11 dayswifi: mwifiex: Initialize the chan_stats array to zeroQianfeng Rong2-4/+5
commit 0e20450829ca3c1dbc2db536391537c57a40fe0b upstream. The adapter->chan_stats[] array is initialized in mwifiex_init_channel_scan_gap() with vmalloc(), which doesn't zero out memory. The array is filled in mwifiex_update_chan_statistics() and then the user can query the data in mwifiex_cfg80211_dump_survey(). There are two potential issues here. What if the user calls mwifiex_cfg80211_dump_survey() before the data has been filled in. Also the mwifiex_update_chan_statistics() function doesn't necessarily initialize the whole array. Since the array was not initialized at the start that could result in an information leak. Also this array is pretty small. It's a maximum of 900 bytes so it's more appropriate to use kcalloc() instead vmalloc(). Add the missing memory barrier to make sure that LMAC source ring descriptors are written before updating the head pointer to avoid passing stale data to the firmware on weakly ordered architectures like aarch64. Note that non-LMAC rings use MMIO write accessors which have the required write memory barrier. This variable is used as an index for the lq_cmd->rs_table array, which has a size of LINK_QUAL_MAX_RETRY_NUM, without proper validation. Modify the condition of the inner loop to ensure that the 'index' variable does not exceed LINK_QUAL_MAX_RETRY_NUM - 1, thereby preventing any potential overflow issues. 2025-08-28wifi: brcmfmac: fix P2P discovery failure in P2P peer due to missing P2P IEGokul Sivakumar1-4/+4
[ Upstream commit 579bf8037b70b644a674c126a32bbb2212cf5c21 ] After commit bd99a3013bdc ("brcmfmac: move configuration of probe request IEs"), the probe request MGMT IE addition operation brcmf_vif_set_mgmt_ie() got moved from the brcmf_p2p_scan_prep() to the brcmf_cfg80211_scan(). Because of this, as part of the scan request handler for the P2P Discovery, vif struct used for adding the Probe Request P2P IE in firmware got changed from the P2PAPI_BSSCFG_DEVICE vif to P2PAPI_BSSCFG_PRIMARY vif incorrectly. So the firmware stopped adding P2P IE to the outgoing P2P Discovery probe requests frames and the other P2P peers were unable to discover this device causing a regression on the P2P feature. To fix this, while setting the P2P IE in firmware, properly use the vif of the P2P discovery wdev on which the driver received the P2P scan request. This is done by not changing the vif pointer, until brcmf_vif_set_mgmt_ie() is completed. 2025-08-28wifi: rtl8xxxu: Fix RX skb size for aggregation disabledMartin Kaistra1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit d76a1abcf57734d2bcd4a7ec051617edd4513d7f ] Commit 1e5b3b3fe9e0 ("rtl8xxxu: Adjust RX skb size to include space for phystats") increased the skb size when aggregation is enabled but decreased it for the aggregation disabled case. As a result, if a frame near the maximum size is received, rtl8xxxu_rx_complete() is called with status -EOVERFLOW and then the driver starts to malfunction and no further communication is possible. Restore the skb size in the aggregation disabled case. Then the pointer is passed to zd_mac_tx_status() where it is dereferenced. In order to avoid potential NULL pointer dereference due to situations like above, check if skb is not NULL before passing it to zd_mac_tx_status(). Additionally, this is one of the top syzbot reports now. Just print a message, and as an added bonus, print the sizes too. This patch is a revision of a previous patch (linked below) which attempted to disable ASPM for RTL8723BE on all Intel Skylake and Kaby Lake PCIe bridges. I take a more conservative approach as all known reports point to ASUSTek laptops of these two generations with this particular wireless card. Please note, however, before the rtl8723be finishes probing, the AER errors remained. After the module finishes probing, all AER errors would indeed be eliminated, along with heavy lags, poor network throughput, and/or occasional lock-ups. The device is supposed to provide the same length back to the driver. But yes, it's possible (like shown in the report) to alter the value to something that causes a crash/panic due to overrun. This patch addresses the issue by adding the size to the common device context, so p54_rx_eeprom_readback no longer relies on possibly tampered values... That said, it also checks if the "firmware" altered the value and no longer copies them. The one, small saving grace is: Before the driver tries to read the eeprom, it needs to upload >a< firmware. the vendor firmware has a proprietary license and as a reason, it is not present on most distributions by default. We can't check the ATH10K_FLAG_CRASH_FLUSH bit since it is cleared before hif_start() is called, so instead check the ATH10K_SNOC_FLAG_RECOVERY flag and skip enabling the IRQs during crash recovery. This fixes unbalanced IRQ enable splats that happen after recovering from a crash. This will cause the list node immediately following the list head to become an invalid list node. Because the prev of that node still points to the list head "arvifs", but the next of the list head "arvifs" no longer points to that list node. When a WLAN recovery occurs during the execution of a vif removal, and it happens before the spin_lock_bh(&ar->data_lock) in ath11k_mac_op_remove_interface(), list_del() will detect the previously mentioned situation, thereby triggering a kernel panic. The fix is to remove and reinitialize all vif list nodes from the list head "arvifs" during WLAN halt. The reinitialization is to make the list nodes valid, ensuring that the list_del() in ath11k_mac_op_remove_interface() can execute normally. This function will free struct cfg80211_registered_device *rdev and all its members, including wiphy, dev and the pointer of sdio workqueue. Then the pointer of sdio workqueue will be set to NULL due to CONFIG_INIT_ON_FREE_DEFAULT_ON. After device release, destroy_workqueue() will use NULL pointer then the kernel panic happen. Sleep timer will be deleted before ath10k_core_destroy() in ath10k_hif_power_down(). ath10k_sdio_irq_disable() only be called in ath10k_hif_stop(). ath10k_core_unregister() will call ath10k_hif_power_down() to stop hif bus, so ath10k_sdio_hif_tx_sg() won't be called anymore. 2025-04-10wifi: iwlwifi: fw: allocate chained SG tables for dumpJohannes Berg1-28/+58
[ Upstream commit 7774e3920029398ad49dc848b23840593f14d515 ] The firmware dumps can be pretty big, and since we use single pages for each SG table entry, even the table itself may end up being an order-5 allocation. Build chained tables so that we need not allocate a higher-order table here. This could be improved and cleaned up, e.g. by using the SG pool code or simply kvmalloc(), but all of that would require also updating the devcoredump first since that frees it all, so we need to be more careful. SG pool might also run against the CONFIG_ARCH_NO_SG_CHAIN limitation, which is irrelevant here. Also use _devcd_free_sgtable() for the error paths now, much simpler especially since it's in two places now. The following sequence deletes the interface: brcmf_detach() brcmf_remove_interface() brcmf_del_if() Inside the brcmf_del_if() function the drvr->if2bss[ifidx] is updated to BRCMF_BSSIDX_INVALID (-1) if the bsscfgidx matches. After brcmf_remove_interface() call the brcmf_proto_detach() function is called providing the following sequence: brcmf_detach() brcmf_proto_detach() brcmf_proto_msgbuf_detach() brcmf_flowring_detach() brcmf_msgbuf_delete_flowring() brcmf_msgbuf_remove_flowring() brcmf_flowring_delete() brcmf_get_ifp() brcmf_txfinalize() Since brcmf_get_ip() can and actually will return NULL in this case the call to brcmf_txfinalize() will result in a NULL pointer dereference inside brcmf_txfinalize() when trying to update ifp->ndev->stats.tx_errors. This will only happen if a flowring still has an skb. Although the NULL pointer dereference has only been seen when trying to update the tx statistic, all other uses of the ifp pointer have been guarded as well with an early return if ifp is NULL. This is because the firmware doesn't know the device is connected to a network. Fix that. Note that with the current code this will never happen, since the caller of iwl_acpi_get_dsm_integer already checks that the expected size if either 1 or 4 bytes, so it can't exceed 8 bytes. While at it, print the DSM value instead of the return value, as this was the intention in the first place.
