2011-01-10p54: fix sequence no. accounting off-by-one errorChristian Lamparter1-1/+1
P54_HDR_FLAG_DATA_OUT_SEQNR is meant to tell the firmware that "the frame's sequence number has already been set by the application." Whereas IEEE80211_TX_CTL_ASSIGN_SEQ is set for frames which lack a valid sequence number and either the driver or firmware has to assign one. Yup, it's the exact opposite! 2010-08-31p54: fix tx feedback status flag checkChristian Lamparter1-1/+1
Michael reported that p54* never really entered power save mode, even tough it was enabled. It turned out that upon a power save mode change the firmware will set a special flag onto the last outgoing frame tx status (which in this case is almost always the designated PSM nullfunc frame). This flag confused the driver; It erroneously reported transmission failures to the stack, which then generated the next nullfunc. and so on... The ISL3887 chip needs a USB reset, whenever the usb-frontend module "p54usb" is reloaded. This patch fixes an off-by-one bug, if the user is running a kernel without the CONFIG_PM option set and for some reason (e.g.: compat-wireless) wants to switch between different p54usb modules. 2010-08-25p54: improve eeprom parserChristian Lamparter2-3/+19
Like other vendors, p54* devices have a checksum for the EEPROM descriptor data. This patch enhances the parser code to generate and verify the data fields, before initializing the radio-chip on the card. Note: If you have to bootstrap an alternative EEPROM image for your device and you don't know how to generate a valid crc ccitt checksum, you should take a look at: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/chr/p54tools.git The "checksum" utility loads a binary p54 EEPROM blob (use the -f switch, to skip the check) and applies the correct crc automatically. Currently, mac80211 translates the cfg80211 cipher suite selectors into ALG_* values. That isn't all too useful, and some drivers benefit from the distinction between WEP40 and WEP104 as well. 2010-06-05p54spi: replace internal "cx3110x" name with "p54spi"Luke-Jr1-3/+2
While the comment removed in this patch claims board_n800.c uses "cx3110x", it was never merged to mainline like this. Mainlined board files for Nokia N8x0 devices are expected "p54spi", and thus don't work because the modalias is "cx3110x". To my knowledge, these devices are the only real-world use of p54spi, and will not work without this change. Tested against my Nokia N810. This patch removes from drivers/net/ all the unnecessary return; statements that precede the last closing brace of void functions. It does not remove the returns that are immediately preceded by a label as gcc doesn't like that. It also does not remove null void functions with return. Done via: $ grep -rP --include=*.[ch] -l "return;\n}" net/ | \ xargs perl -i -e 'local $/ ; while (<>) { s/\n[ \t\n]+return;\n}/\n}/g; print; }' with some cleanups by hand. This patch fixes an old problem, which - under certain circumstances - could cause the device to become unresponsive. most of p54pci's rx-ring management is implemented in just two distinct standalone functions. p54p_check_rx_ring takes care of processing incoming data, while p54p_refill_rx_ring tries to replenish all depleted communication buffers. This has always worked fine on my fast machine, but now I know there is a hidden race... The most likely candidate here is ring_control->device_idx. Quintin Pitts had already analyzed the culprit and posted a patch back in Oct 2009. But sadly, no one's picked up on this. ( https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/53079/ [2 & 3] ). This patch does the same way, except that it also prioritize rx data processing, simply because tx routines *can* wait.
