2023-10-25usb: musb: Modify the "HWVers" register addressXingxing Luo1-1/+1
commit 6658a62e1ddf726483cb2d8bf45ea3f9bd533074 upstream. musb HWVers rgister address is not 0x69, if we operate the wrong address 0x69, it will cause a kernel crash, because there is no register corresponding to this address in the additional control register of musb. In fact, HWVers has been defined in musb_register.h, and the name is "MUSB_HWVERS", so We need to use this macro instead of 0x69. commit 33d7e37232155aadebe4145dcc592f00dabd7a2b upstream. When multiple threads are performing USB transmission, musb->lock will be unlocked when musb_giveback is executed. At this time, qh may be released in the dequeue process in other threads, resulting in a wild pointer, so it needs to be here get qh again, and judge whether qh is NULL, and when dequeue, you need to set qh to NULL. [ Upstream commit edd60d24bd858cef165274e4cd6cab43bdc58d15 ] Currently if we bootup a device without cable connected, then usb-conn-gpio won't call set_role() since last_role is same as current role. This happens because during probe last_role gets initialised to zero. To avoid this, added a new constant in enum usb_role, last_role is set to USB_ROLE_UNKNOWN before performing initial detection. While at it, also handle default case for the usb_role switch in cdns3, intel-xhci-usb-role-switch & musb/jz4740 to avoid build warnings. [ Upstream commit ecec4b20d29c3d6922dafe7d2555254a454272d2 ] The checks for musb->xceiv and musb->xceiv->set_power duplicate those in usb_phy_set_power(), so there is no need of them. Moreover, not calling usb_phy_set_power() results in usb_phy_set_charger_current() not being called, so current USB config max current is not propagated through USB charger framework and charger drivers may try to draw more current than allowed or possible. Fix that by removing those extra checks and calling usb_phy_set_power() directly. If the endpoint is idle and it is the first request then it invokes musb_queue_resume_work(). If the function returns an error then the error is passed to the caller without any clean-up and the request remains enqueued on the list. If the caller enqueues the request again then the list corrupts. Remove the request from the list on error. Commit 7c75bde329d7 ("usb: musb: musb_dsps: request_irq() after initializing musb") has inverted the calls to dsps_setup_optional_vbus_irq() and dsps_create_musb_pdev() without updating correctly the error path. dsps_create_musb_pdev() allocates and registers a new platform device which must be unregistered and freed with platform_device_unregister(), and this is missing upon dsps_setup_optional_vbus_irq() error. While on the master branch it seems not to trigger any issue, I observed a kernel crash because of a NULL pointer dereference with a v5.10.70 stable kernel where the patch mentioned above was backported. With this kernel version, -EPROBE_DEFER is returned the first time dsps_setup_optional_vbus_irq() is called which triggers the probe to error out without unregistering the platform device. Unfortunately, on the Beagle Bone Black Wireless, the platform device still living in the system is being used by the USB Ethernet gadget driver, which during the boot phase triggers the crash. My limited knowledge of the musb world prevents me to revert this commit which was sent to silence a robot warning which, as far as I understand, does not make sense. The goal of this patch was to prevent an IRQ to fire before the platform device being registered. I think this cannot ever happen due to the fact that enabling the interrupts is done by the ->enable() callback of the platform musb device, and this platform device must be already registered in order for the core or any other user to use this callback. Hence, I decided to fix the error path, which might prevent future errors on mainline kernels while also fixing older ones. In commit 92af4fc6ec33 ("usb: musb: Fix suspend with devices connected for a64"), the logic to support the MUSB_QUIRK_B_DISCONNECT_99 quirk was modified to only conditionally schedule the musb->irq_work delayed work. This commit badly breaks ECM Gadget on AM335X. Indeed, with this commit, one can observe massive packet loss: $ ping 192.168.0.100 ... 15 packets transmitted, 3 received, 80% packet loss, time 14316ms Reverting this commit brings back a properly functioning ECM Gadget. An analysis of the commit seems to indicate that a mistake was made: the previous code was not falling through into the MUSB_QUIRK_B_INVALID_VBUS_91, but now it is, unless the condition is taken. 2021-03-04usb: musb: Fix runtime PM race in musb_queue_resume_workPaul Cercueil1-14/+17
commit 0eaa1a3714db34a59ce121de5733c3909c529463 upstream. musb_queue_resume_work() would call the provided callback if the runtime PM status was 'active'. Otherwise, it would enqueue the request if the hardware was still suspended (musb->is_runtime_suspended is true). This causes a race with the runtime PM handlers, as it is possible to be in the case where the runtime PM status is not yet 'active', but the hardware has been awaken (PM resume function has been called). When hitting the race, the resume work was not enqueued, which probably triggered other bugs further down the stack. For instance, a telnet connection on Ingenic SoCs would result in a 50/50 chance of a segmentation fault somewhere in the musb code. Rework the code so that either we call the callback directly if (musb->is_runtime_suspended == 0), or enqueue the query otherwise. Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1] (or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings (e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized, either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes. In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining needless uses with the following script: git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \ xargs perl -pi -e \ 's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g; s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;' drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid pathological white-space. No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0 for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64, alpha, and m68k. 2020-05-25usb: musb: return -ESHUTDOWN in urb when three-strikes error happenedBin Liu1-2/+8
When a USB device attached to a hub got disconnected, MUSB controller generates RXCSR_RX_ERROR interrupt for the 3-strikes-out error. Currently the MUSB host driver returns -EPROTO in current URB, then the USB device driver could immediately resubmit the URB which causes MUSB generate RXCSR_RX_ERROR interrupt again. This circle causes interrupt storm then the hub never got a chance to report the USB device detach. To fix the interrupt storm, change the URB return code to -ESHUTDOWN for MUSB_RXCSR_H_ERROR interrupt, so that the USB device driver will not immediately resubmit the URB. 2020-03-17usb: musb: fix crash with highmen PIO and usbmonMans Rullgard1-12/+5
When handling a PIO bulk transfer with highmem buffer, a temporary mapping is assigned to urb->transfer_buffer. After the transfer is complete, an invalid address is left behind in this pointer. This is not ordinarily a problem since nothing touches that buffer before the urb is released. However, when usbmon is active, usbmon_urb_complete() calls (indirectly) mon_bin_get_data() which does access the transfer buffer if it is set. To prevent an invalid memory access here, reset urb->transfer_buffer to NULL when finished (musb_host_rx()), or do not set it at all (musb_host_tx()). The DaVinci MUSB glue contains an optional GPIO line to control VBUS power, convert this to use a GPIO descriptor and augment the EVM board file to provide this descriptor. I can't get this driver to compile properly and it depends on broken but when I didn get it to compile brokenly, it did at least not complain about THIS code being broken so I don't think I broke the driver any more than what it already is. I did away with the ifdefs that do not work with multiplatform anyway so the day someone decides to resurrect the code, the path to get it working should be easier as well since DaVinci is now multiplatform.
