2023-03-13wifi: move raycs, wl3501 and rndis_wlan to legacy directoryKalle Valo1-2819/+0
To clean up drivers/net/wireless move the old drivers drivers left in the directory to a new "legacy" directory. I did consider adding CONFIG_WLAN_VENDOR_LEGACY like other vendors have but then dropped the idea as these are really old drivers and hopefully we get to remove them soon. There should be no changes in compilation or in Kconfig options, merely moving files. Currently array element org[3] is being accessed, however the array is only 3 elements in size, so this looks like an off-by-one out-of-bounds error. Fix this by using org[2], which I believe was the original intent. This issue has existed in the driver back in the pre-git days, so no idea when it was introduced. Using memcpy() from a buffer that is shorter than the length copied means the destination buffer is being filled with arbitrary data from the kernel rodata segment. In this case, the source was made longer, since it did not match the destination structure size. Additionally removes a needless cast. This was found with the future CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE feature. 2016-10-13net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson1-1/+0
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. "translate" should either be set or disabled. We also use it an offset into the framing[] array when we're generating the proc file. Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p Neatened the mwifiex_deauthenticate_infra function which was doing odd things with array pointers and not using is_zero_ether_addr. All file_operations should get a .llseek operation so we can make nonseekable_open the default for future file operations without a .llseek pointer. The three cases that we can automatically detect are no_llseek, seq_lseek and default_llseek. For cases where we can we can automatically prove that the file offset is always ignored, we use noop_llseek, which maintains the current behavior of not returning an error from a seek. New drivers should normally not use noop_llseek but instead use no_llseek and call nonseekable_open at open time. Existing drivers can be converted to do the same when the maintainer knows for certain that no user code relies on calling seek on the device file. The generated code is often incorrectly indented and right now contains comments that clarify for each added line why a specific variant was chosen. In the version that gets submitted upstream, the comments will be gone and I will manually fix the indentation, because there does not seem to be a way to do that using coccinelle. Some amount of new code is currently sitting in linux-next that should get the same modifications, which I will do at the end of the merge window. Several PCMCIA device drivers contained the same comments, which were based on how the PCMCIA subsystem worked in the old days of 2.4., and which were originally part of a "dummy_cs" driver.
