2016-05-17drivers: net: Don't print unpopulated net_device nameHarvey Hunt1-4/+8
For ethernet devices, net_device.name will be eth%d before register_netdev() is called. Don't print the net_device name until the format string is replaced. 2014-10-20net: ethernet: drop owner assignment from platform_driversWolfram Sang1-1/+0
A platform_driver does not need to set an owner, it will be populated by the driver core. Signed-off-by: Wolfram Sang <wsa@the-dreams.de>
2014-10-04net: ethernet: Remove superfluous ether_setup after alloc_etherdevTobias Klauser1-2/+0
There is no need to call ether_setup after alloc_ethdev since it was already called there. Follow commits c706471b2601 ("net: axienet: remove unnecessary ether_setup after alloc_etherdev") and 3c87dcbfb36c ("net: ll_temac: Remove unnecessary ether_setup after alloc_etherdev") and fix the pattern in all remaining ethernet drivers. 2013-12-06ethernet: Fix FSF address in file headersJeff Kirsher1-2/+1
Several files refer to an old address for the Free Software Foundation in the file header comment. Resolve by replacing the address with the URL <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/> so that we do not have to keep updating the header comments anytime the address changes. 2013-09-04net: netx-eth: remove unnecessary castingJingoo Han1-1/+1
Casting from 'void *' is unnecessary, because casting from 'void *' to any pointer type is automatic. Reported-by: Sergei Shtylyov <sergei.shtylyov@cogentembedded.com> Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-08-31net: netx-eth: use dev_get_platdata()Jingoo Han1-1/+1
Use the wrapper function for retrieving the platform data instead of accessing dev->platform_data directly. This is a cosmetic change to make the code simpler and enhance the readability. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-05-28net: ethernet: remove unnecessary platform_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han1-1/+0
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure, since commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d (device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound). Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. 2013-05-26net: ethernet: use platform_{get,set}_drvdata()Jingoo Han1-3/+1
Use the wrapper functions for getting and setting the driver data using platform_device instead of using dev_{get,set}_drvdata() with &pdev->dev, so we can directly pass a struct platform_device. Also, unnecessary dev_set_drvdata() is removed, because the driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. 2013-03-10drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches1-2/+0
Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. 2012-09-14ARM: netx: move platform_data definitionsArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
Platform data for device drivers should be defined in include/linux/platform_data/*.h, not in the architecture and platform specific directories. 2012-02-01drivers/net: Remove alloc_etherdev error messagesJoe Perches1-1/+0
