[ Upstream commit 8bdcf96eb135aebacac319667f87db034fb38406 ]
Currently, ffs_epfile_release unconditionally frees the endpoint's
read_buffer when a file descriptor is closed. If userspace explicitly
opens the endpoint multiple times and closes one, the read_buffer is
destroyed. This can lead to silent data loss if other file descriptors
are still actively reading from the endpoint.
By tying the lifetime of the read_buffer to the ffs_epfile structure itself
(which is destroyed when the functionfs instance is torn down in
ffs_epfiles_destroy), we eliminate the brittle dependency on open/release
calls while correctly matching the conceptual lifetime of unread data on
the hardware endpoint.

[ Upstream commit 3137b243c93982fe3460335e12f9247739766e10 ]
ffs_fs_kill_sb() unconditionally calls cancel_work_sync() on
ffs->reset_work when a functionfs instance is unmounted:
ffs_data_reset(ffs);
cancel_work_sync(&ffs->reset_work);
However ffs->reset_work is only ever initialized via INIT_WORK() in
ffs_func_set_alt() and ffs_func_disable(), and only on the
FFS_DEACTIVATED path. That state is reached solely by ffs_data_closed()
when the instance is mounted with the "no_disconnect" option, so for the
common case (no "no_disconnect", or mounted and unmounted without ever
being deactivated) reset_work is never initialized.
ffs_data_new() allocates the ffs_data with kzalloc_obj() and does not
initialize reset_work, and ffs_data_reset()/ffs_data_clear() do not touch
it either, so reset_work.func is left NULL. cancel_work_sync() on such a
work then trips the WARN_ON(!work->func) guard in __flush_work():
WARNING: kernel/workqueue.c:4301 at __flush_work+0x330/0x360, CPU#3: umount

On older kernels cancel_work_sync() on a zero-initialized work struct was
a silent no-op, which hid the missing initialization.
Initialize reset_work once in ffs_data_new() so it is always valid for
the lifetime of the ffs_data, and drop the now-redundant INIT_WORK()
calls from the two deactivation paths.

printer_open() returns -EBUSY when the character device is already
open, but it increments dev->kref regardless of the return value. VFS
does not call ->release() for a failed open, so every rejected second
open permanently leaks one reference.

hidg_alloc() initializes hidg->dev with device_initialize() before
calling dev_set_name(). If dev_set_name() fails, the function currently
jumps to err_unlock and returns without calling put_device().
This leaves the device reference unbalanced and prevents hidg_release()
from being called. Calling put_device() here is also safe, since
hidg_release() only frees resources owned by hidg.
The issue was identified by a static analysis tool I developed and
confirmed by manual review.
Route the dev_set_name() failure path through err_put_device so the
device reference is dropped properly.

commit c088d5dd2fffb4de1fb8e7f57751c8b82942180a upstream.
A broken/bored/mean USB host can overflow the skb_shared_info->frags[]
array on a Linux gadget exposing a Phonet function by sending an
unbounded sequence of full-page OUT transfers.
pn_rx_complete() finalizes the skb only when req->actual < req->length,
where req->length is set to PAGE_SIZE by the gadget. If the host always
sends exactly PAGE_SIZE bytes per transfer, fp->rx.skb will never be
reset and each completion will add another fragment via
skb_add_rx_frag(). Once nr_frags exceeds MAX_SKB_FRAGS (default 17),
subsequent frag stores overwrite memory adjacent to the shinfo on the
heap.
Drop the skb and account a length error when the frag limit is reached,
matching the fix applied in t7xx by commit f0813bcd2d9d ("net: wwan:

commit 8f993d30b95dc9557a8a96ceca11abed674c8acb upstream.
The block_len read from the host-supplied NTB header is checked against
ntb_max but has no lower bound. When block_len is smaller than
opts->ndp_size, the bounds check of:
ndp_index > (block_len - opts->ndp_size)
will underflow producing a huge unsigned value that ndp_index can never
exceed, defeating the check entirely.
The same underflow occurs in the datagram index checks against block_len
- opts->dpe_size. With those checks neutered, a malicious USB host can
choose ndp_index and datagram offsets that point past the actual
transfer, and the skb_put_data() copies adjacent kernel memory into the
network skb.
Fix this by rejecting block lengths that cannot hold at least the NTB
header plus one NDP. This will make block_len - opts->ndp_size and
block_len - opts->dpe_size both well-defined.

[ Upstream commit eba2936bbe6b752a31725a9eb5c674ecbf21ee7d ]
Commit b81ac4395bbe ("usb: gadget: uvc: allow for application to cleanly
shutdown") introduced two stages of synchronization waits totaling 1500ms
in uvc_function_unbind() to prevent several types of kernel panics.
However, this timing-based approach is insufficient during power
management (PM) transitions.
When the PM subsystem starts freezing user space processes, the
wait_event_interruptible_timeout() is aborted early, which allows the
unbind thread to proceed and nullify the gadget pointer
(cdev->gadget = NULL):

already nullified gadget pointer, triggering a kernel panic:

Address the race condition and NULL pointer dereference by:
1. State Synchronization (flag + mutex)
Introduce a 'func_unbound' flag in struct uvc_device. This allows
uvc_function_disconnect() to safely skip accessing the nullified
cdev->gadget pointer. As suggested by Alan Stern, this flag is protected
by a new mutex (uvc->lock) to ensure proper memory ordering and prevent
instruction reordering or speculative loads. This mutex is also used to
protect 'func_connected' for consistent state management.
2. Explicit Synchronization (completion)
Use a completion to synchronize uvc_function_unbind() with the
uvc_vdev_release() callback. This prevents Use-After-Free (UAF) by
ensuring struct uvc_device is freed after all video device resources
are released.

[ Upstream commit e1eabb072c75681f78312c484ccfffb7430f206e ]
A race condition between gether_disconnect() and eth_stop() leads to a
NULL pointer dereference. Specifically, if eth_stop() is triggered
concurrently while gether_disconnect() is tearing down the endpoints,
eth_stop() attempts to access the cleared endpoint descriptor, causing
the following NPE:

Because eth_stop() crashes while holding the dev->lock, the thread
running gether_disconnect() fails to acquire the same lock and spins
forever, resulting in a hardlockup:

composite_setup+0x6a0/0xc50
The root cause is that the clearing of dev->port_usb in
gether_disconnect() is delayed until the end of the function.
Move the clearing of dev->port_usb to the very beginning of
gether_disconnect() while holding dev->lock. This cuts off the link
immediately, ensuring eth_stop() will see dev->port_usb as NULL and
safely bail out.

[ Upstream commit 4e0a88254ad59f6c53a34bf5fa241884ec09e8b2 ]
There was an issue when you did the following:
- setup and bind an hid gadget
- open /dev/hidg0
- use the resulting fd in EPOLL_CTL_ADD
- unbind the UDC
- bind the UDC
- use the fd in EPOLL_CTL_DEL
When CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST was enabled, a list_del corruption was reported
within remove_wait_queue (via ep_remove_wait_queue). After some
debugging I found out that the queues, which f_hid registers via
poll_wait were the problem. These were initialized using
init_waitqueue_head inside hidg_bind. So effectively, the bind function
re-initialized the queues while there were still items in them.
The solution is to move the initialization from hidg_bind to hidg_alloc
to extend their lifetimes to the lifetime of the function instance.
Additionally, I found many other possibly problematic init calls in the
bind function, which I moved as well.

commit 6e0e34d85cd46ceb37d16054e97a373a32770f6c upstream.
f_audio_complete() copies req->length bytes into a 4-byte stack
variable:
u32 data = 0;
memcpy(&data, req->buf, req->length);
req->length is derived from the host-controlled USB request path,
which can lead to a stack out-of-bounds write.
Validate req->actual against the expected payload size for the
supported control selectors and decode only the expected amount
of data.
This avoids copying a host-influenced length into a fixed-size

[ Upstream commit b9fde507355342a2d64225d582dc8b98ff5ecb19 ]
The `tpg->tpg_nexus` pointer in the USB Target driver is dynamically
managed and tied to userspace configuration via ConfigFS. It can be
NULL if the USB host sends requests before the nexus is fully
established or immediately after it is dropped.
Currently, functions like `bot_submit_command()` and the data
transfer paths retrieve `tv_nexus = tpg->tpg_nexus` and immediately
dereference `tv_nexus->tvn_se_sess` without any validation. If a
malicious or misconfigured USB host sends a BOT (Bulk-Only Transport)
command during this race window, it triggers a NULL pointer
dereference, leading to a kernel panic (local DoS).
This exposes an inconsistent API usage within the module, as peer
functions like `usbg_submit_command()` and `bot_send_bad_response()`
correctly implement a NULL check for `tv_nexus` before proceeding.
Fix this by bringing consistency to the nexus handling. Add the
missing `if (!tv_nexus)` checks to the vulnerable BOT command and
request processing paths, aborting the command gracefully with an
error instead of crashing the system.

commit e4f5ce990818d37930cd9fb0be29eee0553c59d9 upstream.
The existing code did not handle the failure case of usb_ep_queue in the
command path, potentially leading to memory leaks.
Improve error handling to free all allocated resources on usb_ep_queue
failure. This patch continues to use goto logic for error handling, as the
existing error handling is complex and not easily adaptable to auto-cleanup
helpers.

[ Upstream commit 956606bafb5fc6e5968aadcda86fc0037e1d7548 ]
This fix is already present in f_ecm.c and was never
propagated to f_ncm.c
When creating multiple NCM ethernet devices
on a composite usb gadget device
each MAC address on the HOST side will be identical.
Having the same MAC on different network interfaces is bad.
This fix updates the MAC address inside the
ncm_strings_defs global during the ncm_bind call.
This ensures each device has a unique MAC.
In f_ecm.c ecm_string_defs is updated in the same way.
The defunct MAC assignment in ncm_alloc has been removed.

commit cfd6f1a7b42f62523c96d9703ef32b0dbc495ba4 upstream.
A race condition occurs when ffs_func_eps_enable() runs concurrently
with ffs_data_reset(). The ffs_data_clear() called in ffs_data_reset()
sets ffs->epfiles to NULL before resetting ffs->eps_count to 0, leading
to a NULL pointer dereference when accessing epfile->ep in
ffs_func_eps_enable() after successful usb_ep_enable().
The ffs->epfiles pointer is set to NULL in both ffs_data_clear() and
ffs_data_close() functions, and its modification is protected by the
spinlock ffs->eps_lock. And the whole ffs_func_eps_enable() function
is also protected by ffs->eps_lock.
Thus, add NULL pointer handling for ffs->epfiles in the
ffs_func_eps_enable() function to fix issues

commit c529c3730bd09115684644e26bf01ecbd7e2c2c9 upstream.
A race condition occurs when gs_start_io() calls either gs_start_rx() or
gs_start_tx(), as those functions briefly drop the port_lock for
usb_ep_queue(). This allows gs_close() and gserial_disconnect() to clear
port.tty and port_usb, respectively.
Use the null-safe TTY Port helper function to wake up TTY.
Example
CPU1: CPU2:
gserial_connect() // lock
gs_close() // await lock
gs_start_rx() // unlock
usb_ep_queue()
gs_close() // lock, reset port.tty and unlock
gs_start_rx() // lock
tty_wakeup() // NPE

[ Upstream commit 153874010354d050f62f8ae25cbb960c17633dc5 ]
The variable tpgt in usbg_make_tpg() is defined as unsigned long and is
assigned to tpgt->tport_tpgt, which is defined as u16. This may cause an
integer overflow when tpgt is greater than USHRT_MAX (65535). I
haven't tried to trigger it myself, but it is possible to trigger it
by calling usbg_make_tpg() with a large value for tpgt.
I modified the type of tpgt to match tpgt->tport_tpgt and adjusted the
relevant code accordingly.
This patch is similar to commit 59c816c1f24d ("vhost/scsi: potential

commit fe7f7ac8e0c708446ff017453add769ffc15deed upstream.
Update struct hid_descriptor to better reflect the mandatory and
optional parts of the HID Descriptor as per USB HID 1.11 specification.
Note: the kernel currently does not parse any optional HID class
descriptors, only the mandatory report descriptor.
Update all references to member element desc[0] to rpt_desc.
Add test to verify bLength and bNumDescriptors values are valid.
Replace the for loop with direct access to the mandatory HID class
descriptor member for the report descriptor. This eliminates the
possibility of getting an out-of-bounds fault.
Add a warning message if the HID descriptor contains any unsupported
optional HID class descriptors.

[ Upstream commit 8653d71ce3763aedcf3d2331f59beda3fecd79e4 ]
Currently a tasklet is used to transmit input substream buffer
data. However, tasklets have long been deprecated as being too
heavy on the system by running in irq context - and this is not
a performance critical path. If a higher priority process wants
to run, it must wait for the tasklet to finish before doing so.
Deferring work to a workqueue and executing in process context
should be fine considering the callback already does
f_midi_do_transmit() under the transmit_lock and thus changes in
semantics are ok regarding concurrency - tasklets being serialized
against itself.

commit da1668997052ed1cb00322e1f3b63702615c9429 upstream.
While the MIDI jacks are configured correctly, and the MIDIStreaming
endpoint descriptors are filled with the correct information,
bNumEmbMIDIJack and bLength are set incorrectly in these descriptors.
This does not matter when the numbers of in and out ports are equal, but
when they differ the host will receive broken descriptors with
uninitialized stack memory leaking into the descriptor for whichever
value is smaller.
The precise meaning of "in" and "out" in the port counts is not clearly
defined and can be confusing. But elsewhere the driver consistently
uses this to match the USB meaning of IN and OUT viewed from the host,
so that "in" ports send data to the host and "out" ports receive data
from it.

commit dfc51e48bca475bbee984e90f33fdc537ce09699 upstream.
This commit addresses an issue related to below kernel panic where
panic_on_warn is enabled. It is caused by the unnecessary use of WARN_ON
in functionsfs_bind, which easily leads to the following scenarios.
1.adb_write in adbd 2. UDC write via configfs
================= =====================
->usb_ffs_open_thread() ->UDC write
->open_functionfs() ->configfs_write_iter()
->adb_open() ->gadget_dev_desc_UDC_store()
->adb_write() ->usb_gadget_register_driver_owner
->driver_register()
->StartMonitor() ->bus_add_driver()
->adb_read() ->gadget_bind_driver()

->usb_add_function()
->open_functionfs() ->ffs_func_bind()
->adb_open() ->functionfs_bind()
<ffs->state !=FFS_ACTIVE>
The adb_open, adb_read, and adb_write operations are invoked from the
daemon, but trying to bind the function is a process that is invoked by
UDC write through configfs, which opens up the possibility of a race
condition between the two paths. In this race scenario, the kernel panic
occurs due to the WARN_ON from functionfs_bind when panic_on_warn is
enabled. This commit fixes the kernel panic by removing the unnecessary
WARN_ON.

Considering that in some extreme cases,

gs_free_requests(port->port_usb->in) spin_unlock(&port->port_lock)
Crash
This causes thread A to access a null pointer (port->port_usb is null)
when calling the gs_free_requests function, causing a crash.
If port_usb is NULL, the release request will be skipped as it
will be done by gserial_disconnect.

which are opened after USB suspend can start IO while resuming.
But if the port was already opened, and gadget suspend kicks in

dwc3_gadget_soft_disconnect() ...
--> dwc3_stop_active_transfers()
--> dwc3_gadget_giveback(-ESHUTDOWN)
--> ffs_epfile_async_io_complete() ffs_aio_cancel()
--> usb_ep_free_request() --> usb_ep_dequeue()
There is currently no locking implemented between the AIO completion
handler and AIO cancel, so the issue occurs if the completion routine is
running in parallel to an AIO cancel call coming from the FFS application.
As the completion call frees the USB request (io_data->req) the FFS
application is also referencing it for the usb_ep_dequeue() call. This can
lead to accessing a stale/hanging pointer.
commit b566d38857fc ("usb: gadget: f_fs: use io_data->status consistently")
relocated the usb_ep_free_request() into ffs_epfile_async_io_complete().
However, in order to properly implement locking to mitigate this issue, the
spinlock can't be added to ffs_epfile_async_io_complete(), as
usb_ep_dequeue() (if successfully dequeuing a USB request) will call the
function driver's completion handler in the same context. Hence, leading
into a deadlock.
Fix this issue by moving the usb_ep_free_request() back to
ffs_user_copy_worker(), and ensuring that it explicitly sets io_data->req
to NULL after freeing it within the ffs->eps_lock. This resolves the race
condition above, as the ffs_aio_cancel() routine will not continue
attempting to dequeue a request that has already been freed, or the
ffs_user_copy_work() not freeing the USB request until the AIO cancel is
done referencing it.

If the USB driver passes a pointer into the TRB buffer for creq, this

commit f90ce1e04cbcc76639d6cba0fdbd820cd80b3c70 upstream.
While connecting to a Linux host with CDC_NCM_NTB_DEF_SIZE_TX
set to 65536, it has been observed that we receive short packets,
which come at interval of 5-10 seconds sometimes and have block
length zero but still contain 1-2 valid datagrams present.
According to the NCM spec:
"If wBlockLength = 0x0000, the block is terminated by a
short packet. In this case, the USB transfer must still
be shorter than dwNtbInMaxSize or dwNtbOutMaxSize. If
exactly dwNtbInMaxSize or dwNtbOutMaxSize bytes are sent,
and the size is a multiple of wMaxPacketSize for the
given pipe, then no ZLP shall be sent.
wBlockLength= 0x0000 must be used with extreme care, because
of the possibility that the host and device may get out of
sync, and because of test issues.
wBlockLength = 0x0000 allows the sender to reduce latency by
starting to send a very large NTB, and then shortening it when
the sender discovers that there’s not sufficient data to justify
sending a large NTB"
However, there is a potential issue with the current implementation,
as it checks for the occurrence of multiple NTBs in a single
giveback by verifying if the leftover bytes to be processed is zero
or not. If the block length reads zero, we would process the same
NTB infintely because the leftover bytes is never zero and it leads
to a crash. Fix this by bailing out if block length reads zero.

commit 76c51146820c5dac629f21deafab0a7039bc3ccd upstream.
It is observed sometimes when tethering is used over NCM with Windows 11
as host, at some instances, the gadget_giveback has one byte appended at
the end of a proper NTB. When the NTB is parsed, unwrap call looks for
any leftover bytes in SKB provided by u_ether and if there are any pending
bytes, it treats them as a separate NTB and parses it. But in case the
second NTB (as per unwrap call) is faulty/corrupt, all the datagrams that
were parsed properly in the first NTB and saved in rx_list are dropped.
Adding a few custom traces showed the following:
[002] d..1 7828.532866: dwc3_gadget_giveback: ep1out:
req 000000003868811a length 1025/16384 zsI ==> 0

[002] d..1 7828.532869: ncm_unwrap_ntb: K: Parsed NTB with 1 frames
In this case, the giveback is of 1025 bytes and block length is 1024.
The rest 1 byte (which is 0x00) won't be parsed resulting in drop of
all datagrams in rx_list.
Same is case with packets of size 2048:
[002] d..1 7828.557948: dwc3_gadget_giveback: ep1out:
req 0000000011dfd96e length 2049/16384 zsI ==> 0

[002] d..1 7828.557950: ncm_unwrap_ntb: K: ncm_unwrap_ntb blk_len: 0x800
Lecroy shows one byte coming in extra confirming that the byte is coming
in from PC:
Transfer 2959 - Bytes Transferred(1025) Timestamp((18.524 843 590)
- Transaction 8391 - Data(1025 bytes) Timestamp(18.524 843 590)

--- Packet 4063863
Data(1 byte)
Duration(66.160ns) Time(282.000ns) Timestamp(18.524 845 722)
According to Windows driver, no ZLP is needed if wBlockLength is non-zero,
because the non-zero wBlockLength has already told the function side the
size of transfer to be expected. However, there are in-market NCM devices
that rely on ZLP as long as the wBlockLength is multiple of wMaxPacketSize.
To deal with such devices, it pads an extra 0 at end so the transfer is no
longer multiple of wMaxPacketSize.

When write UDC to empty and unbind gadget driver from gadget device, it is
possible that there are many queue failures for mass storage function.
The root cause is mass storage main thread alaways try to queue request to
receive a command from host if running flag is on, on platform like dwc3,
if pull down called, it will not queue request again and return
-ESHUTDOWN, but it not affect running flag of mass storage function.
Check return code from mass storage function and clear running flag if it
is -ESHUTDOWN, also indicate start in/out transfer failure to break loops.

[ Upstream commit a04224da1f3424b2c607b12a3bd1f0e302fb8231 ]
Previously, gadget assignment to the net device occurred exclusively
during the initial binding attempt.
Nevertheless, the gadget pointer could change during bind/unbind
cycles due to various conditions, including the unloading/loading
of the UDC device driver or the detachment/reconnection of an
OTG-capable USB hub device.
This patch relocates the gether_set_gadget() function out from
ncm_opts->bound condition check, ensuring that the correct gadget
is assigned during each bind request.
The provided logs demonstrate the consistency of ncm_opts throughout
the power cycle, while the gadget may change.

commit 427694cfaafa565a3db5c5ea71df6bc095dca92f upstream.
When NCM is used with hosts like Windows PC, it is observed that there are
multiple NTB's contained in one usb request giveback. Since the driver
unwraps the obtained request data assuming only one NTB is present, we
loose the subsequent NTB's present resulting in data loss.
Fix this by checking the parsed block length with the obtained data
length in usb request and continue parsing after the last byte of current
NTB.
