[ Upstream commit 3db8563bac6c34018cbb96b14549a95c368b0304 ] If scan happen during start_ap, the register which control TX might be turned off during scan. Additionally, if set_channel occurs during scan will backup this register and set to firmware after set_channel done. When scan complete, firmware will also set TX by this register, causing TX to be disabled and beacon can't be TX. Therefore, in assign/unassign_vif call scan abort before set_channel to avoid scan racing with set_channel. 2025-08-20wifi: rtw89: Lower the timeout in rtw89_fw_read_c2h_reg() for USBBitterblue Smith2-2/+9
[ Upstream commit 671be46afd1f03de9dc6e4679c88e1a7a81cdff6 ] This read_poll_timeout_atomic() with a delay of 1 µs and a timeout of 1000000 µs can take ~250 seconds in the worst case because sending a USB control message takes ~250 µs. Lower the timeout to 4000 for USB in order to reduce the maximum polling time to ~1 second. This problem was observed with RTL8851BU while suspending to RAM with WOWLAN enabled. The computer sat for 4 minutes with a black screen before suspending. 2025-08-20wifi: rtw89: wow: Add Basic Rate IE to probe request in scheduled scan modeChin-Yen Lee1-1/+4

Some APs do not respond to such incomplete probe requests, causing net-detect failures. To improve interoperability and ensure APs respond correctly, add the Basic Rate IE to the probe request in driver. 2025-08-15wifi: rtw88: Fix macid assigned to TDLS stationBitterblue Smith1-2/+2
[ Upstream commit 526b000991b557c40ea53e64ba24bb9e0fff0071 ] When working in station mode, TDLS peers are assigned macid 0, even though 0 was already assigned to the AP. This causes the connection with the AP to stop working after the TDLS connection is torn down. Assign the next available macid to TDLS peers, same as client stations in AP mode. 2025-08-15wifi: rtl8xxxu: Fix RX skb size for aggregation disabledMartin Kaistra1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit d76a1abcf57734d2bcd4a7ec051617edd4513d7f ] Commit 1e5b3b3fe9e0 ("rtl8xxxu: Adjust RX skb size to include space for phystats") increased the skb size when aggregation is enabled but decreased it for the aggregation disabled case. As a result, if a frame near the maximum size is received, rtl8xxxu_rx_complete() is called with status -EOVERFLOW and then the driver starts to malfunction and no further communication is possible. Restore the skb size in the aggregation disabled case. 2025-06-27wifi: rtw89: phy: add dummy C2H event handler for report of TAS powerPing-Ke Shih3-4/+11
commit 09489812013f9ff3850c3af9900c88012b8c1e5d upstream. The newer firmware, lik RTL8852C version 0.27.111.0, will notify driver report of TAS (Time Averaged SAR) power by new C2H events. This is to assist in higher accurate calculation of TAS. For now, driver doesn't use the report yet, so add a dummy handler to avoid it throws info like: rtw89_8852ce 0000:03:00.0: c2h class 9 func 6 not support Also add "MAC" and "PHY" to the message to disambiguate the source of C2H event. RTL8723BE found on some ASUSTek laptops, such as F441U and X555UQ with subsystem ID 11ad:1723 are known to output large amounts of PCIe AER errors during and after boot up, causing heavy lags and at times lock-ups: pcieport 0000:00:1c.5: AER: Correctable error message received from 0000:00:1c.5 pcieport 0000:00:1c.5: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Correctable, type=Physical Layer, (Receiver ID) pcieport 0000:00:1c.5: device [8086:9d15] error status/mask=00000001/00002000 pcieport 0000:00:1c.5: [ 0] RxErr Disable ASPM on this combo as a quirk. This patch is a revision of a previous patch (linked below) which attempted to disable ASPM for RTL8723BE on all Intel Skylake and Kaby Lake PCIe bridges. I take a more conservative approach as all known reports point to ASUSTek laptops of these two generations with this particular wireless card. Please note, however, before the rtl8723be finishes probing, the AER errors remained. After the module finishes probing, all AER errors would indeed be eliminated, along with heavy lags, poor network throughput, and/or occasional lock-ups. In this scenario the firmware download takes at least 2000 seconds. Because this is done from the USB probe function, the long delay makes other things in the system hang. Reduce the timeout to 500 ms. This is the value used by the official USB wifi drivers from Realtek. Of course this only makes things hang for ~30 seconds instead of ~30 minutes. It doesn't fix the firmware download. Tested with RTL8822CU, RTL8812BU, RTL8811CU, RTL8814AU, RTL8811AU, RTL8812AU, RTL8821AU, RTL8723DU. Vendor driver clears only 2 most significant bits. [ Upstream commit ba4bb0402c60e945c4c396c51f0acac3c3e3ea5c ] The rtwdev->scanning flag isn't protected by mutex originally, so cancel_hw_scan can pass the condition, but suddenly hw_scan completion unset the flag and calls ieee80211_scan_completed() that will free local->hw_scan_req. Then, cancel_hw_scan raises null-ptr-deref and use-after-free. Fix it by moving the check condition to where protected by mutex. 2025-02-08wifi: rtw89: mcc: consider time limits not divisible by 1024Zong-Zhe Yang1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 35642ba31dc4a1816a20191e90156a9e329beb10 ] For each MCC role, time limits, including max_tob_us, max_toa_us, and mac_dur_us, are calculated if there are NoA attributes. The relation between these time limits is "max_dur_us = max_tob_us + max_toa_us". Then, the unit is converted from us to TU. However, originally, each time limit was divided by 1024 independently. It missed to consider the cases that max_tob_us or max_toa_us is not divisible by 1024. It causes the result breaks "max_dur (TU) = max_tob (TU) + max_toa (TU)". Finally, when MCC calculates pattern parameters based on these kinds of time limits, it might not perform well. Then the mgnt_entry list init again, causing the list_empty() check in rtw89_chanctx_ops_assign_vif() useless, and list_add_tail() again. 2025-02-08wifi: rtw89: chan: fix soft lockup in rtw89_entity_recalc_mgnt_roles()Zong-Zhe Yang1-1/+2
[ Upstream commit e4790b3e314a4814f1680a5dc552031fb199b878 ] During rtw89_entity_recalc_mgnt_roles(), there is a normalizing process which will re-order the list if an entry with target pattern is found. And once one is found, should have aborted the list_for_each_entry. But, `break` just aborted the inner for-loop. The outer list_for_each_entry still continues. Normally, only the first entry will match the target pattern, and the re-ordering will change nothing, so there won't be soft lockup. However, in some special cases, soft lockup would happen.
