2016-10-13net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson1-1/+0
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. This patch introduces the use of devm_ioremap_resource, devm_kmalloc and does away with the functions to free the allocated memory in the probe and remove functions. Also, some labels are done away with. A bug is fixed as two regions are allocated in the probe function, but only one is freed in the remove function. 2012-04-14net/ethernet: ks8851_mll fix rx frame buffer overflowDavide Ciminaghi1-1/+1
At the beginning of ks_rcv(), a for loop retrieves the header information relevant to all the frames stored in the mac's internal buffers. The number of pending frames is stored as an 8 bits field in KS_RXFCTR. If interrupts are disabled long enough to allow for more than 32 frames to accumulate in the MAC's internal buffers, a buffer overflow occurs. This patch fixes the problem by making the driver's frame_head_info buffer big enough. Well actually, since the chip appears to have 12K of internal rx buffers and the shortest ethernet frame should be 64 bytes long, maybe the limit could be set to 12*1024/64 = 192 frames, but 255 should be safer. There a two different irq variables ks->irq and netdev->irq. Only ks->irq is set on probe, so disabling irq in ks_start_xmit fails.
