2022-02-18iwlwifi: mvm: Passively scan non PSC channels only when requested soIlan Peer1-10/+32
Non PSC channels should generally be scanned based on information about collocated APs obtained during scan on legacy bands, and otherwise should not be scanned unless specifically requested so (as there are relatively many non PSC channels, scanning them passively is time consuming and interferes with regular data traffic). Thus, modify the scan logic to avoid passively scanning PSC channels if there is no information about collocated APs and the scan is not a passive scan. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: mvm: Correctly set fragmented EBSIlan Peer1-1/+4
Currently, fragmented EBS was set for a channel only if the 'hb_type' was set to fragmented or balanced scan. However, 'hb_type' is set only in case of CDB, and thus fragmented EBS is never set for a channel for non-CDB devices. Fix it. If the device is malfunctioning and reports too short rx descriptor length, iwl_rx_packet_payload_len() will underflow, eventually resulting in accessing memory out of bounds and other bad things. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: mvm: use debug print instead of WARN_ON()Miri Korenblit1-1/+5
In MCC_UPDATE_CMD we get from the FW the number of entries in the channel info array. We used to WARN_ON if this parameter is greater than we expected. Since this is not really a driver bug, and since it might happen in some valid cases too, we shouldn't use a warning here. Fix this by replacing the WARN_ON with a debug print. Due to preg protection we cannot write to this register while FW is running (when FW in Halt it is ok). since we have some cases that we need to dump this region while FW is running remove this writing from DRV. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: mvm: don't iterate unadded vifs when handling FW SMPS reqLuca Coelho1-1/+2
We may not have all the interfaces added to the driver when we get the THERMAL_DUAL_CHAIN_REQUEST notification from the FW, so instead of iterating all vifs to update SMPS, iterate only the ones that are already assigned. The interfaces that were not assigned yet, will be updated accordingly when we start using them. Until now function just got a pointer to some buffer and used it as if it's good to use with no boundaries about size left in the buffer. This infra helps for internal functions ops to make sure buffer usage is in bound of allocation. We also add external checks with warnings to verify every internal function didn't exceed usage of the free buffer size. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: propagate (const) type qualifierBjoern A. Zeeb8-85/+88
Most of this change is a continuation of commit 403ea939ea6a ("iwlwifi: dbg: Mark ucode tlv data as const") propagating the (const) type qualifier for ucode based tlv data to avoid having the impression that it is writeable. The other part of the change preserves the (const) type qualifier over casts and function calls where it was previously lost. In order to de-const variables simply casting through (void *) is not enough: "cast from 'const .. *' to 'void *' drops const qualifier". Cast through (uintptr_t) as well [1] to make this compile on systems with more strict requirements. In addition passing const void *data to dma_map_single() also drops the (const) qualifier. De-constify on variable on assignment which may be overwritten later. In either case the (void *) cast to dma_map_single() is not needed (anymore) either. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: make iwl_fw_lookup_cmd_ver() take a cmd_idJohannes Berg19-125/+88
Instead of taking the group/command separately, make the function take a combined command ID. In many cases, this allows us to pass an existing command ID (e.g. cmd.id), or introduce a new variable for it, so that we don't use the command ID twice. This way, we can also use LONG_GROUP implicitly, so we don't need to spell that out for many commands. 2022-02-18iwlwifi: mvm: Don't call iwl_mvm_sta_from_mac80211() with NULL staTakashi Iwai1-3/+2
The recent fix for NULL sta in iwl_mvm_get_tx_rate() still has a call of iwl_mvm_sta_from_mac80211() that may be called with NULL sta. Although this practically only points to the address and the actual access doesn't happen due to the conditional evaluation at a later point, it looks a bit flaky. This patch drops the temporary variable above and evaluates iwm_mvm_sta_from_mac80211() directly for avoiding confusions. 2022-02-10iwlwifi: fix use-after-freeJohannes Berg1-0/+2
If no firmware was present at all (or, presumably, all of the firmware files failed to parse), we end up unbinding by calling device_release_driver(), which calls remove(), which then in iwlwifi calls iwl_drv_stop(), freeing the 'drv' struct. However the new code I added will still erroneously access it after it was freed. Set 'failure=false' in this case to avoid the access, all data was already freed anyway. 2022-02-04cfg80211/mac80211: assume CHECKSUM_COMPLETE includes SNAPJohannes Berg1-0/+3
There's currently only one driver that reports CHECKSUM_COMPLETE, that is iwlwifi. The current hardware there calculates checksum after the SNAP header, but only RFC 1042 (and some other cases, but replicating the exact hardware logic for corner cases in the driver seemed awkward.) Newer generations of hardware will checksum _including_ the SNAP, which makes things easier. To handle that, simply always assume the checksum _includes_ the SNAP header, which this patch does, requiring to first add it for older iwlwifi hardware, and then remove it again later on conversion. Alternatively, we could have: 1) Always assumed the checksum starts _after_ the SNAP header; the problem with this is that we'd have to replace the exact "what is the SNAP" check in iwlwifi that cfg80211 has. 2) Made it configurable with some flag, but that seemed like too much complexity. 2022-02-03iwlwifi: mvm: don't send SAR GEO command for 3160 devicesLuca Coelho3-7/+9
SAR GEO offsets are not supported on 3160 devices. The code was refactored and caused us to start sending the command anyway, which causes a FW assertion failure. Fix that only considering this feature supported on FW API with major version is 17 if the device is not 3160. Additionally, fix the caller of iwl_mvm_sar_geo_init() so that it checks for the return value, which it was ignoring. 2022-02-03iwlwifi: mei: report RFKILL upon register when neededEmmanuel Grumbach1-2/+8
When we register and we are in link protection passive, meaning that the host can't touch the device, report RFKILL immediately upon register() and don't wait for the CSME firmware to let us know again about the link protection state. What happens if we wait is that the host will not see RFKILL soon enough and we'll have a window of time during which it can bring up the device which will request ownership.
