2021-03-17ath11k: fix AP mode for QCA6390Kalle Valo1-2/+2
[ Upstream commit 77d7e87128d4dfb400df4208b2812160e999c165 ] Commit c134d1f8c436 ("ath11k: Handle errors if peer creation fails") completely broke AP mode on QCA6390: kernel: [ 151.230734] ath11k_pci 0000:06:00.0: failed to create peer after vdev start delay: -22 wpa_supplicant[2307]: Failed to set beacon parameters wpa_supplicant[2307]: Interface initialization failed wpa_supplicant[2307]: wlan0: interface state UNINITIALIZED->DISABLED wpa_supplicant[2307]: wlan0: AP-DISABLED wpa_supplicant[2307]: wlan0: Unable to setup interface. wpa_supplicant[2307]: Failed to initialize AP interface This was because commit c134d1f8c436 ("ath11k: Handle errors if peer creation fails") added error handling for ath11k_peer_create(), which had been failing all along but was unnoticed due to the missing error handling. The actual bug was introduced already in commit aa44b2f3ecd4 ("ath11k: start vdev if a bss peer is already created"). ath11k_peer_create() was failing because for AP mode the peer is created already earlier op_add_interface() and we should skip creation here, but the check for modes was wrong. Fixing that makes AP mode work again. This shouldn't affect IPQ8074 nor QCN9074 as they have hw_params.vdev_start_delay disabled. 2021-03-17ath11k: start vdev if a bss peer is already createdCarl Huang3-2/+25
[ Upstream commit aa44b2f3ecd41f90b7e477158036648a49d21a32 ] For QCA6390, bss peer must be created before vdev is to start. This change is to start vdev if a bss peer is created. Otherwise, ath11k delays to start vdev. This fixes an issue in a case where HT/VHT/HE settings change between authentication and association, e.g., due to the user space request to disable HT. 2020-12-30ath11k: Reset ath11k_skb_cb before setting new flagsSven Eckelmann1-0/+1
[ Upstream commit 5da7acfec5ec55aa0b69b8760f1d2116b4e2ad26 ] It was observed that the codepath for the ATH11K_SKB_HW_80211_ENCAP was used even when the IEEE80211_TX_CTRL_HW_80211_ENCAP was not enabled for a an skbuff. This became even more prominent when the QCAs wlan-open patchset for ath11k [1] was applied and a sane looking fix just caused crashes when injecting frames via a monitor interface (for example with ratechecker): [ 86.963152] Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000338 [ 86.963192] pgd = ffffffc0008f0000 [ 86.971034] [00000338] *pgd=0000000051706003, *pud=0000000051706003, *pmd=0000000051707003, *pte=00e800000b000707 [ 86.984292] Internal error: Oops: 96000006 [#1] PREEMPT SMP [...] [ 87.713339] [<ffffffbffc802480>] ieee80211_tx_status_8023+0xf8/0x220 [mac80211] [ 87.715654] [<ffffffbffc98bad4>] ath11k_dp_tx_completion_handler+0x42c/0xa10 [ath11k] [ 87.722924] [<ffffffbffc989190>] ath11k_dp_service_srng+0x70/0x3c8 [ath11k] [ 87.730831] [<ffffffbffca03460>] 0xffffffbffca03460 [ 87.737599] [<ffffffc00046ef58>] net_rx_action+0xf8/0x288 [ 87.742462] [<ffffffc000097554>] __do_softirq+0xfc/0x220 [ 87.748014] [<ffffffc000097900>] irq_exit+0x98/0xe8 [ 87.753396] [<ffffffc0000cf188>] __handle_domain_irq+0x90/0xb8 [ 87.757999] [<ffffffc000081ca4>] gic_handle_irq+0x6c/0xc8 [ 87.763899] Exception stack(0xffffffc00081bdc0 to 0xffffffc00081bef0) Problem is that the state of ath11k_skb_cb->flags must be considered unknown and could contain anything when it is not manually initialized. 2020-12-30ath11k: Don't cast ath11k_skb_cb to ieee80211_tx_info.controlSven Eckelmann3-12/+21
[ Upstream commit f4d291b43f809b74c66b21f5190cd578af43070b ] The driver_data area of ieee80211_tx_info is used in ath11k for ath11k_skb_cb. The first function in the TX patch which rewrites it to ath11k_skb_cb is already ath11k_mac_op_tx. No one else in the code path must use it for something else before it reinitializes it. Otherwise the data has to be considered uninitialized or corrupt. But the ieee80211_tx_info.control shares exactly the same area as ieee80211_tx_info.driver_data and ath11k is still using it. This results in best case in a ath11k c000000.wifi1: no vif found for mgmt frame, flags 0x0 or (slightly worse) in a kernel oops. Instead, the interesting data must be moved first into the ath11k_skb_cb and ieee80211_tx_info.control must then not be used anymore. 2020-12-30ath11k: Fix number of rules in filtered ETSI regdomainSven Eckelmann1-2/+3
[ Upstream commit 6189be7d145c3a2d48514eb8755483602ff5a4b4 ] The ath11k code will try to insert wheather rader related limits when the DFS region is set to ETSI. For this reason, it will add two more entries in the array of reg_rules. But the 2.4.0.1 firmware is prefiltering the list of reg rules it returns for 2.4GHz PHYs. They will then not contain the list of 5GHz rules and thus no wheather radar band rules were inserted by this code. But the code didn't fix the n_reg_rules for this regulatory domain and PHY when this happened. This resulted in a rejection by is_valid_rd because it found rules which start and end at 0khz. This resulted in a splat like: Invalid regulatory domain detected ------------[ cut here ]------------ WARNING: at backports-20200628-4.4.60-9a94b73e75/net/wireless/reg.c:3721 [...] ath11k c000000.wifi1: failed to perform regd update : -22 The number of rules must therefore be saved after they were converted from the ath11k format to the ieee80211_regdomain format and not before. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-01740-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1 Signed-off-by: Carl Huang <cjhuang@codeaurora.org> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1601544890-13450-4-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org
2020-10-01ath11k: enable shadow register configuration and accessCarl Huang9-8/+194
To enable shadow register access, host needs to pass shadow register configuration to firmware via qmi message. Host also needs to update ring's HP or TP address to shadow register address. The write operation to shadow register will be forwarded to target register by hardware automatically, and the write operation to shadow register is permitted even when the target is in power save or sleep mode. Update the shadow config whenever power up happens. This feature is controlled by hw parameter supports_shadow_regs which is only enabled for QCA6390. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-01740-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1 Signed-off-by: Carl Huang <cjhuang@codeaurora.org> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1601544890-13450-3-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org
2020-10-01ath11k: read and write registers below unwindowed addressCarl Huang2-0/+42
For QCA6390, host can read and write registers below unwindowed address directly without programming the window register. For registers below bar0 + 4k - 32, host can read and write regardless of the power save state. Shadow registers are located below bar0 + 4K - 32. Before MHI power up, there is no need to wakeup MHI so ini_done is added to indicate it. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-01740-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1 Signed-off-by: Carl Huang <cjhuang@codeaurora.org> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1601544890-13450-2-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org
2020-10-01ath11k: debugfs: fix crash during rmmodCarl Huang1-4/+4
With QCA6390 when doing rmmod the kernel crashed. The reason was that the destroy functions ath11k_debugfs_pdev_destroy() and ath11k_debugfs_soc_destroy() accidentally had swapped the debugfs directories and ath11k_debugfs_soc_destroy() was removing an already removed directory, which crashed the kernel. The source of confusion is badly named function and variable names. I think the best way to clean this up is actually to merge the corresponding functions, but that's for another patch. Let's first just fix the crash. 2020-10-01ath11k: add packet log support for QCA6390Carl Huang9-56/+169
Add packet log support for QCA6390, otherwise the data connection will stall within a minute or so. Enable it via debugfs and use trace-cmd to capture the pktlogs. echo 0xffff 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/ath11k/qca6390\ hw2.0/mac0/pktlog_filter The mon status ring doesn't support interrupt so far, so host starts a timer to reap this ring. The timer handler also reaps the rxdma_err_dst_ring in case of monitor mode. As QCA6390 requires bss created ahead of starting vdev, so check vdev_start_delay for monitor mode. For QCA6390, it uses wbm_desc_rel_ring to return descriptors. It also uses rx_refill_buf_ring to fill mon buffer instead of rxdma_mon_buf_ring. 2020-10-01ath11k: disable monitor mode on QCA6390Kalle Valo3-0/+12
QCA6390 does not support monitor mode at the moment so disable it altogether, using a hack as mac80211 does not support disabling it otherwise. Add a boolean to hw_params to know if hardware supports monitor mode. IPQ8074 continues to support monitor mode normally. There are different versions of QCA6390. Check TCSR_SOC_HW_VERSION to make sure that the device is hw2.0, all the rest are unsupported. This needs to be checked after ath11k_pci_claim() so move the whole switch choosing hw_ver. 2020-10-01ath11k: add interface_modes to hw_paramsKalle Valo3-39/+75
As QCA6390 does not support mesh interfaces, move the interface_modes to hw_params. Also create interface combinations dynamically so that it's easy to change the values. Now QCA6390 does not claim to support mesh interfaces to user space, but IPQ8074 continues to do that. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-01740-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1 Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1601399736-3210-4-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org

For QCA6390, station vdev needs to delay startup but not for AP mode. On AP mode vdev starts up immediately after bss peer is created in chanctx assignment context. This patch does not affect IPQ8074 family of devices. The QCA6390 board I have, model 8291M-PR comes with an ELF board file. To get this to at least somewhat work, I renamed bdwlan.e04 to 'board.bin' and then added this patch to check for ELF magic string in the beginning of the file. If that is found, use type ELF. 2020-09-22ath11k: wmi: remove redundant configuration values from initKalle Valo2-50/+6
In commit 2d4bcbed5b7d ("ath11k: initialize wmi config based on hw_params") the wmi config initialisation was moved to hw_ops->wmi_init_config() but the old initialisation values were accidentally left to ath11k_wmi_cmd_init(). This is very confusing, so remove the redundant values. And this was actually so confusing that in commit aa2092a9bab3 ("ath11k: add raw mode and software crypto support") I actually it caused a bug: when ATH11K_FLAG_RAW_MODE was enabled rx_decap_mode was assigned back to TARGET_DECAP_MODE_NATIVE_WIFI in ath11k_init_wmi_config_ipq8074(). For consistency with debugfs.c rename debug_htt_stats files and functions to debugfs_htt_stats. No functional changes. Compile tested only. Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1600264523-12939-3-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org
2020-09-22ath11k: debugfs: use ath11k_debugfs_ prefixKalle Valo9-70/+70
As these functions are now defined in debugfs.c change the prefix to use ath11k_debugfs_ as well. No functional changes. Compile tested only. Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1600264523-12939-2-git-send-email-kvalo@codeaurora.org
2020-09-22ath11k: refactor debugfs code into debugfs.cKalle Valo5-1350/+1369
If CONFIG_ATH11K_DEBUGFS is disabled there are warnings debug.c: drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath11k/debug.c:36:20: warning: 'htt_bp_lmac_ring' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] 36 | static const char *htt_bp_lmac_ring[HTT_SW_LMAC_RING_IDX_MAX] = { | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath11k/debug.c:15:20: warning: 'htt_bp_umac_ring' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] 15 | static const char *htt_bp_umac_ring[HTT_SW_UMAC_RING_IDX_MAX] = { | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fix this by refactoring debugfs code to debugfs.c. This also reduces the number of ifdefs in debug.c and makes it easier to maintain the code. No functional changes. Compile tested only.
