2023-10-18wifi: ath6kl: replace deprecated strncpy with memcpyJustin Stitt1-1/+1
strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous interfaces. The affected code's purpose is to truncate strings that are too long with "..." like: foobar -> fo... The lengths have been carefully calculated and as such this has decayed to a simple byte copy from one buffer to another -- let's use memcpy(). Note: build-tested only. 2022-06-20cfg80211: Indicate MLO connection info in connect and roam callbacksVeerendranath Jakkam1-1/+1
The MLO links used for connection with an MLD AP are decided by the driver in case of SME offloaded to driver. Add support for the drivers to indicate the information of links used for MLO connection in connect and roam callbacks, update the connected links information in wdev from connect/roam result sent by driver. Also, send the connected links information to userspace. Add a netlink flag attribute to indicate that userspace supports handling of MLO connection. Drivers must not do MLO connection when this flag is not set. This is to maintain backwards compatibility with older supplicant versions which doesn't have support for MLO connection. 2022-06-20wifi: cfg80211: do some rework towards MLO link APIsJohannes Berg1-2/+4
In order to support multi-link operation with multiple links, start adding some APIs. The notable addition here is to have the link ID in a new nl80211 attribute, that will be used to differentiate the links in many nl80211 operations. So far, this patch adds the netlink NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINK_ID attribute (as well as the NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINKS attribute) and plugs it through the system in some places, checking the validity etc. along with other infrastructure needed for it. For now, I've decided to include only the over-the-air link ID in the API. I know we discussed that we eventually need to have to have other ways of identifying a link, but for local AP mode and auth/assoc commands as well as set_key etc. we'll use the OTA ID. Also included in this patch is some refactoring of the data structures in struct wireless_dev, splitting for the first time the data into type dependent pieces, to make reasoning about these things easier. In builds with -Warray-bounds, casts from smaller objects to larger objects will produce warnings. These can be overly conservative, but since -Warray-bounds has been finding legitimate bugs, it is desirable to turn it on globally. Add the missing endpoint max-packet sanity check to probe() to avoid division by zero in ath10k_usb_hif_tx_sg() in case a malicious device has broken descriptors (or when doing descriptor fuzz testing). Note that USB core will reject URBs submitted for endpoints with zero wMaxPacketSize but that drivers doing packet-size calculations still need to handle this (cf. commit 2548288b4fb0 ("USB: Fix: Don't skip endpoint descriptors with maxpacket=0")). This reverts commit fc6a6521556c8250e356ddc6a3f2391aa62dc976. Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were correct or not. Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a later kernel change. The change being reverted does NOTHING as the caller to this function does not even look at the return value of the call. So the "claim" that this fixed an an issue is not true. It will be fixed up properly in a future patch by propagating the error up the stack correctly. 2021-01-26cfg80211: avoid holding the RTNL when calling the driverJohannes Berg2-0/+4
Currently, _everything_ in cfg80211 holds the RTNL, and if you have a slow USB device (or a few) you can get some bad lock contention on that. Fix that by re-adding a mutex to each wiphy/rdev as we had at some point, so we have locking for the wireless_dev lists and all the other things in there, and also so that drivers still don't have to worry too much about it (they still won't get parallel calls for a single device). Then, we can restrict the RTNL to a few cases where we add or remove interfaces and really need the added protection. Some of the global list management still also uses the RTNL, since we need to have it anyway for netdev management, but we only hold the RTNL for very short periods of time here. 2021-01-22cfg80211: change netdev registration/unregistration semanticsJohannes Berg1-2/+2
We used to not require anything in terms of registering netdevs with cfg80211, using a netdev notifier instead. However, in the next patch reducing RTNL locking, this causes big problems, and the simplest way is to just require drivers to do things better. Change the registration/unregistration semantics to require the drivers to call cfg80211_(un)register_netdevice() when this is happening due to a cfg80211 request, i.e. add_virtual_intf() or del_virtual_intf() (or if it somehow has to happen in any other cfg80211 callback). Otherwise, in other contexts, drivers may continue to use the normal netdev (un)registration functions as usual. Internally, we still use the netdev notifier and track (by the new wdev->registered bool) if the wdev had already been added to cfg80211 or not.
