2024-08-14net: stmmac: qcom-ethqos: enable SGMII loopback during DMA reset on ↵Bartosz Golaszewski1-0/+23
sa8775p-ride-r3 [ Upstream commit 3c466d6537b99f801b3f68af3d8124d4312437a0 ] On sa8775p-ride-r3 the RX clocks from the AQR115C PHY are not available at the time of the DMA reset. We can however extract the RX clock from the internal SERDES block. Once the link is up, we can revert to the previous state. The AQR115C PHY doesn't support in-band signalling so we can count on getting the link up notification and safely reuse existing callbacks which are already used by another HW quirk workaround which enables the functional clock to avoid a DMA reset due to timeout. Only enable loopback on revision 3 of the board - check the phy_mode to make sure. 2024-08-03net: stmmac: Correct byte order of perfect_matchSimon Horman4-5/+5
[ Upstream commit e9dbebae2e3c338122716914fe105458f41e3a4a ] The perfect_match parameter of the update_vlan_hash operation is __le16, and is correctly converted from host byte-order in the lone caller, stmmac_vlan_update(). However, the implementations of this caller, dwxgmac2_update_vlan_hash() and dwxgmac2_update_vlan_hash(), both treat this parameter as host byte order, using the following pattern: u32 value = ... ... writel(value | perfect_match, ...); This is not correct because both: 1) value is host byte order; and 2) writel expects a host byte order value as it's first argument I believe that this will break on big endian systems. And I expect it has gone unnoticed by only being exercised on little endian systems. The approach taken by this patch is to update the callback, and it's caller to simply use a host byte order value. 2024-07-03net: stmmac: enable HW-accelerated VLAN stripping for gmac4 onlyFurong Xu1-3/+4
Commit 750011e239a5 ("net: stmmac: Add support for HW-accelerated VLAN stripping") enables MAC level VLAN tag stripping for all MAC cores, but leaves set_hw_vlan_mode() and rx_hw_vlan() un-implemented for both gmac and xgmac. On gmac and xgmac, ethtool reports rx-vlan-offload is on, both MAC and driver do nothing about VLAN packets actually, although VLAN works well. Driver level stripping should be used on gmac and xgmac for now. parameters The current cbs parameter depends on speed after uplinking, which is not needed and will report a configuration error if the port is not initially connected. The UAPI exposed by tc-cbs requires userspace to recalculate the send slope anyway, because the formula depends on port_transmit_rate (see man tc-cbs), which is not an invariant from tc's perspective. Therefore, we use offload->sendslope and offload->idleslope to derive the original port_transmit_rate from the CBS formula. 2024-06-09net: stmmac: dwmac-qcom-ethqos: Configure host DMA widthSagar Cheluvegowda1-0/+4
Commit 070246e4674b ("net: stmmac: Fix for mismatched host/device DMA address width") added support in the stmmac driver for platform drivers to indicate the host DMA width, but left it up to authors of the specific platforms to indicate if their width differed from the addr64 register read from the MAC itself. Qualcomm's EMAC4 integration supports only up to 36 bit width (as opposed to the addr64 register indicating 40 bit width). Let's indicate that in the platform driver to avoid a scenario where the driver will allocate descriptors of size that is supported by the CPU which in our case is 36 bit, but as the addr64 register is still capable of 40 bits the device will use two descriptors as one address. Move the EST structure to struct stmmac_priv, because the EST configs don't look like platform config, but EST is enabled in runtime with the settings retrieved for the TC TAPRIO feature also in runtime. So it's better to have the EST-data preserved in the driver private data instead of the platform data storage. 2024-05-14net: stmmac: Make stmmac_xpcs_setup() generic to all PCS devicesSerge Semin3-19/+23
A pcs_init() callback will be introduced to stmmac in a future patch. This new function will be called during the hardware initialization phase. Instead of separately initializing XPCS and PCS components, let's group all PCS-related hardware initialization logic in the current stmmac_xpcs_setup() function. Rename stmmac_xpcs_setup() to stmmac_pcs_setup() and move the conditional call to stmmac_xpcs_setup() inside the function itself. 2024-05-14net: stmmac: Add dedicated XPCS cleanup methodSerge Semin3-4/+17
Currently the XPCS handler destruction is performed in the stmmac_mdio_unregister() method. It doesn't look good because the handler isn't originally created in the corresponding protagonist stmmac_mdio_unregister(), but in the stmmac_xpcs_setup() function. In order to have more coherent MDIO and XPCS setup/cleanup procedures, let's move the DW XPCS destruction to the dedicated stmmac_pcs_clean() method. This method will also be used to cleanup PCS hardware using the pcs_exit() callback that will be introduced to stmmac in a subsequent patch. 2024-05-08net: stmmac: dwmac-ipq806x: account for rgmii-txid/rxid/id phy-modeChristian Marangi1-0/+12
Currently the ipq806x dwmac driver is almost always used attached to the CPU port of a switch and phy-mode was always set to "rgmii" or "sgmii". Some device came up with a special configuration where the PHY is directly attached to the GMAC port and in those case phy-mode needs to be set to "rgmii-id" to make the PHY correctly work and receive packets. Since the driver supports only "rgmii" and "sgmii" mode, when "rgmii-id" (or variants) mode is set, the mode is rejected and probe fails. Add support also for these phy-modes to correctly setup PHYs that requires delay applied to tx/rx. XSk infra's been using its own DMA sync shortcut to try avoiding redundant function calls. Now that there is a generic one, remove the custom implementation and rely on the generic helpers. xsk_buff_dma_sync_for_cpu() doesn't need the second argument anymore, remove it. 2024-04-23net: stmmac: Move MAC caps init to phylink MAC caps getterSerge Semin1-19/+17
After a set of recent fixes the stmmac_phy_setup() and stmmac_reinit_queues() methods have turned to having some duplicated code. Let's get rid from the duplication by moving the MAC-capabilities initialization to the PHYLINK MAC-capabilities getter. The getter is called during each network device interface open/close cycle. So the MAC-capabilities will be initialized in generic device open procedure and in case of the Tx/Rx queues re-initialization as the original code semantics implies. Meanwhile what is currently implemented defines 10/100/1000 link speeds for all IP-cores, which is definitely incorrect for DW MAC100, DW XGMAC and DW XLGMAC devices. Seeing the flow-control is implemented as a callback for each MAC IP-core (see dwmac100_flow_ctrl(), dwmac1000_flow_ctrl(), sun8i_dwmac_flow_ctrl(), etc) and since the MAC-specific setup() method is supposed to be called for each available DW MAC-based device, the capabilities initialization can be freely moved to these setup() functions, thus correctly setting up the MAC-capabilities for each IP-core (including the Allwinner Sun8i). A new stmmac_link::caps field was specifically introduced for that so to have all link-specific info preserved in a single structure. Note the suggested change fixes three earlier commits at a time. The commit 5b0d7d7da64b ("net: stmmac: Add the missing speeds that XGMAC supports") permitted the 10-100 link speeds and 1G half-duplex mode for DW XGMAC IP-core even though it doesn't support them. The commit df7699c70c1b ("net: stmmac: Do not cut down 1G modes") incorrectly added the MAC1000 capability to the DW MAC100 IP-core. 2024-04-16net: stmmac: Fix max-speed being ignored on queue re-initSerge Semin1-0/+5
It's possible to have the maximum link speed being artificially limited on the platform-specific basis. It's done either by setting up the plat_stmmacenet_data::max_speed field or by specifying the "max-speed" DT-property. In such cases it's required that any specific MAC-capabilities re-initializations would take the limit into account. In particular the link speed capabilities may change during the number of active Tx/Rx queues re-initialization. But the currently implemented procedure doesn't take the speed limit into account. Fix that by calling phylink_limit_mac_speed() in the stmmac_reinit_queues() method if the speed limitation was required in the same way as it's done in the stmmac_phy_setup() function. There are three DW MAC IP-cores which can have the multiple Tx/Rx queues enabled: DW GMAC v3.7+ with AV feature, DW QoS Eth v4.x/v5.x, DW XGMAC/XLGMAC Based on the respective HW databooks, only the DW QoS Eth IP-core doesn't support the half-duplex link mode in case if more than one queues enabled: "In multiple queue/channel configurations, for half-duplex operation, enable only the Q0/CH0 on Tx and Rx. For single queue/channel in full-duplex operation, any queue/channel can be enabled." The rest of the IP-cores don't have such constraint. Thus in order to have the constraint applied for the DW QoS Eth MACs only, let's move the it' implementation to the respective MAC-capabilities getter and make sure the getter is called in the queues re-init procedure. There is a reocurring issue with stmmac controllers where the MAC fails to initialize its hardware if an RX clock signal isn't provided on the MAC/PHY link. This causes issues when PHY or PCS devices either go into suspend while cutting the RX clock or do not bring the clock signal up early enough for the MAC to initialize successfully. Set the mac_requires_rxc flag in the stmmac phylink config so that PHY/PCS drivers know to keep the RX clock up at all times. 2024-03-29net: stmmac: don't rely on lynx_pcs presence to check for a PHYMaxime Chevallier1-2/+1
When initializing attached PHYs, there are some cases where we don't expect any PHY to be connected. The logic uses conditions based on various local PCS configuration, but also calls-in phylink_expects_phy() via stmmac_init_phy(), which is enough to ensure we don't try to initialize a PHY when using a Lynx PCS, as long as we have the phy_interface set to a 802.3z mode and are using inband negociation. Drop the lynx check, making the stmmac generic code more pcs_lynx-agnostic. 2024-03-29net: remove gfp_mask from napi_alloc_skb()Jakub Kicinski1-3/+2
__napi_alloc_skb() is napi_alloc_skb() with the added flexibility of choosing gfp_mask. This is a NAPI function, so GFP_ATOMIC is implied. The only practical choice the caller has is whether to set __GFP_NOWARN. But that's a false choice, too, allocation failures in atomic context will happen, and printing warnings in logs, effectively for a packet drop, is both too much and very likely non-actionable. This leads me to a conclusion that most uses of napi_alloc_skb() are simply misguided, and should use __GFP_NOWARN in the first place. We also have a "standard" way of reporting allocation failures via the queue stat API (qstats::rx-alloc-fail). The direct motivation for this patch is that one of the drivers used at Meta calls napi_alloc_skb() (so prior to this patch without __GFP_NOWARN), and the resulting OOM warning is the top networking warning in our fleet. 2024-02-28stmmac: Clear variable when destroying workqueueJakub Raczynski1-1/+3
Currently when suspending driver and stopping workqueue it is checked whether workqueue is not NULL and if so, it is destroyed. Function destroy_workqueue() does drain queue and does clear variable, but it does not set workqueue variable to NULL. This can cause kernel/module panic if code attempts to clear workqueue that was not initialized. This scenario is possible when resuming suspended driver in stmmac_resume(), because there is no handling for failed stmmac_hw_setup(), which can fail and return if DMA engine has failed to initialize, and workqueue is initialized after DMA engine. Should DMA engine fail to initialize, resume will proceed normally, but interface won't work and TX queue will eventually timeout, causing 'Reset adapter' error. This then does destroy workqueue during reset process. And since workqueue is initialized after DMA engine and can be skipped, it will cause kernel/module panic. To secure against this possible crash, set workqueue variable to NULL when destroying workqueue. The MMC IPC interrupt status and interrupt mask registers are of little use as Ethernet statistics, but incrementing counters based on the current interrupt and interrupt mask registers makes them actively misleading. For example, if the interrupt mask is set to 0x08420842, the current code will increment by that amount each iteration, leading to the following sequence of nonsense: mmc_rx_ipc_intr_mask: 969816526 mmc_rx_ipc_intr_mask: 1108361744 These registers have been included in the Ethernet statistics since the first version of MMC back in 2011 (commit 1c901a46d57). That commit also mentions the MMC interrupts as "something to add later (if actually useful)". If the registers are actually useful, they should probably be part of the Ethernet register dump instead of statistics, but for now, drop the counters for mmc_rx_ipc_intr and mmc_rx_ipc_intr_mask completely. 2024-02-13net: stmmac: xgmac: use #define for string constantsSimon Horman1-34/+35
The cited commit introduces and uses the string constants dpp_tx_err and dpp_rx_err. These are assigned to constant fields of the array dwxgmac3_error_desc. It has been reported that on GCC 6 and 7.5.0 this results in warnings such as: .../dwxgmac2_core.c:836:20: error: initialiser element is not constant { true, "TDPES0", dpp_tx_err }, I have been able to reproduce this using: GCC 7.5.0, 8.4.0, 9.4.0 and 10.5.0. But not GCC 13.2.0. So it seems this effects older compilers but not newer ones. As Jon points out in his report, the minimum compiler supported by the kernel is GCC 5.1, so it does seem that this ought to be fixed. It is not clear to me what combination of 'const', if any, would address this problem. So this patch takes of using #defines for the string constants Compile tested only. 2024-02-12net: stmmac: dwmac-qcom-ethqos: Enable TBS on all queues but 0Abhishek Chauhan1-1/+5
TSO and TBS cannot co-exist. TBS requires special descriptor to be allocated at bootup. Initialising Tx queues at probe to support TSO and TBS can help in allocating those resources at bootup. TX queues with TBS can support etf qdisc hw offload.
