2022-07-07NFC: nxp-nci: Don't issue a zero length i2c_master_read()Michael Walle1-0/+3
commit eddd95b9423946aaacb55cac6a9b2cea8ab944fc upstream. There are packets which doesn't have a payload. In that case, the second i2c_master_read() will have a zero length. But because the NFC controller doesn't have any data left, it will NACK the I2C read and -ENXIO will be returned. In case there is no payload, just skip the second i2c master read. [ Upstream commit 8a4d480702b71184fabcf379b80bf7539716752e ] Similar to the handling of play_deferred in commit 19cfe912c37b ("Bluetooth: btusb: Fix memory leak in play_deferred"), we thought a patch might be needed here as well. Currently usb_submit_urb is called directly to submit deferred tx urbs after unanchor them. So the usb_giveback_urb_bh would failed to unref it in usb_unanchor_urb and cause memory leak. Put those urbs in tx_anchor to avoid the leak, and also fix the error handling. One is a check for minimum packet length, and the other is for a valid aid_tag. If either condition is true (fails), then an error should be triggered. The fix is to change && to ||. nfcmrvl_nci_unregister_dev to avoid bugs commit d270453a0d9ec10bb8a802a142fb1b3601a83098 upstream. There are destructive operations such as nfcmrvl_fw_dnld_abort and gpio_free in nfcmrvl_nci_unregister_dev. The resources such as firmware, gpio and so on could be destructed while the upper layer functions such as nfcmrvl_fw_dnld_start and nfcmrvl_nci_recv_frame is executing, which leads to double-free, use-after-free and null-ptr-deref bugs. There are three situations that could lead to double-free bugs. If we deallocate firmware struct, gpio or set null to the members of priv->fw_dnld in nfcmrvl_nci_unregister_dev, then, we dereference firmware, gpio or the members of priv->fw_dnld in nfcmrvl_fw_dnld_start, the UAF or NPD bugs will happen. This patch reorders destructive operations after nci_unregister_device in order to synchronize between cleanup routine and firmware download routine. The nci_unregister_device is well synchronized. If the device is detaching, the firmware download routine will goto error. If firmware download routine is executing, nci_unregister_device will wait until firmware download routine is finished. 2021-11-02nfc: port100: fix using -ERRNO as command type maskKrzysztof Kozlowski1-2/+2
commit 2195f2062e4cc93870da8e71c318ef98a1c51cef upstream. During probing, the driver tries to get a list (mask) of supported command types in port100_get_command_type_mask() function. The value is u64 and 0 is treated as invalid mask (no commands supported). The function however returns also -ERRNO as u64 which will be interpret as valid command mask. Return 0 on every error case of port100_get_command_type_mask(), so the probing will stop. 2020-03-11nfc: pn544: Fix occasional HW initialization failureDmitry Osipenko1-0/+1
[ Upstream commit c3331d2fe3fd4d5e321f2467d01f72de7edfb5d0 ] The PN544 driver checks the "enable" polarity during of driver's probe and it's doing that by turning ON and OFF NFC with different polarities until enabling succeeds. It takes some time for the hardware to power-down, and thus, to deassert the IRQ that is raised by turning ON the hardware. Since the delay after last power-down of the polarity-checking process is missed in the code, the interrupt may trigger immediately after installing the IRQ handler (right after the checking is done), which results in IRQ handler trying to touch the disabled HW and ends with marking NFC as 'DEAD' during of the driver's probe: pn544_hci_i2c 1-002a: NFC: nfc_en polarity : active high pn544_hci_i2c 1-002a: NFC: invalid len byte shdlc: llc_shdlc_recv_frame: NULL Frame -> link is dead This patch fixes the occasional NFC initialization failure on Nexus 7 device. This could lead to the driver hanging on probe due to a malfunctioning (or malicious) device until the device is physically disconnected. While sleeping in probe the driver prevents other devices connected to the same hub from being added to (or removed from) the bus. An arbitrary limit of five seconds should be more than enough. It's amazing that this driver ever worked, but now that x86 doesn't allow USB data to be sent off of the stack, it really does not work at all. Fix this up by properly allocating the data for the small "commands" that get sent to the device off of the stack. We do this for one command by having a whole urb just for ack messages, as they can be submitted in interrupt context, so we can not use usb_bulk_msg(). But the poweron command can sleep (and does), so use usb_bulk_msg() for that transfer. Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. This reverts commit ab714817d7e891608d31f6996b1e4c43cf2bf342. The original commit was designed to handle a bug in the trf7970a NFC controller where an extra byte was returned in Read Multiple Blocks (RMB) command responses. However, it has become less clear whether it is a bug in the trf7970a or in the tag. In addition, it was assumed that the extra byte was always returned but it turns out that is not always the case. The result is that a byte of good data is trimmed off when the extra byte is not present ultimately causing the neard deamon to fail the read. Since the trf7970a driver does not have the context to know when to trim the byte or not, remove the code from the trf7970a driver all together (and move it up to the neard daemon). This has the added benefit of simplifying the kernel driver and putting the extra complexity into userspace. In order to make GPIO ACPI library stricter prepare users of gpiod_get_index() to correctly behave when there no mapping is provided by firmware. Here we add explicit mapping between _CRS GpioIo() resources and their names used in the driver.
