2021-05-14rtlwifi: 8821ae: upgrade PHY and RF parametersPing-Ke Shih1-130/+370
[ Upstream commit 18fb0bedb5fc2fddc057dbe48b7360a6ffda34b3 ] The signal strength of 5G is quite low, so user can't connect to an AP far away. New parameters with new format and its parser are updated by the commit 84d26fda52e2 ("rtlwifi: Update 8821ae new phy parameters and its parser."), but some parameters are missing. Use this commit to update to the novel parameters that use new format. 2020-09-09rtlwifi: switch from 'pci_' to 'dma_' APIChristophe JAILLET2-12/+10
The wrappers in include/linux/pci-dma-compat.h should go away. The patch has been generated with the coccinelle script below and has been hand modified to replace GFP_ with a correct flag. It has been compile tested. The only file where some GFP_ flags are updated is 'pci.c'. When memory is allocated in '_rtl_pci_init_tx_ring()' and '_rtl_pci_init_rx_ring()' GFP_KERNEL can be used because both functions are called from a probe function and no spinlock is taken. In commit bd421dab7515 ("rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Convert macros that set descriptor"), all the routines that get fields from a descriptor were changed to return signed integer values. This is incorrect for the routines that get the entire 32-bit word. In this case, an unsigned quantity is required. In this step, the read/write routines for the descriptors are converted to use __le32 quantities, thus a lot of casts can be removed. Callback routines still use the 8-bit arrays, but these are changed within the specified routine. The macro that cleared a descriptor has now been converted into an inline routine. As a first step in the conversion, the macros that set the RX and TX descriptors are converted to static inline routines, and the names are changed from upper to lower case. To minimize the changes in a given step, the input descriptor information is left as as a byte array (u8 *), even though it should be a little-endian word array (__le32 *). This driver uses a set of local macros to manipulate the RX and TX descriptors, which are all little-endian quantities. These macros are replaced by the bitfield macros le32p_replace_bits() and le32_get_bits(). In several places, the macros operated on an entire 32-bit word. 2019-04-13rtlwifi: Convert the wake_match variable to localLarry Finger1-7/+7
In five of the drivers, the contents of bits 29-31 of one of the RX descriptors is used to set bits in a variable that is used to save the wakeup condition for output in a debugging statement. The resulting variable is not used anywhere else even though it is stored in a struct and could be available in other routines. This variable is changed to be local. 2018-05-29rtlwifi: support accurate nullfunc frame tx ack reportTzu-En Huang1-2/+3
In order to realize the keep-alive mechanism in mac80211 stack, reporting accurate tx ack status for nullfunc frame is added in this commit. If current frame is nullfunc frame, we ask firmware to report by filling TX report bit in TX descriptor. After this frame DMA done, TX interrupt is triggered but TX status is unknown at this moment, so enqueue this skb into tx_report->queue. Finally, C2H report will be received if the frame is transmitted successfully or retried over, and then we report to mac80211 with IEEE80211_TX_STAT_ACK flag only if it's successful. Otherwise, if failure or timeout (one second), we report to mac80211 without this flag. 2018-02-07rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem correctlyLarry Finger1-2/+3
There has been a coding error in rtl8821ae since it was first introduced, namely that an 8-bit register was read using a 16-bit read in _rtl8821ae_dbi_read(). This error was fixed with commit 40b368af4b75 ("rtlwifi: Fix alignment issues"); however, this change led to instability in the connection. To restore stability, this change was reverted in commit b8b8b16352cd ("rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem"). Unfortunately, the unaligned access causes machine checks in ARM architecture, and we were finally forced to find the actual cause of the problem on x86 platforms. Following a suggestion from Pkshih <pkshih@realtek.com>, it was found that increasing the ASPM L1 latency from 0 to 7 fixed the instability. This parameter was varied to see if a smaller value would work; however, it appears that 7 is the safest value. A new symbol is defined for this quantity, thus it can be easily changed if necessary. 2017-12-07rtlwifi: Convert individual interrupt results to structLarry Finger2-8/+6
With the RTL8822BE and later devices, the number of interrupt vectors has grown from 2 to 4. At this point, saving and passing those vectors in a struct makes more sense than using individual scaler variables. In two of the drivers, code to process the second of the interrupt registers was included, but commented out. This patch removes those useless sections.
