2023-06-06wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Fix -Warray-bounds bug in iwl_mvm_wait_d3_notif()Gustavo A. R. Silva1-6/+2
kmemdup() at line 2735 is not duplicating enough memory for notif->tid_tear_down and notif->station_id. As it only duplicates 612 bytes: up to offsetofend(struct iwl_wowlan_info_notif, received_beacons), this is the range of [0, 612) bytes. 2735 notif = kmemdup(notif_v1, 2736 offsetofend(struct iwl_wowlan_info_notif, 2737 received_beacons), 2738 GFP_ATOMIC); which evidently does not cover bytes 612 and 613 for members tid_tear_down and station_id in struct iwl_wowlan_info_notif. See below: $ pahole -C iwl_wowlan_info_notif drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mvm/d3.o struct iwl_wowlan_info_notif { struct iwl_wowlan_gtk_status_v3 gtk[2]; /* 0 488 */ /* --- cacheline 7 boundary (448 bytes) was 40 bytes ago --- */ struct iwl_wowlan_igtk_status igtk[2]; /* 488 80 */ /* --- cacheline 8 boundary (512 bytes) was 56 bytes ago --- */ __le64 replay_ctr; /* 568 8 */ /* --- cacheline 9 boundary (576 bytes) --- */ __le16 pattern_number; /* 576 2 */ __le16 reserved1; /* 578 2 */ __le16 qos_seq_ctr[8]; /* 580 16 */ __le32 wakeup_reasons; /* 596 4 */ __le32 num_of_gtk_rekeys; /* 600 4 */ __le32 transmitted_ndps; /* 604 4 */ __le32 received_beacons; /* 608 4 */ u8 tid_tear_down; /* 612 1 */ u8 station_id; /* 613 1 */ u8 reserved2[2]; /* 614 2 */ /* size: 616, cachelines: 10, members: 13 */ /* last cacheline: 40 bytes */ }; Therefore, when the following assignments take place, actually no memory has been allocated for those objects: 2743 notif->tid_tear_down = notif_v1->tid_tear_down; 2744 notif->station_id = notif_v1->station_id; Fix this by allocating space for the whole notif object and zero out the remaining space in memory after member station_id. 2023-06-01wifi: rtw89: correct PS calculation for SUPPORTS_DYNAMIC_PSPing-Ke Shih3-9/+33
This driver relies on IEEE80211_CONF_PS of hw->conf.flags to turn off PS or turn on dynamic PS controlled by driver and firmware. Though this would be incorrect, it did work before because the flag is always recalculated until the commit 28977e790b5d ("wifi: mac80211: skip powersave recalc if driver SUPPORTS_DYNAMIC_PS") is introduced by kernel 5.20 to skip to recalculate IEEE80211_CONF_PS of hw->conf.flags if driver sets SUPPORTS_DYNAMIC_PS. Correct this by doing recalculation while BSS_CHANGED_PS is changed and interface is added or removed. For now, it is allowed to enter PS only if single one station vif is working, and it could possible to have PS per vif after firmware can support it. Without this fix, driver doesn't enter PS anymore that causes higher power consumption. 2023-05-17wifi: b43: fix incorrect __packed annotationArnd Bergmann2-2/+2
clang warns about an unpacked structure inside of a packed one: drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/b43.h:654:4: error: field data within 'struct b43_iv' is less aligned than 'union (unnamed union at /home/arnd/arm-soc/drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/b43.h:651:2)' and is usually due to 'struct b43_iv' being packed, which can lead to unaligned accesses [-Werror,-Wunaligned-access] The problem here is that the anonymous union has the default alignment from its members, apparently because the original author mixed up the placement of the __packed attribute by placing it next to the struct member rather than the union definition. As the struct itself is also marked as __packed, there is no need to mark its members, so just move the annotation to the inner type instead. As Michael noted, the same problem is present in b43legacy, so change both at the same time. 2023-05-17wifi: rtw88: sdio: Always use two consecutive bytes for word operationsMartin Blumenstingl1-8/+0
The Allwinner sunxi-mmc controller cannot handle word (16 bit) transfers. So and sdio_{read,write}w fails with messages like the following example using an RTL8822BS (but the same problems were also observed with RTL8822CS and RTL8723DS chips): rtw_8822bs mmc1:0001:1: Firmware version 27.2.0, H2C version 13 sunxi-mmc 4021000.mmc: unaligned scatterlist: os f80 length 2 sunxi-mmc 4021000.mmc: map DMA failed rtw_8822bs mmc1:0001:1: sdio read16 failed (0x10230): -22 Use two consecutive single byte accesses for word operations instead. It turns out that upon closer inspection this is also what the vendor driver does, even though it does have support for sdio_{read,write}w. So we can conclude that the rtw88 chips do support word access but only on SDIO controllers that also support it. Since there's no way to detect if the controller supports word access or not the rtw88 sdio driver switches to the easiest approach: avoiding word access. 2023-05-16wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Add locking to the rate read flowAriel Malamud1-0/+3
The rs_drv_get_rate flow reads the lq_sta to return the optimal rate for tx frames. This read flow is not protected thereby leaving a small window, a few instructions wide, open to contention by an asynchronous rate update. Indeed this race condition was hit and the update occurred in the middle of the read. Fix this by locking the lq_sta struct during read. To fix this problem, add regrcr in rtl8xxxu_priv struct, and store the RCR value every time the register is written, and use it the next time the register need to be modified. 2023-05-15wifi: brcmfmac: Check for probe() id argument being NULLHans de Goede3-0/+27
The probe() id argument may be NULL in 2 scenarios: 1. brcmf_pcie_pm_leave_D3() calling brcmf_pcie_probe() to reprobe the device. 2. If a user tries to manually bind the driver from sysfs then the sdio / pcie / usb probe() function gets called with NULL as id argument. 1. In the PCI and USB cases try a manual lookup of the id so that manually binding the driver through sysfs and more importantly brcmf_pcie_probe() on resume will work. For the SDIO case there is no helper to do a manual sdio_device_id lookup, so just directly error out on a NULL id there. This will make the future rust interactions with the driver core more "provably correct" as well as providing more obvious lifetime rules for all busses and classes in the kernel. The changes required for this did touch many individual classes and busses as many callbacks were changed to take const * parameters instead. All of these changes have been submitted to the various subsystem maintainers, giving them plenty of time to review, and most of them actually did so. 2023-04-21wifi: ath9k: Don't mark channelmap stack variable read-only in ↵Toke Høiland-Jørgensen1-3/+1
ath9k_mci_update_wlan_channels() This partially reverts commit e161d4b60ae3a5356e07202e0bfedb5fad82c6aa. Turns out the channelmap variable is not actually read-only, it's modified through the MCI_GPM_CLR_CHANNEL_BIT() macro further down in the function, so making it read-only causes page faults when that code is hit. 2023-04-20wifi: rtl8xxxu: Simplify setting the initial gainBitterblue Smith1-4/+2
The goal of writing 0x6954341e / 0x6955341e to REG_OFDM0_XA_AGC_CORE1 appears to be setting the initial gain, which is stored in bits 0..6. Bits 7..31 are the same as what the phy init tables write. Modify only bits 0..6 so that we don't have to care about the values of the others. This way we don't have to add another "else if" for the RTL8192FU. Why we need to change the initial gain from the default 0x20 to 0x1e? Not sure. Some of the vendor drivers change it to 0x1e before scanning and then restore it to the original value after. According to the vendor driver the pkg_type has to be set to '1' for some rtw8821c variants. As the pkg_type has been hardcoded to '0', add a field for it in struct rtw_hal and set this correctly in the rtw8821c part. With this parsing of a rtw_table is influenced and check_positive() in phy.c returns true for some cases here. The same is done in the vendor driver.
