clang static analysis reports this problem: qla_nx2.c:694:3: warning: 6th function call argument is an uninitialized value ql_log(ql_log_fatal, vha, 0xb090, ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In qla8044_poll_reg(), when reading the reg fails, the error is reported by reusing the timeout error reporter. Because the value is unset, a garbage value will be reported. Initialize the value. Casting a pointer to void * and relying on an implicit cast from void * to uint16_t or uint32_t suppresses sparse warnings about endianness. Hence cast explicitly to uint16_t and uint32_t. Additionally, remove superfluous void * casts. This patch fixes the following Coverity complaint: Unintentional integer overflow (OVERFLOW_BEFORE_WIDEN) overflow_before_widen: Potentially overflowing expression dma_eng_num * 65536U with type unsigned int (32 bits, unsigned) is evaluated using 32-bit arithmetic, and then used in a context that expects an expression of type uint64_t (64 bits, unsigned).
