2022-02-23mtd: rawnand: brcmnand: Fixed incorrect sub-page ECC statusdavid regan1-1/+1
commit 36415a7964711822e63695ea67fede63979054d9 upstream. The brcmnand driver contains a bug in which if a page (example 2k byte) is read from the parallel/ONFI NAND and within that page a subpage (512 byte) has correctable errors which is followed by a subpage with uncorrectable errors, the page read will return the wrong status of correctable (as opposed to the actual status of uncorrectable.) The bug is in function brcmnand_read_by_pio where there is a check for uncorrectable bits which will be preempted if a previous status for correctable bits is detected. The fix is to stop checking for bad bits only if we already have a bad bits status. 2022-02-23mtd: rawnand: qcom: Fix clock sequencing in qcom_nandc_probe()Bryan O'Donoghue1-8/+6
commit 5c23b3f965bc9ee696bf2ed4bdc54d339dd9a455 upstream. Interacting with a NAND chip on an IPQ6018 I found that the qcomsmem NAND partition parser was returning -EPROBE_DEFER waiting for the main smem driver to load. This caused the board to reset. Playing about with the probe() function shows that the problem lies in the core clock being switched off before the nandc_unalloc() routine has completed. If we look at how qcom_nandc_remove() tears down allocated resources we see the expected order is qcom_nandc_unalloc(nandc); clk_disable_unprepare(nandc->aon_clk); clk_disable_unprepare(nandc->core_clk); dma_unmap_resource(&pdev->dev, nandc->base_dma, resource_size(res), DMA_BIDIRECTIONAL, 0); Tweaking probe() to both bring up and tear-down in that order removes the reset if we end up deferring elsewhere. commit f53d4c109a666bf1a4883b45d546fba079258717 upstream. gpmi_io clock needs to be gated off when changing the parent/dividers of enfc_clk_root (i.MX6Q/i.MX6UL) respectively qspi2_clk_root (i.MX6SX). Otherwise this rate change can lead to an unresponsive GPMI core which results in DMA timeouts and failed driver probe: [ 4.072318] gpmi-nand 112000.gpmi-nand: DMA timeout, last DMA ... Other than stated in i.MX 6 erratum ERR007117, it should be sufficient to gate only gpmi_io because all other bch/nand clocks are derived from different clock roots. The i.MX6 reference manuals state that changing clock muxers can cause glitches but are silent about changing dividers. But tests showed that these glitches can definitely happen on i.MX6ULL. For i.MX7D/8MM in turn, the manual guarantees that no glitches can happen when changing dividers. 2021-12-14mtd: rawnand: fsmc: Fix timing computationHerve Codina1-8/+24
commit 9472335eaa1452b51dc8e8edaa1a342997cb80c7 upstream. Under certain circumstances, the timing settings calculated by the FSMC NAND controller driver were inaccurate. These settings led to incorrect data reads or fallback to timing mode 0 depending on the NAND chip used. The timing computation did not take into account the following constraint given in SPEAr3xx reference manual: twait >= tCEA - (tset * TCLK) + TOUTDEL + TINDEL Enhance the timings calculation by taking into account this additional constraint. This change has no impact on slow timing modes such as mode 0. Indeed, on mode 0, computed values are the same with and without the patch. NANDs which previously stayed in mode 0 because of fallback to mode 0 can now work at higher speeds and NANDs which were not working at all because of the corrupted data work at high speeds without troubles. [ Upstream commit 08608adb520e51403be7592c2214846fa440a23a ] There are chances that the parse_mtd_partitions() function will return -EPROBE_DEFER in mtd_device_parse_register(). This might happen when the dependency is not available for the parser. For instance, on SDX55 the MTD_QCOMSMEM_PARTS parser depends on the QCOM_SMEM driver to parse the partitions defined in the shared memory region. With the current flow, the error returned from parse_mtd_partitions() will be discarded in favor of trying to add the fallback partition. This will prevent the driver to end up in probe deferred pool and the partitions won't be parsed even after the QCOM_SMEM driver is available. Fix this issue by bailing out of mtd_device_parse_register() when -EPROBE_DEFER error is returned from parse_mtd_partitions() function and propagate the error code to the driver core for probing later. 2021-03-04mtd: spi-nor: core: Fix erase type discovery for overlaid regionTakahiro Kuwano1-4/+5
commit 969b276718de37dfe66fce3a5633f611e8cd58fd upstream. In case of overlaid regions in which their biggest erase size command overpasses in size the region's size, only the non-overlaid portion of the sector gets erased. For example, if a Sector Erase command is applied to a 256-kB range that is overlaid by 4-kB sectors, the overlaid 4-kB sectors are not affected by the erase. For overlaid regions, 'region->size' is assigned to 'cmd->size' later in spi_nor_init_erase_cmd(), so 'erase->size' can be greater than 'len'. commit 639a82434f16a6df0ce0e7c8595976f1293940fd upstream. Some devices (especially QCA ones) are already using hardcoded partition names with colons in it. The OpenMesh A62 for example provides following mtd relevant information via cmdline: root=31:11 mtdparts=spi0.0:256k(0:SBL1),128k(0:MIBIB),384k(0:QSEE),64k(0:CDT),64k(0:DDRPARAMS),64k(0:APPSBLENV),512k(0:APPSBL),64k(0:ART),64k(custom),64k(0:KEYS),0x002b0000(kernel),0x00c80000(rootfs),15552k(inactive) rootfsname=rootfs rootwait The change to split only on the last colon between mtd-id and partitions will cause newpart to see following string for the first partition: KEYS),0x002b0000(kernel),0x00c80000(rootfs),15552k(inactive) Such a partition list cannot be parsed and thus the device fails to boot. Avoid this behavior by making sure that the start of the first part-name ("(") will also be the last byte the mtd-id split algorithm is using for its colon search. 2020-12-30mtd: rawnand: gpmi: Fix the random DMA timeout issueHan Xu1-9/+21
[ Upstream commit 7671edeb193910482a9b0c22cd32176e7de7b2ed ] To get better performance, current gpmi driver collected and chained all small DMA transfers in gpmi_nfc_exec_op, the whole chain triggered and wait for complete at the end. But some random DMA timeout found in this new driver, with the help of ftrace, we found the root cause is as follows: Take gpmi_ecc_read_page() as an example, gpmi_nfc_exec_op collected 6 DMA transfers and the DMA chain triggered at the end. It waits for bch completion and check jiffies if it's timeout. 2020-11-05ubi: check kthread_should_stop() after the setting of task stateZhihao Cheng1-0/+13
commit d005f8c6588efcfbe88099b6edafc6f58c84a9c1 upstream. A detach hung is possible when a race occurs between the detach process and the ubi background thread. The following sequences outline the race: ubi thread: if (list_empty(&ubi->works)... ubi detach: set_bit(KTHREAD_SHOULD_STOP, &kthread->flags) => by kthread_stop() wake_up_process() => ubi thread is still running, so 0 is returned ubi thread: set_current_state(TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE) schedule() => ubi thread will never be scheduled again ubi detach: wait_for_completion() => hung task! To fix that, we need to check kthread_should_stop() after we set the task state, so the ubi thread will either see the stop bit and exit or the task state is reset to runnable such that it isn't scheduled out indefinitely. 2020-10-29mtd: lpddr: fix excessive stack usage with clangArnd Bergmann1-16/+19
[ Upstream commit 3e1b6469f8324bee5927b063e2aca30d3e56b907 ] Building lpddr2_nvm with clang can result in a giant stack usage in one function: drivers/mtd/lpddr/lpddr2_nvm.c:399:12: error: stack frame size of 1144 bytes in function 'lpddr2_nvm_probe' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than=] The problem is that clang decides to build a copy of the mtd_info structure on the stack and then do a memcpy() into the actual version. It shouldn't really do it that way, but it's not strictly a bug either. As a workaround, use a static const version of the structure to assign most of the members upfront and then only set the few members that require runtime knowledge at probe time. [ Upstream commit c16f39d14a7e0ec59881fbdb22ae494907534384 ] When CONFIG_MTD_UBI_FASTMAP is enabled, fm_anchor will be assigned a free PEB during ubi_wl_init() or ubi_update_fastmap().
