2020-10-29ath10k: provide survey info as accumulated dataVenkateswara Naralasetty1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 720e5c03e5cb26d33d97f55192b791bb48478aa5 ] It is expected that the returned counters by .get_survey are monotonic increasing. But the data from ath10k gets reset to zero regularly. Channel active/busy time are then showing incorrect values (less than previous or sometimes zero) for the currently active channel during successive survey dump commands. example: $ iw dev wlan0 survey dump Survey data from wlan0 frequency: 5180 MHz [in use] channel active time: 54995 ms channel busy time: 432 ms channel receive time: 0 ms channel transmit time: 59 ms ... $ iw dev wlan0 survey dump Survey data from wlan0 frequency: 5180 MHz [in use] channel active time: 32592 ms channel busy time: 254 ms channel receive time: 0 ms channel transmit time: 0 ms ... The correct way to handle this is to use the non-clearing WMI_BSS_SURVEY_REQ_TYPE_READ wmi_bss_survey_req_type. The firmware will then accumulate the survey data and handle wrap arounds. I think this is because the tx-offchannel logic gets in a loop when ath10k_mac_tx_frm_has_freq(ar) is false, so pkt is never actually sent to the firmware for transmit. This patch fixes the problem on 4.9 for me, and now HS20 clients can work again with my firmware. 2019-11-24ath10k: fix vdev-start timeout on errorBen Greear1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 833fd34d743c728afe6d127ef7bee67e7d9199a8 ] The vdev-start-response message should cause the completion to fire, even in the error case. Otherwise, the user still gets no useful information and everything is blocked until the timeout period. Add some warning text to print out the invalid status code to aid debugging, and propagate failure code. 2019-11-20ath10k: limit available channels via DT ieee80211-freq-limitSven Eckelmann1-0/+2
[ Upstream commit 34d5629d2ca89d847b7040762b87964c696c14da ] Tri-band devices (1x 2.4GHz + 2x 5GHz) often incorporate special filters in the RX and TX path. These filtered channel can in theory still be used by the hardware but the signal strength is reduced so much that it makes no sense. There is already a DT property to limit the available channels but ath10k has to manually call this functionality to limit the currrently set wiphy channels further. When WMI_SERVICE_BEACON_OFFLOAD is enabled, host driver tries to configure probe response template for mesh, but it fails because the interface type is not NL80211_IFTYPE_AP but NL80211_IFTYPE_MESH_POINT. To avoid this failure, skip sending probe response template to firmware for mesh point. When num_pending_tx reaches max_num_pending_tx, we will stop the queues by calling ieee80211_stop_queues(). As frames that have previously been sent for transmission (num_pending_tx) are completed, we will decrease num_pending_tx and wake the queues by calling ieee80211_wake_queue(). ieee80211_wake_queue() does not call wake_tx_queue, so we might still have frames in the queue at this point. While the queues were stopped, the socket buffer might have filled up, and in order for user space to write more, we need to free the frames in the queue, since they are accounted to the socket. In order to free them, we first need to transmit them. This problem cannot be reproduced on low-latency devices, e.g. pci, since they call ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending() from ath10k_htt_txrx_compl_task(). ath10k_htt_txrx_compl_task() is not called on high-latency devices. Fix the problem by calling ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending(), after processing rx packets, just like for low-latency devices, also in the SDIO case. Since we are calling ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending() directly, we also need to export it. 2018-09-19ath10k: prevent active scans on potential unusable channelsSven Eckelmann1-0/+7
[ Upstream commit 3f259111583801013cb605bb4414aa529adccf1c ] The QCA4019 hw1.0 firmware 10.4-3.2.1-00050 and 10.4-3.5.3-00053 (and most likely all other) seem to ignore the WMI_CHAN_FLAG_DFS flag during the scan. This results in transmission (probe requests) on channels which are not "available" for transmissions. Since the firmware is closed source and nothing can be done from our side to fix the problem in it, the driver has to work around this problem. The WMI_CHAN_FLAG_PASSIVE seems to be interpreted by the firmware to not scan actively on a channel unless an AP was detected on it. Simple probe requests will then be transmitted by the STA on the channel. ath10k must therefore also use this flag when it queues a radar channel for scanning. This should reduce the chance of an active scan when the channel might be "unusable" for transmissions. 2018-08-24ath10k: update the phymode along with bandwidth change requestRyan Hsu1-2/+14
[ Upstream commit 9191fc2a431bade3dedc9ad17759495a9f82f41b ] In the case of Station connects to AP with narrower bandwidth at beginning. And later the AP changes the bandwidth to winder bandwidth, the AP will beacon with wider bandwidth IE, eg VHT20->VHT40->VHT80 or VHT40->VHT80. Since the supported BANDWIDTH will be limited by the PHYMODE, so while Station receives the bandwidth change request, it will also need to reconfigure the PHYMODE setting to firmware instead of just configuring the BANDWIDTH info, otherwise it'll trigger a firmware crash with non-support bandwidth. 2018-05-30ath10k: Fix kernel panic while using worker (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk)Karthikeyan Periyasamy1-0/+10
[ Upstream commit 8b2d93dd22615cb7f3046a5a2083a6f8bb8052ed ] When attempt to run worker (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) after the station object (ieee80211_sta) delete will trigger the kernel panic. This problem arise in AP + Mesh configuration, Where the current node AP VAP and neighbor node mesh VAP MAC address are same. When the current mesh node try to establish the mesh link with neighbor node, driver peer creation for the neighbor mesh node fails due to duplication MAC address. Already the AP VAP created with same MAC address. It is caused by the following scenario steps. Steps: 1. In above condition, ath10k driver sta_state callback (ath10k_sta_state) fails to do the state change for a station from IEEE80211_STA_NOTEXIST to IEEE80211_STA_NONE due to peer creation fails. Sta_state callback is called from ieee80211_add_station() to handle the new station (neighbor mesh node) request from the wpa_supplicant. 2. Concurrently ath10k receive the sta_rc_update callback notification from the mesh_neighbour_update() to handle the beacon frames of the above neighbor mesh node. since its atomic callback, ath10k driver queue the work (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) to handle rc update. 3. Due to driver sta_state callback fails (step 1), mac80211 free the station object. 4. When the worker (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) scheduled to run, it will access the station object which is already deleted. so it will trigger kernel panic. Added the peer exist check in sta_rc_update callback before queue the work. [ Upstream commit 8ebee73b574ad3dd1f14d461f65ceaffbd637650 ] This patch fixes regression caused by 0c317a02ca98 ("cfg80211: support virtual interfaces with different beacon intervals"), with this change cfg80211 expects the driver to advertize 'beacon_int_min_gcd' to support different beacon intervals in multivap scenario. This support is added for, QCA988X/QCA99X0/QCA9984/QCA4019. Verifed AP + mesh bring up on QCA9984 with beacon interval 100msec and 1000msec respectively. When Ath10k is in AP mode and an unassociated STA sends a VHT action frame (Operating Mode Notification for the NSS change) periodically to AP this causes ath10k to call ath10k_station_assoc() which sends WMI_PEER_ASSOC_CMDID during NSS update. Over the time (with a certain client it can happen within 15 mins when there are over 500 of these VHT action frames) continuous calls of WMI_PEER_ASSOC_CMDID cause firmware to assert due to resource exhaust. To my knowledge setting WMI_PEER_NSS peer param itself enough to handle NSS updates and no need to call ath10k_station_assoc(). So revert the original commit from 2014 as it's unclear why the change was really needed. Now the firmware assert doesn't happen anymore. Issue observed in QCA9984 platform with firmware version:10.4-3.5.3-00053. 2018-03-24ath10k: handling qos at STA side based on AP WMM enable/disableBalaji Pothunoori1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 07ffb4497360ae8789f05555fec8171ee952304d ] Data packets are not sent by STA in case of STA joined to non QOS AP (WMM disabled AP). This is happening because of STA is sending data packets to firmware from host with qos enabled along with non qos queue value(TID = 16). Due to qos enabled, firmware is discarding the packet. This patch fixes this issue by updating the qos based on station WME capability field if WMM is disabled in AP. This patch is required by 10.4 family chipsets like QCA4019/QCA9888/QCA9884/QCA99X0. Firmware Versoin : 10.4-3.5.1-00018. For 10.2.4 family chipsets QCA988X/QCA9887 and QCA6174 this patch has no effect. [ Upstream commit 424ea0d174e82365f85c6770225dba098b8f1d5f ] It is required to update the teardown state of the peer when a tdls link with that peer is terminated. This information is useful for the target to perform some cleanups wrt the tdls peer. Without proper cleanup, target assumes that the peer is connected and blocks future connection requests, updating the teardown state of the peer addresses the problem. Tested this change on QCA9888 with 10.4-3.5.1-00018 fw version. 2017-06-21ath10k: configure rxnss_override for QCA9984Ben Greear1-0/+26
QCA9984 hardware can do 4x4 at 80Mhz, but only 2x2 at 160Mhz. First, report this to user-space by setting the max-tx-speed and max-rx-speed vht capabilities. Second, if the peer rx-speed is configured, and if we are in 160 or 80+80 mode, and the peer rx-speed matches the max speed for 2x2 or 1x1 at 160Mhz (long guard interval), then use that info to set the peer_bw_rxnss_override appropriately. Without this, a 9984 firmware will not use 2x2 ratesets when transmitting to peer (it will be stuck at 1x1), because the firmware would not have configured the rxnss_override. 2017-06-21ath10k: use complete VHT chan width for 160MHz workaroundBen Greear1-1/+1
The ath10k firmware doesn't announce its VHT channel width capabilities in the vht_cap information from the "service ready event" arguments. The driver must therefore check whether the 160MHz short GI bit is set and whether the driver still doesn't set the bits for the 160/80+80 MHz capabilities. The two bits for the channel width are a two bit integer and not two separate bits which cannot be parsed without the knowledge of the other bit. Using IEEE80211_VHT_CAP_SUPP_CHAN_WIDTH_160_80PLUS80MHZ (b10..) as a mask for this task doesn't make any sense. The correct mask for the VHT channel width should be used instead to make this check more readable. If station advertises diffferent NSS capabilities in Rx_mcs set of HT and VHT IEs in assoc req, the current NSS computation logic configures the NSS support only based on Rx_mcs set of HT capabilities in the driver. This is configuring the station NSS capabilities incorreclty in the target. For example, if station advertise Rx_mcs set as 2 spatial streams in HT capabilities and 1 spatial streams in VHT capabilities in assoc request, as per current logic we are calculating nss from HT capabilities and the driver sets peer_num_spatial_streams as 2 for the station which is configured in VHT 1*1. This patchs fix this issue by calculating the nss from VHT cap if station supports vht. 2017-03-16ath10k: update available channel list for 5G radioTamizh chelvam1-0/+19
If a 5 GHz radio is calibrated for operation in both the low band (channels 36 to 64) and high band(channels 100 to 169), hardware allows operations in all the listed channels. However, if the chip has been calibrated only for the low/high band and a high/low band channel is configured, due to lack of calibration there will be potentially invalid signal on those non calibrated channels. To avoid this problem this patch sets IEEE80211_CHAN_DISABLED flag for those non calibrated channels by using low_5ghz_chan and high_5ghz_chan values which we get from target through wmi service ready event. Driver initialized flags are getting re initialized in handle_channel in cfg80211. So calling the function to disable the non supported channel from reg_notifier(). Set the NL80211_EXT_FEATURE_CQM_RSSI_LIST wiphy extended feature wholesale in all mac80211-based drivers that do not set the IEEE80211_VIF_BEACON_FILTER flags on their interfaces. mac80211 will be processing supplied RSSI values in ieee80211_rx_mgmt_beacon and will detect when the thresholds set by ieee80211_set_cqm_rssi_range_config are crossed. 2017-01-19ath10k: prevent sta pointer rcu violationMichal Kazior1-0/+18
Station pointers are RCU protected so driver must be extra careful if it tries to store them internally for later use outside of the RCU section it obtained it in. It was possible for station teardown to race with some htt events. The possible outcome could be a use-after-free and a crash. Only peer-flow-control capable firmware was affected (so hardware-wise qca99x0 and qca4019). This could be done in sta_state() itself via explicit synchronize_net() call but there's already a convenient sta_pre_rcu_remove() op that can be hooked up to avoid extra rcu stall. The peer->sta pointer itself can't be set to NULL/ERR_PTR because it is later used in sta_state() for extra sanity checks. 2016-12-30ath10k: fix incorrect txpower set by P2P_DEVICE interfaceRyan Hsu1-3/+4
Ath10k reports the phy capability that supports P2P_DEVICE interface. When we use the P2P supported wpa_supplicant to start connection, it'll create two interfaces, one is wlan0 (vdev_id=0) and one is P2P_DEVICE p2p-dev-wlan0 which is for p2p control channel (vdev_id=1). ath10k_pci mac vdev create 0 (add interface) type 2 subtype 0 ath10k_add_interface: vdev_id: 0, txpower: 0, bss_power: 0 ... ath10k_pci mac vdev create 1 (add interface) type 2 subtype 1 ath10k_add_interface: vdev_id: 1, txpower: 0, bss_power: 0 And the txpower in per vif bss_conf will only be set to valid tx power when the interface is assigned with channel_ctx. But this P2P_DEVICE interface will never be used for any connection, so that the uninitialized bss_conf.txpower=0 is assinged to the arvif->txpower when interface created. Since the txpower configuration is firmware per physical interface. During firmware crash (or) user requested manual restart the system gets into a soft lock up state because of the below root cause. During user requested hardware restart / firmware crash the system goes into a soft lockup state as 'napi_synchronize' is called after 'napi_disable' (which sets 'NAPI_STATE_SCHED' bit) and it sleeps into infinite loop as it waits for 'NAPI_STATE_SCHED' to be cleared. Recently it is root caused that setting promisc filter for Mesh interface is causing performance and stability issues. Neither of these did the right thing: - get_tsf just returned 0 - set_tsf assumed a simple offset was applied against get_tsf(), which works, except in the case of calculating TSF from rx_mactime (actual TSF). Just remove them for now. We can reimplement set_tsf in terms of TSF increment/decrement in the future if get_tsf is ever supported by FW. 2016-11-23ath10k: implement offset_tsf ieee80211_opPedersen, Thomas1-0/+25
Current set_tsf is implemented in terms of TSF_INCREMENT only. Instead support new WMI command TSF_DECREMENT and export these through offset_tsf. Advantage is we get more accurate TSF adjustments, and don't calculate wrong offset in case absolute TSF was calculated from rx_mactime (actual TSF). The new WMI command is available in firmware 10.4-3.2.1-00033 for QCA4019 chips. Old drivers on new firmware or vice versa shouldn't be a problem since get/set tsf logic was already broken. Indicate hardware (or firmware) supports that CQM packet-loss report will be generated based on station kickout algorithm. As of now mac80211 tracks connection loss by missing msdu counts (50) whereas ath10k firmware tracks them by missing ppdus (+ BAR tries). While firmware is trying to adapt its rate table, mac80211 might send out low_ack event to hostapd. This is causing frequent connect and disconnect iteration under noisy environment or when station is roaming around.
