffer device is never destroyed. When the USB adapter is plugged
again, it creates a new device /dev/fb1 and the console is not attached to
it.
This patch fixes the bug by unbinding the console from unlink_framebuffer.
The code to unbind the console is moved from do_unregister_framebuffer to
a function unbind_console. When the console is unbound, the reference
count drops to zero and the udlfb driver frees the framebuffer. When the
adapter is plugged back, a new framebuffer is created and the console is
attached to it.

commit 1bde9f2cf142b726412fa5b0e3cb557ff46952b0 upstream.
I got a bunch of warnings in a randconfig build:
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_LICENSE() in drivers/video/fbdev/omap/lcd_ams_delta.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_LICENSE() in drivers/video/fbdev/omap/lcd_inn1510.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_LICENSE() in drivers/video/fbdev/omap/lcd_palmte.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_LICENSE() in drivers/video/fbdev/omap/lcd_palmtt.o
These come from an earlier patch of mine that turned all display drivers
into separate modules. The fix is to add a MODULE_LICENSE tag. Since I'm
doing that, adding a description and author field also makes sense. I
went by the authors listed in the comment at the top of each file, but
removed Imre's Nokia email address that I assume is not valid any more,
since Imre is working at Intel these days.

commit 9cb18db0701f6b74f0c45c23ad767b3ebebe37f6 upstream.
Fix child-node lookup during probe, which ended up searching the whole
device tree depth-first starting at the parent rather than just matching

To make things worse, the parent display node was also prematurely
freed.
Note that the display and timings node references are never put after a
successful dt-initialisation so the nodes would leak on later probe
deferrals and on driver unbind.

sbusfb_ioctl_helper().
commit 250c6c49e3b68756b14983c076183568636e2bde upstream.
Fixing arbitrary kernel leak in case FBIOGETCMAP_SPARC in
sbusfb_ioctl_helper().
'index' is defined as an int in sbusfb_ioctl_helper().
We retrieve this from the user:
if (get_user(index, &c->index) ||
__get_user(count, &c->count) ||
__get_user(ured, &c->red) ||
__get_user(ugreen, &c->green) ||
__get_user(ublue, &c->blue))
return -EFAULT;
and then we use 'index' in the following way:
red = cmap->red[index + i] >> 8;
green = cmap->green[index + i] >> 8;
blue = cmap->blue[index + i] >> 8;
This is a classic information leak vulnerability. 'index' should be
an unsigned int, given its usage above.
This patch is straight-forward; it changes 'index' to unsigned int
in two switch-cases: FBIOGETCMAP_SPARC && FBIOPUTCMAP_SPARC.

commit 06168a64b1ae346816fcd0a0c3ea5276c778408b upstream.
In the lm3630a_chip_init we try to write to 0x50 register, which is
higher value then the max_register value, this resulted in regmap_write
return -EIO.
Fix this by bumping REG_MAX value to 0x50.
This code was introduced with the chip revision in commit 28e64a68a2ef,
however setting filter strength was failing silently because it used
unsigned int for storing and comparing the return values. Bug related to
signedness was fixed in 2a0c316bf3cc, which made it error out correctly
instead of failing silently.
I found this issue by using this driver on LGE Nexus 5 (hammerhead).
After this commit lm3630a_chip_init succeeds instead of failing with
-EIO.

commit 9c8ee3c7341393811d5be5eb61b815e76f92c799 upstream.
Commit 7edaa761ee81b ("video: mx3fb: Add backlight control support")
changed the mx3fb driver so it always selects the BACKLIGHT_CLASS_DEVICE
symbol, but that is hidden behind BACKLIGHT_LCD_SUPPORT in Kconfig, so
we get a Kconfig warning for multi_v5_defconfig, which doesn't have that:
Warning: (DRM_RADEON && DRM_NOUVEAU && DRM_I915 && DRM_GMA500 &&
DRM_SHMOBILE && DRM_TILCDC && FB_BACKLIGHT && FB_MX3 && USB_APPLEDISPLAY

EEEPC_LAPTOP && ACPI_CMPC && SAMSUNG_Q10) selects BACKLIGHT_CLASS_DEVICE
which has unmet direct dependencies (HAS_IOMEM && BACKLIGHT_LCD_SUPPORT)
This makes sure we always enable both symbols together for mx3fb, like
we do for the other drivers that can't be built without backlight
support. Note that a better solution would be to ensure the driver can
work with or without backlight support.

commit d50b3f43db739f03fcf8c0a00664b3d2fed0496e upstream.
When using efifb with a 16-bit (5:6:5) visual, fbcon's text is rendered
in the wrong colors - e.g. text gray (#aaaaaa) is rendered as green
(#50bc50) and neighboring pixels have slightly different values
(such as #50bc78).
The reason is that fbcon loads its 16 color palette through
efifb_setcolreg(), which in turn calculates a 32-bit value to write
into memory for each palette index.
Until now, this code could only handle 8-bit visuals and didn't mask
overlapping values when ORing them.
With this patch, fbcon displays the correct colors when a qemu VM is
booted in 16-bit mode (in GRUB: "set gfxpayload=800x600x16").

commit 13aa38e291bdd4e4018f40dd2f75e464814dcbf3 upstream.
The Xen framebuffer driver selects the xen keyboard driver, so the latter
will be built-in if XEN_FBDEV_FRONTEND=y. However, when CONFIG_INPUT
is a loadable module, this configuration cannot work. On mainline kernels,
the symbol will be enabled but not used, while in combination with
a patch I have to detect such useless configurations, we get the
expected link failure:
drivers/input/built-in.o: In function `xenkbd_remove':
xen-kbdfront.c:(.text+0x2f0): undefined reference to `input_unregister_device'
xen-kbdfront.c:(.text+0x30e): undefined reference to `input_unregister_device'
This removes the extra "select", as it just causes more trouble than
it helps. In theory, some defconfig file might break if it has
XEN_FBDEV_FRONTEND in it but not INPUT_XEN_KBDDEV_FRONTEND. The Kconfig
fragment we ship in the kernel (kernel/configs/xen.config) however
already enables both, and anyone using an old .config file would
keep having both enabled.

commit 92b004d1aa9f367c372511ca0330f58216b25703 upstream.
If the probe of an fb driver has been deferred due to missing
dependencies, and the probe is later ran when a module is loaded, the
fbdev framework will try to find a logo to use.
However, the logos are __initdata, and have already been freed. This
causes sometimes page faults, if the logo memory is not mapped,
sometimes other random crashes as the logo data is invalid, and
sometimes nothing, if the fbdev decides to reject the logo (e.g. the
random value depicting the logo's height is too big).
This patch adds a late_initcall function to mark the logos as freed. In
reality the logos are freed later, and fbdev probe may be ran between
this late_initcall and the freeing of the logos. In that case we will
miss drawing the logo, even if it would be possible.

commit f74a289b9480648a654e5afd8458c2263c03a1e1 upstream.
The framebuffer code uses the current background color to fill the border
when switching consoles, however, this results in inconsistent behavior.
For example:
- start Midnigh Commander
- the border is black
- switch to another console and switch back
- the border is cyan
- type something into the command line in mc
- the border is cyan
- switch to another console and switch back
- the border is black
- press F9 to go to menu
- the border is black
- switch to another console and switch back
- the border is dark blue
When switching to a console with Midnight Commander, the border is random
color that was left selected by the slang subsystem.
This patch fixes this inconsistency by always using black as the
background color when switching consoles.

commit 5b789da8a7fc357661fc61faaf853e9161cc9700 upstream.
The function bitcpy_rev has a bug that may result in screen corruption.
The bug happens under these conditions:
* the end of the destination area of a copy operation is aligned on a long
word boundary
* the end of the source area is not aligned on a long word boundary
* we are copying more than one long word
In this case, the variable shift is non-zero and the variable first is
zero. The statements FB_WRITEL(comp(d0, FB_READL(dst), first), dst) reads
the last long word of the destination and writes it back unchanged
(because first is zero). Correctly, we should write the variable d0 to the
last word of the destination in this case.
This patch fixes the bug by introducing and extra test if first is zero.
The patch also removes the references to fb_memmove in the code that is
commented out because fb_memmove was removed from framebuffer subsystem.

commit 20cde694027e7477cc532833e38ab9fcaa83fb64 upstream.
Commit b4aa0163056b ("efifb: Implement vga_default_device() (v2)") added
efifb vga_default_device() so EFI systems that do not load shadow VBIOS or
setup VGA get proper value for boot_vga PCI sysfs attribute on the
corresponding PCI device.
Xorg doesn't detect devices when boot_vga=0, e.g., on some EFI systems such
as MacBookAir2,1. Xorg detects the GPU and finds the DRI device but then
bails out with "no devices detected".
Note: When vga_default_device() is set boot_vga PCI sysfs attribute
reflects its state. When unset this attribute is 1 whenever
IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW flag is set.
With introduction of sysfb/simplefb/simpledrm efifb is getting obsolete
while having native drivers for the GPU also makes selecting sysfb/efifb
optional.
Remove the efifb implementation of vga_default_device() and initialize
vgaarb's vga_default_device() with the PCI GPU that matches boot
screen_info in pci_fixup_video().
