[ Upstream commit 2a83891130512dafb321418a8e7c9c09268d8c59 ] IPV6 addresses are purged when setting the number of rx/tx rings using ethtool -G. The function aq_set_ringparam calls dev_close, which removes the addresses. As a solution, call an internal function (aq_ndev_close). 2022-11-03atlantic: fix deadlock at aq_nic_stopÍñigo Huguet2-24/+74
[ Upstream commit 6960d133f66ecddcd3af2b1cbd0c7dcd104268b8 ] NIC is stopped with rtnl_lock held, and during the stop it cancels the 'service_task' work and free irqs. However, if CONFIG_MACSEC is set, rtnl_lock is acquired both from aq_nic_service_task and aq_linkstate_threaded_isr. Then a deadlock happens if aq_nic_stop tries to cancel/disable them when they've already started their execution. As the deadlock is caused by rtnl_lock, it causes many other processes to stall, not only atlantic related stuff. Fix it by introducing a mutex that protects each NIC's macsec related data, and locking it instead of the rtnl_lock from the service task and the threaded IRQ. Before this patch, all macsec data was protected with rtnl_lock, but maybe not all of it needs to be protected. With this new mutex, further efforts can be made to limit the protected data only to that which requires it. However, probably it doesn't worth it because all macsec's data accesses are infrequent, and almost all are done from macsec_ops or ethtool callbacks, called holding rtnl_lock, so macsec_mutex won't never be much contended. The issue appeared repeteadly attaching and deattaching the NIC to a bond interface. Doing that after this patch I cannot reproduce the bug. [ Upstream commit 65e5d27df61283e5390f04b09dc79cd832f95607 ] If aq_nic_stop() fails, aq_ndev_close() returns err without calling aq_nic_deinit() to release the relevant memory and resource, which will lead to a memory leak. We can fix it by deleting the if condition judgment and goto statement to call aq_nic_deinit() directly after aq_nic_stop() to fix the memory leak. [ Upstream commit 62e0ae0f4020250f961cf8d0103a4621be74e077 ] In aq_ring_rx_clean(), if buff->is_eop is not set AND buff->len < AQ_CFG_RX_HDR_SIZE, then hdr_len remains equal to buff->len and skb_add_rx_frag(xxx, *0*, ...) is not called. The loop following this code starts calling skb_add_rx_frag() starting with i=1 and thus frag[0] is never initialized. Since i is initialized to zero at the top of the primary loop, we can just reference and post-increment i instead of hardcoding the 0 when calling skb_add_rx_frag() the first time. commit 1809c30b6e5a83a1de1435fe01aaa4de4d626a7c upstream. The impact of this regression is the same for resume that I saw on thaw: the kernel hangs and nothing except SysRq rebooting can be done. Fixes regression in commit cbe6c3a8f8f4 ("net: atlantic: invert deep par in pm functions, preventing null derefs"), where I disabled deep pm resets in suspend and resume, trying to make sense of the atl_resume_common() deep parameter in the first place. It turns out, that atlantic always has to deep reset on pm operations. Even though I expected that and tested resume, I screwed up by kexec-rebooting into an unpatched kernel, thus missing the breakage. This fixup obsoletes the deep parameter of atl_resume_common, but I leave the cleanup for the maintainers to post to mainline. Suspend and hibernation were successfully tested by the reporters. The original functions just always reinitialized the buffers on S3/S4. If the interface is down before freezing, the bug does not occur. It does not matter, whether the initrd contains and loads the module before thawing. So the fix is to invert the boolean parameter deep in all pm function calls, which was clearly intended to be set like that. First report was on Github [1], which you have to guess from the resume logs in the posted dmesg snippet. The reports is SOOB read, but it seems SOOB write is also possible a few lines below. In details, fw.len and sw.len are inputs coming from io. A len over the size of self->rpc triggers SOOB. The patch fixes the bugs by adding sanity checks. The bugs are triggerable with compromised/malfunctioning devices. They are potentially exploitable given they first leak up to 0xffff bytes and able to overwrite the region later. The patch is tested with QEMU emulater. This is NOT tested with a real device. An example case where the start function fails is the request_threaded_irq which can be interrupted, resulting in a EINTR result. This can be manually triggered by bringing the link up (e.g. ip link set up) and triggering a SIGINT on the initiating process (e.g. Ctrl+C). This would put the device into a half configured state. Subsequently bringing the link up again would cause the napi_enable to BUG. In order to correctly clean up the failed attempt to start a device call aq_nic_stop. When performing IPv6 forwarding, there is an expectation that SKBs will have some headroom. When forwarding a packet from the aquantia driver, this does not always happen, triggering a kernel warning. aq_ring.c has this code (edited slightly for brevity): if (buff->is_eop && buff->len <= AQ_CFG_RX_FRAME_MAX - AQ_SKB_ALIGN) { skb = build_skb(aq_buf_vaddr(&buff->rxdata), AQ_CFG_RX_FRAME_MAX); } else { skb = napi_alloc_skb(napi, AQ_CFG_RX_HDR_SIZE); There is a significant difference between the SKB produced by these 2 code paths. When napi_alloc_skb creates an SKB, there is a certain amount of headroom reserved. However, this is not done in the build_skb codepath. As the hardware buffer that build_skb is built around does not handle the presence of the SKB header, this code path is being removed and the napi_alloc_skb path will always be used. This code path does have to copy the packet header into the SKB, but it adds the packet data as a frag. Commit 8dcf2ad39fdb2 ("net: atlantic: add hwmon getter for MAC temperature") implemented a read callback with an udelay(10000U). This fails to compile on ARM because the delay is >1ms. I doubt that it is needed to spin for 10ms even if possible on x86. >From looking at the code, the context appears to be preemptible so using usleep() should work and avoid busy spinning. Use readx_poll_timeout() in the poll loop. The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky. The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it. At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3113e8b203b9debfb72d81e0f3dcace which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately. This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers. While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong in foo.c files. 2020-07-21net: atlantic: use u64_stats_update_* to protect access to 64-bit statsMark Starovoytov3-10/+47
This patch adds u64_stats_update_* usage to protect access to 64-bit stats, where necessary. This is necessary for per-ring stats, because they are updated by the driver directly, so there is a possibility for a partial read. Other stats require no additional protection, e.g.: * all MACSec stats are fetched directly from HW (under semaphore); * nic/ndev stats (aq_stats_s) are fetched directly from FW (under mutex).
