2016-03-03mmc: mmci: fix an ages old detection errorLinus Walleij1-1/+1
commit 0bcb7efdff63564e80fe84dd36a9fbdfbf6697a4 upstream. commit 4956e10903fd ("ARM: 6244/1: mmci: add variant data and default MCICLOCK support") added variant data for ARM, U300 and Ux500 variants. The Nomadik NHK8815/8820 variant was erroneously labeled as a U300 variant, and when the proper Nomadik variant was later introduced in commit 34fd421349ff ("ARM: 7378/1: mmci: add support for the Nomadik MMCI variant") this was not fixes. Let's say this fixes the latter commit as there was no proper Nomadik support until then. Fixes: 34fd421349ff ("ARM: 7378/1: mmci: add support for the Nomadik...") 2016-03-03mmc: sdhci: Fix sdhci_runtime_pm_bus_on/off()Adrian Hunter1-2/+2
commit 5c671c410c8704800f4f1673b6f572137e7e6ddd upstream. sdhci has a legacy facility to prevent runtime suspend if the bus power is on. This is needed in cases where the power to the card is dependent on the bus power. It is controlled by a pair of functions: sdhci_runtime_pm_bus_on() and sdhci_runtime_pm_bus_off(). These functions use a boolean variable 'bus_on' to ensure changes are always paired. There is an additional check for 'runtime_suspended' which is the problem. In fact, its use is ill-conceived as the only requirement for the logic is that 'on' and 'off' are paired, which is actually broken by the check, for example if the bus power is turned on during runtime resume. So remove the check. Signed-off-by: Adrian Hunter <adrian.hunter@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Ulf Hansson <ulf.hansson@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Jiri Slaby <jslaby@suse.cz>
2016-03-03mmc: remove bondage between REQ_META and reliable writeLuca Porzio1-8/+3
commit d3df0465db00cf4ed9f90d0bfc3b827d32b9c796 upstream. Anytime a write operation is performed with Reliable Write flag enabled, the eMMC device is enforced to bypass the cache and do a write to the underling NVM device by Jedec specification; this causes a performance penalty since write operations can't be optimized by the device cache. In our tests, we replayed a typical mobile daily trace pattern and found ~9% overall time reduction in trace replay by using this patch. Also the write ops within 4KB~64KB chunk size range get a 40~60% performance improvement by using the patch (as this range of write chunks are the ones affected by REQ_META). This patch has been discussed in the Mobile & Embedded Linux Storage Forum and it's the results of feedbacks from many people. We also checked with fsdevl and f2fs mailing list developers that this change in the usage of REQ_META is not affecting FS behavior and we got positive feedbacks. 2015-08-04mmc: card: Fixup request missing in mmc_blk_issue_rw_rqDing Wang1-3/+5
commit 29535f7b797df35cc9b6b3bca635591cdd3dd2a8 upstream. The current handler of MMC_BLK_CMD_ERR in mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq function may cause new coming request permanent missing when the ongoing request (previoulsy started) complete end. The problem scenario is as follows: (1) Request A is ongoing; (2) Request B arrived, and finally mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq() is called; (3) Request A encounters the MMC_BLK_CMD_ERR error; (4) In the error handling of MMC_BLK_CMD_ERR, suppose mmc_blk_cmd_err() end request A completed and return zero. Continue the error handling, suppose mmc_blk_reset() reset device success; (5) Continue the execution, while loop completed because variable ret is zero now; (6) Finally, mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq() return without processing request B. The process related to the missing request may wait that IO request complete forever, possibly crashing the application or hanging the system. Fix this issue by starting new request when reset success. 2015-05-20mmc: sh_mmcif: Fix timeout value for command requestTakeshi Kihara1-1/+1
commit bad4371d87d1d1ed1aecd9c9cc21c41ac3f289c8 upstream. f9fd54f22e ("mmc: sh_mmcif: Use msecs_to_jiffies() for host->timeout") changed the timeout value from 1000 jiffies to 1s. In the case where HZ is 1000 the values are the same. However, for smaller HZ values the timeout is now smaller, 1s instead of 10s in the case of HZ=100. Since the timeout occurs in spite of a normal data transfer a timeout of 10s seems more appropriate. This restores the previous timeout in the case where HZ=100 and results in an increase over the previous timeout for larger values of HZ. commit 4e93b9a6abc0d028daf3c8a00cb77b679d8a4df4 upstream. During kernel boot, it will try to read some logical sectors of each block device node for the possible partition table. But since RPMB partition is special and can not be accessed by normal eMMC read / write CMDs, it will cause below error messages during kernel boot: ... mmc0: Got data interrupt 0x00000002 even though no data operation was in progress. mmcblk0rpmb: error -110 transferring data, sector 0, nr 32, cmd response 0x900, card status 0xb00 mmcblk0rpmb: retrying using single block read mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 mmcblk0rpmb: timed out sending r/w cmd command, card status 0x400900 end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0rpmb, sector 0 Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0rpmb, logical block 0 end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0rpmb, sector 8 Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0rpmb, logical block 1 end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0rpmb, sector 16 Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0rpmb, logical block 2 end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0rpmb, sector 24 Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0rpmb, logical block 3 ... 2015-03-02mmc: sdhci-pxav3: fix setting of pdata->clk_delay_cyclesJisheng Zhang1-2/+2
commit 14460dbaf7a5a0488963fdb8232ad5c8a8cca7b7 upstream. Current code checks "clk_delay_cycles > 0" to know whether the optional "mrvl,clk_delay_cycles" is set or not. But of_property_read_u32() doesn't touch clk_delay_cycles if the property is not set. And type of clk_delay_cycles is u32, so we may always set pdata->clk_delay_cycles as a random value. 2015-01-26mmc: sdhci: Fix sleep in atomic after inserting SD cardKrzysztof Kozlowski1-2/+6
commit 2836766a9d0bd02c66073f8dd44796e6cc23848d upstream. Sleep in atomic context happened on Trats2 board after inserting or removing SD card because mmc_gpio_get_cd() was called under spin lock. Fix this by moving card detection earlier, before acquiring spin lock. The mmc_gpio_get_cd() call does not have to be protected by spin lock because it does not access any sdhci internal data. The sdhci_do_get_cd() call access host flags (SDHCI_DEVICE_DEAD). After moving it out side of spin lock it could theoretically race with driver removal but still there is no actual protection against manual card eject. commit d1419d50c1bf711e9fd27b516a739c86b23f7cf9 upstream. Current code erroneously fill the last byte of R2 response with an undefined value. In addition, the controller actually 'offloads' the last byte (CRC7, end bit) while receiving R2 response and thus it's impossible to get the actual value. This could cause mmc stack to obtain inconsistent CID from the same card after resume and misidentify it as a different card. Fix by assigning dummy CRC and end bit: {7'b0, 1} = 0x1 to the last byte of R2. commit 77a0122e0838663795651aa0beb2325156f98c09 upstream. A host controller for a SD card may need a GPIO for card detect in order to wake up from runtime suspend when a card is inserted. If that GPIO is not configured, then the host controller will not wake up. Fix that for the affected devices by not enabling runtime PM unless the GPIO is successfully set up. This affects BYT sd card host controller which had runtime PM enabled from v3.11. For completeness, the MFD sd card host controller is flagged also. The original patch before rebasing (see link below) was tested on v3.11.10 and v3.12.4 although the patch applied with some offsets and fuzz. 2013-12-04mmc: atmel-mci: abort transfer on timeout errorLudovic Desroches1-0/+7
commit c1fa3426aa5c782724c97394303d52228206eda4 upstream. When a software timeout occurs, the transfer is not stopped. In DMA case, it causes DMA channel to be stuck because the transfer is still active causing following transfers to be queued but not computed. 2013-09-21ARM: shmobile: update SDHI DT compatibility string to the <unit>-<soc> formatGuennadi Liakhovetski1-8/+8
Currently DT compatibility strings of both types can be found in the kernel sources: <unit>-<soc> and <soc>-<unit>, whereas a unique format should be followed and the former one is preferred. This patch converts the SDHI MMC driver and its users to the common standard. This is safe for now, since ATM no real products are using this driver with DT. Again, a bit of domain overlap with SoC and DT branches, but most of this is around legacy code and board support.
