2023-03-31wifi: rtlwifi: Replace fake flex-array with flex-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva1-1/+1
Zero-length arrays as fake flexible arrays are deprecated and we are moving towards adopting C99 flexible-array members instead. Address the following warning found with GCC-13 and -fstrict-flex-arrays=3 enabled: In function ‘fortify_memset_chk’, inlined from ‘rtl_usb_probe’ at drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/usb.c:1044:2: ./include/linux/fortify-string.h:430:25: warning: call to ‘__write_overflow_field’ declared with attribute warning: detected write beyond size of field (1st parameter); maybe use struct_group()? [-Wattribute-warning] 430 | __write_overflow_field(p_size_field, size); | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This helps with the ongoing efforts to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy() and help us make progress towards globally enabling -fstrict-flex-arrays=3 [1]. 2021-04-21rtlwifi: implement set_tim by update beacon contentPing-Ke Shih1-0/+1
Once beacon content is changed, we update the content to wifi card by send_beacon_frame(). Then, STA with PS can wake up properly to receive its packets. Since we update beacon content to PCI wifi devices every beacon interval, the only one usb device, 8192CU, needs to update beacon content when mac80211 calling set_tim. Reported-by: Maciej S. 2020-09-30net: rtlwifi: Remove void* casts related to delayed workSebastian Andrzej Siewior1-3/+0
INIT_DELAYED_WORK() takes two arguments: A pointer to the delayed work and a function reference for the callback. The rtl code casts all function references to (void *) because the callbacks in use are not matching the required function signature. That's error prone and bad pratice. Some of the callback functions are also global, but only used in a single file. Clean the mess up by: - Adding the proper arguments to the callback functions and using them in the container_of() constructs correctly which removes the hideous container_of_dwork_rtl() macro as well. - Removing the type cast at the initializers - Making the unnecessary global functions static Signed-off-by: Sebastian Andrzej Siewior <bigeasy@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Acked-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2020-03-23wireless: realtek: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva1-3/+3
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. 2019-07-12scripts/spelling.txt: drop "sepc" from the misspelling listPaul Walmsley1-1/+1
The RISC-V architecture has a register named the "Supervisor Exception Program Counter", or "sepc". This abbreviation triggers checkpatch.pl's misspelling detector, resulting in noise in the checkpatch output. The risk that this noise could cause more useful warnings to be missed seems to outweigh the harm of an occasional misspelling of "spec". Thus drop the "sepc" entry from the misspelling list. 2019-05-28rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Replace local bit manipulation macrosLarry Finger1-0/+1
This driver uses a set of local macros to manipulate the RX and TX descriptors, which are all little-endian quantities. These macros are replaced by the bitfield macros le32p_replace_bits() and le32_get_bits(). In several places, the macros operated on an entire 32-bit word. In these cases, a direct read or replacement is used. Signed-off-by: Larry Finger <Larry.Finger@lwfinger.net> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>
2019-04-13rtlwifi: Convert the wake_match variable to localLarry Finger1-1/+0
In five of the drivers, the contents of bits 29-31 of one of the RX descriptors is used to set bits in a variable that is used to save the wakeup condition for output in a debugging statement. 2018-05-29rtlwifi: use sk_buff to queue C2H commandsPing-Ke Shih1-1/+1
We use 'struct rtl_c2hcmd' to store C2H commands originally, and the code is slightly complex to enqueue and dequeue and also wastes time to allocate and memcpy data. Since C2H commands are asynchronous events, they can be processed in work queue, so RX ISR enqueues C2H result in removal of rtl_c2h_packet_handler(). 2018-05-29rtlwifi: support accurate nullfunc frame tx ack reportTzu-En Huang1-0/+16
In order to realize the keep-alive mechanism in mac80211 stack, reporting accurate tx ack status for nullfunc frame is added in this commit. If current frame is nullfunc frame, we ask firmware to report by filling TX report bit in TX descriptor. After this frame DMA done, TX interrupt is triggered but TX status is unknown at this moment, so enqueue this skb into tx_report->queue. Finally, C2H report will be received if the frame is transmitted successfully or retried over, and then we report to mac80211 with IEEE80211_TX_STAT_ACK flag only if it's successful. Otherwise, if failure or timeout (one second), we report to mac80211 without this flag. 2018-04-24rtlwifi: cleanup 8723be ant_sel definitionPing-Ke Shih1-0/+5
Some HP laptops have only a single wifi antenna. This would not be a problem except that they were shipped with an incorrectly encoded EFUSE. It should have been possible to open the computer and transfer the antenna connection to the other terminal except that such action might void the warranty, and moving the antenna broke the Windows driver. The fix was to add a module option that would override the EFUSE encoding. That was done with commit c18d8f509571 ("rtlwifi: rtl8723be: Add antenna select module parameter"). There was still a problem with Bluetooth coexistence, which was addressed with commit baa170229095 ("rtlwifi: btcoexist: Implement antenna selection"). There were still problems, thus there were commit 0ff78adeef11 ("rtlwifi: rtl8723be: fix ant_sel code") and commit 6d6226928369 ("rtlwifi: btcoexist: Fix antenna selection code"). Despite all these attempts at fixing the problem, the code is not yet right. A proper fix is important as there are now instances of laptops having RTL8723DE chips with the same problem. The module parameter ant_sel is used to control antenna number and path. At present enum ANT_{X2,X1} is used to define the antenna number, but this choice is not intuitive, thus change to a new enum ANT_{MAIN,AUX} to make it more readable. This change showed examples where incorrect values were used. It was also possible to remove a workaround in halbtcoutsrc.c. The experimental results with single antenna connected to specific path are now as follows: ant_sel ANT_MAIN(#1) ANT_AUX(#2) 0 -8 -62 1 -62 -10 2 -6 -60 Signed-off-by: Ping-Ke Shih <pkshih@realtek.com> Fixes: c18d8f509571 ("rtlwifi: rtl8723be: Add antenna select module parameter") Fixes: baa170229095 ("rtlwifi: btcoexist: Implement antenna selection") Fixes: 0ff78adeef11 ("rtlwifi: rtl8723be: fix ant_sel code") Fixes: 6d6226928369 ("rtlwifi: btcoexist: Fix antenna selection code") Cc: Stable <stable@vger.kernel.org> # 4.7+ Reviewed-by: Larry Finger <Larry.Finger@lwfinger.net> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>

2018-02-27rtlwifi: Use 6 bits as sequence number of TX reportPing-Ke Shih1-0/+8
In new design, SW_DEFINE[1:0] of tx desc are used by firmware, and the TX report only contains SW_DEFINE[7:0]. To satisfy with all cases, driver uses SW_DEFINE[7:2] as sequence number. Besides, the format of tx report have been changed, so a new flag RTL_SPEC_EXT_C2H is used to access report. 2018-02-07rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem correctlyLarry Finger1-0/+1
There has been a coding error in rtl8821ae since it was first introduced, namely that an 8-bit register was read using a 16-bit read in _rtl8821ae_dbi_read(). This error was fixed with commit 40b368af4b75 ("rtlwifi: Fix alignment issues"); however, this change led to instability in the connection. To restore stability, this change was reverted in commit b8b8b16352cd ("rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem"). Unfortunately, the unaligned access causes machine checks in ARM architecture, and we were finally forced to find the actual cause of the problem on x86 platforms. Following a suggestion from Pkshih <pkshih@realtek.com>, it was found that increasing the ASPM L1 latency from 0 to 7 fixed the instability. This parameter was varied to see if a smaller value would work; however, it appears that 7 is the safest value. A new symbol is defined for this quantity, thus it can be easily changed if necessary. 2018-01-24rtlwifi: btcoex: Add wifi_only series ops to control solo cardPing-Ke Shih1-0/+7
Originally, btcoex controls the antenna of combo card, but solo card is also needed to setup properly. The new ops are named with suffix '_wifi_only' opposited to original btc_ops, and new structures and definitions are also introduced. The wifi_only oly contains four ops that are initial variable, hw config, scan notify, and switch band notify.
