2024-01-07net: phy: at803x: add support for cdt cross short test for qca808xChristian Marangi1-17/+69
QCA808x PHY Family supports Cable Diagnostic Test also for Cross Pair Short. Add all the define to make enable and support these additional tests. Cross Short test was previously disabled by default, this is now changed and enabled by default. In this mode, the mask changed a bit and length is shifted based on the fault condition. 2024-01-07net: ethernet: cortina: Drop TSO supportLinus Walleij1-13/+2
The recent change to allow large frames without hardware checksumming slotted in software checksumming in the driver if hardware could not do it. This will however upset TSO (TCP Segment Offloading). Typical error dumps includes this: skb len=2961 headroom=222 headlen=66 tailroom=0 (...) WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 956 at net/core/dev.c:3259 skb_warn_bad_offload+0x7c/0x108 gemini-ethernet-port: caps=(0x0000010000154813, 0x00002007ffdd7889) And the packets do not go through. The TSO implementation is bogus: a TSO enabled driver must propagate the skb_shinfo(skb)->gso_size value to the TSO engine on the NIC. Drop the size check and TSO offloading features for now: this needs to be fixed up properly. After this ethernet works fine on Gemini devices with a direct connected PHY such as D-Link DNS-313. Also tested to still be working with a DSA switch using the Gemini ethernet as conduit interface. Although the link is up, there is no ip assigned on setups with high background traffic. Nothing is transmitted nor received. The RX error count keeps on increasing. After several minutes, the RX error count stagnates and the GigE interface finally gets an ip. The issue is that mlxbf_gige_rx_init() is called before phy_start(). As soon as the RX DMA is enabled in mlxbf_gige_rx_init(), the RX CI reaches the max of 128, and becomes equal to RX PI. RX CI doesn't decrease since the code hasn't ran phy_start yet. 2024-01-05net: dsa: bcm_sf2: drop priv->master_mii_dnVladimir Oltean2-4/+3
There used to be a of_node_put(priv->master_mii_dn) call in bcm_sf2_mdio_unregister(), which was accidentally deleted in commit 6ca80638b90c ("net: dsa: Use conduit and user terms"). But it's not needed - we don't need to hold a reference on the "brcm,unimac-mdio" OF node for that long, since we don't do anything with it. We can release it as soon as we finish bcm_sf2_mdio_register(). Also reduce "if (err && dn)" to just "if (err)". We know "dn", aka the former priv->master_mii_dn, is non-NULL. Otherwise, of_mdio_find_bus(dn) would not have been able to find the bus behind "brcm,unimac-mdio". 2024-01-05net: dsa: bcm_sf2: stop assigning an OF node to the ds->user_mii_busVladimir Oltean1-1/+0
The bcm_sf2 driver does something strange. Instead of calling of_mdiobus_register() with an OF node argument, it manually assigns the bus->dev->of_node and then calls the non-OF mdiobus_register(). This circumvents some code from __of_mdiobus_register() from running, which sets the auto-scan mask, parses some device tree properties, etc. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the OF node isn't, in fact, needed at all, and can be removed. The MDIO diversion as initially implemented in commit 461cd1b03e32 ("net: dsa: bcm_sf2: Register our slave MDIO bus") looked quite different than it is now, after commit 771089c2a485 ("net: dsa: bcm_sf2: Ensure that MDIO diversion is used"). Initially, it made sense, as bcm_sf2 was registering another set of driver ops for the "brcm,unimac-mdio" OF node. But now, it deletes all phandles, which makes "phy-handle"s unable to find PHYs, which means that it always goes through the OF-unaware dsa_user_phy_connect(). __of_mdiobus_register() already calls __mdiobus_register() if the OF node provided as argument is NULL. 2024-01-05net: dsa: qca8k: assign ds->user_mii_bus only for the non-OF caseVladimir Oltean3-4/+6
To simplify reasoning about why the DSA framework provides the ds->user_mii_bus functionality, drivers should only use it if they need to. The qca8k driver appears to also use it simply as storage for a pointer, which is not a good enough reason to make the core much more difficult to follow. ds->user_mii_bus is useful for only 2 cases: 1. The driver probes on platform_data (no OF) 2. The driver probes on OF, but there is no OF node for the MDIO bus. It is unclear if case (1) is supported with qca8k. It might not be: the driver might crash when of_device_get_match_data() returns NULL and then it dereferences priv->info without NULL checking. Anyway, let us limit the ds->user_mii_bus usage only to the above cases, and not assign it when an OF node is present. The bus->phy_mask assignment follows along with the movement, because __of_mdiobus_register() overwrites this bus field anyway. The value set by the driver only matters for the non-OF code path. 2024-01-05net: dsa: qca8k: skip MDIO bus creation if its OF node has status = "disabled"Vladimir Oltean1-3/+5
Currently the driver calls the non-OF devm_mdiobus_register() rather than devm_of_mdiobus_register() for this case, but it seems to rather be a confusing coincidence, and not a real use case that needs to be supported. If the device tree says status = "disabled" for the MDIO bus, we shouldn't need an MDIO bus at all. Instead, just exit as early as possible and do not call any MDIO API. 2024-01-05net: dsa: qca8k: put MDIO bus OF node on qca8k_mdio_register() failureVladimir Oltean1-5/+16
of_get_child_by_name() gives us an OF node with an elevated refcount, which should be dropped when we're done with it. This is so that, if (of_node_check_flag(node, OF_DYNAMIC)) is true, the node's memory can eventually be freed. There are 2 distinct paths to be considered in qca8k_mdio_register(): - devm_of_mdiobus_register() succeeds: since commit 3b73a7b8ec38 ("net: mdio_bus: add refcounting for fwnodes to mdiobus"), the MDIO core treats this well. - devm_of_mdiobus_register() or anything up to that point fails: it is the duty of the qca8k driver to release the OF node. This change addresses the second case by making sure that the OF node reference is not leaked. The "mdio" node may be NULL, but of_node_put(NULL) is safe. If the "lantiq,xrx200-mdio" child has status = "disabled", the MDIO bus creation should be avoided. Use of_device_is_available() to check for that, and take advantage of 2 facts: - of_device_is_available(NULL) returns false - of_node_put(NULL) is a no-op Signed-off-by: Vladimir Oltean <vladimir.oltean@nxp.com> Reviewed-by: Alvin Šipraga <alsi@bang-olufsen.dk> Reviewed-by: Florian Fainelli <florian.fainelli@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2024-01-05net: dsa: lantiq_gswip: use devres for internal MDIO bus, not ds->user_mii_busVladimir Oltean1-38/+31
This driver does not need any of the functionalities that make ds->user_mii_bus special. Those use cases are listed here: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/20231221174746.hylsmr3f7g5byrsi@skbuf/ It just makes use of ds->user_mii_bus only as storage for its own MDIO bus, which otherwise has no connection to the framework. This is because: - the gswip driver only probes on OF: it fails if of_device_get_match_data() returns NULL - when the child OF node of the MDIO bus is absent, no MDIO bus is registered at all, not even by the DSA framework. In order for that to have happened, the gswip driver would have needed to provide ->phy_read() and ->phy_write() in struct dsa_switch_ops, which it does not. We can break the connection between the gswip driver and the DSA framework and still preserve the same functionality. Since commit 3b73a7b8ec38 ("net: mdio_bus: add refcounting for fwnodes to mdiobus"), MDIO buses take ownership of the OF node handled to them, and release it on their own. The gswip driver no longer needs to do this. Combine that with devres, and we no longer need to keep track of anything for teardown purposes. The support includes several functions, such as: * Requesting an association to a coordinator, waiting for the response * Sending a disassociation notification to a coordinator * Receiving an association request when we are coordinator, answering the request (for now all devices are accepted up to a limit, to be refined) * Sending a disassociation notification to a child * Users may request the list of associated devices (the parent and the children). 2024-01-04USB: core: Use device_driver directly in struct usb_driver and usb_device_driverYajun Deng3-3/+3
There is usbdrv_wrap in struct usb_driver and usb_device_driver, it contains device_driver and for_devices. for_devices is used to distinguish between device drivers and interface drivers. Like the is_usb_device(), it tests the type of the device. We can test that if the probe of device_driver is equal to usb_probe_device in is_usb_device_driver(), and then the struct usbdrv_wrap is no longer needed. Clean up struct usbdrv_wrap, use device_driver directly in struct usb_driver and usb_device_driver. This makes the code cleaner. Luiz Angelo Daros de Luca reports that the MDIO bus code maintains a reference to the DT node, but does not hold a refcount on the node. The simple solution to this is to add the necessary refcounting into the MDIO bus code for all users, ensuring that on registration, the refcount is incremented, and only dropped when the MDIO bus is released. Do this for fwnodes, so we not only fix this for DT, but also other types of firmware nodes as well. 2024-01-04net: ravb: Wait for operating mode to be appliedClaudiu Beznea1-23/+42
CSR.OPS bits specify the current operating mode and (according to documentation) they are updated by HW when the operating mode change request is processed. To comply with this check CSR.OPS before proceeding. Commit introduces ravb_set_opmode() that does all the necessities for setting the operating mode (set CCC.OPC (and CCC.GAC, CCC.CSEL, if any) and wait for CSR.OPS) and call it where needed. This should comply with all the HW manuals requirements as different manual variants specify that different modes need to be checked in CSR.OPS when setting CCC.OPC. If gPTP active in config mode is supported and it needs to be enabled, the CCC.GAC and CCC.CSEL needs to be configured along with CCC.OPC in the same write access. For this, ravb_set_opmode() allows passing GAC and CSEL as part of opmode and the function updates accordingly CCC register. 2024-01-04octeontx2-af: Re-enable MAC TX in otx2_stop processingNaveen Mamindlapalli3-1/+25
During QoS scheduling testing with multiple strict priority flows, the netdev tx watchdog timeout routine is invoked when a low priority QoS queue doesn't get a chance to transmit the packets because other high priority flows are completely subscribing the transmit link. The netdev tx watchdog timeout routine will stop MAC RX and TX functionality in otx2_stop() routine before cleanup of HW TX queues which results in SMQ flush errors because the packets belonging to low priority queues will never gets flushed since MAC TX is disabled. This patch fixes the issue by re-enabling MAC TX to ensure the packets in HW pipeline gets flushed properly. 2024-01-04octeontx2-af: Always configure NIX TX link credits based on max frame sizeNaveen Mamindlapalli1-107/+3
Currently the NIX TX link credits are initialized based on the max frame size that can be transmitted on a link but when the MTU is changed, the NIX TX link credits are reprogrammed by the SW based on the new MTU value. Since SMQ max packet length is programmed to max frame size by default, there is a chance that NIX TX may stall while sending a max frame sized packet on the link with insufficient credits to send the packet all at once. This patch avoids stall issue by not changing the link credits dynamically when the MTU is changed.
