2024-03-06of: property: fw_devlink: Fix stupid bug in remote-endpoint parsingSaravana Kannan1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 7cb50f6c9fbaa1c0b80100b8971bf13db5d75d06 ] Introduced a stupid bug in commit 782bfd03c3ae ("of: property: Improve finding the supplier of a remote-endpoint property") due to a last minute incorrect edit of "index !=0" into "!index". This patch fixes it to be "index > 0" to match the comment right next to it. 2024-02-23of: property: Add in-ports/out-ports support to of_graph_get_port_parent()Saravana Kannan1-1/+3
commit 8f1e0d791b5281f3a38620bc7c57763dc551be15 upstream. Similar to the existing "ports" node name, coresight device tree bindings have added "in-ports" and "out-ports" as standard node names for a collection of ports. Add support for these name to of_graph_get_port_parent() so that remote-endpoint parsing can find the correct parent node for these coresight ports too. [ Upstream commit 782bfd03c3ae2c0e6e01b661b8e18f1de50357be ] After commit 4a032827daa8 ("of: property: Simplify of_link_to_phandle()"), remote-endpoint properties created a fwnode link from the consumer device to the supplier endpoint. This is a tiny bit inefficient (not buggy) when trying to create device links or detecting cycles. So, improve this the same way we improved finding the consumer of a remote-endpoint property. 2024-02-23of: property: Improve finding the consumer of a remote-endpoint propertySaravana Kannan1-37/+10
[ Upstream commit f4653ec9861cd96a1a6a3258c4a807898ee8cf3c ] We have a more accurate function to find the right consumer of a remote-endpoint property instead of searching for a parent with compatible string property. So, use that instead. While at it, make the code to find the consumer a bit more flexible and based on the property being parsed. [ Upstream commit 607aad1e4356c210dbef9022955a3089377909b2 ] If CONFIG_OF_KOBJ is not set, a device_node does not contain a kobj and attempts to access the embedded kobj via kref_read break the compile. Replace affected kref_read calls with a macro that reads the refcount if it exists and returns 1 if there is no embedded kobj. 2024-01-26of: Fix double free in of_parse_phandle_with_args_mapChristian A. Ehrhardt3-32/+53
[ Upstream commit 4dde83569832f9377362e50f7748463340c5db6b ] In of_parse_phandle_with_args_map() the inner loop that iterates through the map entries calls of_node_put(new) to free the reference acquired by the previous iteration of the inner loop. This assumes that the value of "new" is NULL on the first iteration of the inner loop. Make sure that this is true in all iterations of the outer loop by setting "new" to NULL after its value is assigned to "cur". Extend the unittest to detect the double free and add an additional test case that actually triggers this path. 2023-11-28of: address: Fix address translation when address-size is greater than 2Herve Codina1-2/+28
[ Upstream commit 42604f8eb7ba04b589375049cc76282dad4677d2 ] With the recent addition of of_pci_prop_ranges() in commit 407d1a51921e ("PCI: Create device tree node for bridge"), the ranges property can have a 3 cells child address, a 3 cells parent address and a 2 cells child size. A range item property for a PCI device is filled as follow: <BAR_nbr> 0 0 <phys.hi> <phys.mid> <phys.low> <BAR_sizeh> <BAR_sizel> <-- Child --> <-- Parent (PCI definition) --> <- BAR size (64bit) --> This allow to translate BAR addresses from the DT. For instance: pci@0,0 { #address-cells = <0x03>; #size-cells = <0x02>; device_type = "pci"; compatible = "pci11ab,100", "pciclass,060400", "pciclass,0604"; ranges = <0x82000000 0x00 0xe8000000 0x82000000 0x00 0xe8000000 0x00 0x4400000>; ... dev@0,0 { #address-cells = <0x03>; #size-cells = <0x02>; compatible = "pci1055,9660", "pciclass,020000", "pciclass,0200"; /* Translations for BAR0 to BAR5 */ ranges = <0x00 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xe8000000 0x00 0x2000000 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xea000000 0x00 0x1000000 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xeb000000 0x00 0x800000 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xeb800000 0x00 0x800000 0x04 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xec000000 0x00 0x20000 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x82010000 0x00 0xec020000 0x00 0x2000>; ... pci-ep-bus@0 { #address-cells = <0x01>; #size-cells = <0x01>; compatible = "simple-bus"; /* Translate 0xe2000000 to BAR0 and 0xe0000000 to BAR1 */ ranges = <0xe2000000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x2000000 0xe0000000 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x1000000>; ... }; }; }; During the translation process, the "default-flags" map() function is used to select the matching item in the ranges table and determine the address offset from this matching item. This map() function simply calls of_read_number() and when address-size is greater than 2, the map() function skips the extra high address part (ie part over 64bit). This lead to a wrong matching item and a wrong offset computation. Also during the translation itself, the extra high part related to the parent address is not present in the translated address. Fix the "default-flags" map() and translate() in order to take into account the child extra high address part in map() and the parent extra high address part in translate() and so having a correct address translation for ranges patterns such as the one given in the example above. 2023-08-24of: unittest: Cleanup partially-applied overlaysGeert Uytterhoeven1-48/+84
When of_overlay_fdt_apply() fails, the changeset may be partially applied, and the caller is still expected to call of_overlay_remove() to clean up this partial state. However, overlay_17 is the only test that takes care of cleaning up after an (expected) failure. Instead of adding cleanup code to each individual test, extend overlay_info with the optional expected return value of of_overlay_remove(), and handle cleanup in the overlay_data_apply() helper. 2023-08-24of: overlay: Call of_changeset_init() earlyGeert Uytterhoeven1-2/+1
When of_overlay_fdt_apply() fails, the changeset may be partially applied, and the caller is still expected to call of_overlay_remove() to clean up this partial state. However, of_overlay_apply() calls of_resolve_phandles() before init_overlay_changeset(). Hence if the overlay fails to apply due to an unresolved symbol, the overlay_changeset.cset.entries list is still uninitialized, and cleanup will crash with a NULL-pointer dereference in overlay_removal_is_ok(). 2023-08-22of: overlay: Extend of_overlay_fdt_apply() to specify the target nodeLizhi Hou2-12/+33
Currently, in an overlay fdt fragment, it needs to specify the exact location in base DT. In another word, when the fdt fragment is generated, the base DT location for the fragment is already known. There is new use case that the base DT location is unknown when fdt fragment is generated. For example, the add-on device provide a fdt overlay with its firmware to describe its downstream devices. Because it is add-on device which can be plugged to different systems, its firmware will not be able to know the overlay location in base DT. Instead, the device driver will load the overlay fdt and apply it to base DT at runtime. In this case, of_overlay_fdt_apply() needs to be extended to specify the target node for device driver to apply overlay fdt. int overlay_fdt_apply(..., struct device_node *base); Signed-off-by: Lizhi Hou <lizhi.hou@amd.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1692120000-46900-5-git-send-email-lizhi.hou@amd.com Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>
