2014-04-02dib8000: make 32 bits read atomicMauro Carvalho Chehab1-8/+25
commit 5ac64ba12aca3bef18e61c866583155a3bbf81c4 upstream. As the dvb-frontend kthread can be called anytime, it can race with some get status ioctl. So, it seems better to avoid one to race with the other while reading a 32 bits register. I can't see any other reason for having a mutex there at I2C, except to provide such kind of protection, as the I2C core already has a mutex to protect I2C transfers. Note: instead of this approach, it could eventually remove the dib8000 specific mutex for it, and either group the 4 ops into one xfer or to manually control the I2C mutex. The main advantage of the current approach is that the changes are smaller and more puntual. 2013-10-27hdpvr: fix iteration over uninitialized lists in hdpvr_probe()Alexey Khoroshilov1-5/+6
commit 2e923a0527ac439e135b9961e58d3acd876bba10 upstream. free_buff_list and rec_buff_list are initialized in the middle of hdpvr_probe(), but if something bad happens before that, error handling code calls hdpvr_delete(), which contains iteration over the lists (via hdpvr_free_buffers()). The patch moves the lists initialization to the beginning and by the way fixes goto label in error handling of registering videodev. Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org). 2013-07-27media: dmxdev: remove dvb_ringbuffer_flush() on writer sideSoeren Moch1-6/+2
commit 414abbd2cd4c2618895f02ed3a76ec6647281436 upstream. In dvb_ringbuffer lock-less synchronizationof reader and writer threads is done with separateread and write pointers. Sincedvb_ringbuffer_flush() modifies the read pointer, this function must not be called from the writer thread. This patch removes the dvb_ringbuffer_flush() calls in the dmxdev ringbuffer write functions, this fixes Oopses "Unable to handle kernel paging request" I could observe for the call chaindvb_demux_read ->dvb_dmxdev_buffer_read -> dvb_ringbuffer_read_user -> __copy_to_user (the reader side of the ringbuffer). The flush calls at the write side are not necessary anyway since ringbuffer_flush is also called in dvb_dmxdev_buffer_read() when an error condition is set in the ringbuffer. This patch should also be applied to stable kernels. 2013-03-06Avoid sysfs oops when an rc_dev's raw device is absentDouglas Bagnall1-2/+3
commit 720bb6436ff30fccad05cf5bdf961ea5b1f5686d upstream. For some reason, when the lirc daemon learns that a usb remote control has been unplugged, it wants to read the sysfs attributes of the disappearing device. This is useful for uncovering transient inconsistencies, but less so for keeping the system running when such inconsistencies exist. Under some circumstances (like every time I unplug my dvb stick from my laptop), lirc catches an rc_dev whose raw event handler has been removed (presumably by ir_raw_event_unregister), and proceeds to interrogate the raw protocols supported by the NULL pointer. This patch avoids the NULL dereference, and ignores the issue of how this state of affairs came about in the first place. Version 2 incorporates changes recommended by Mauro Carvalho Chehab (-ENODEV instead of -EINVAL, and a signed-off-by). 2013-03-06omap_vout: find_vma() needs ->mmap_sem heldAl Viro1-5/+7
commit 55ee64b30a38d688232e5eb2860467dddc493573 upstream. Walking rbtree while it's modified is a Bad Idea(tm); besides, the result of find_vma() can be freed just as it's getting returned to caller. Fortunately, it's easy to fix - just take ->mmap_sem a bit earlier (and don't bother with find_vma() at all if virtp >= PAGE_OFFSET - in that case we don't even look at its result). While we are at it, what prevents VIDIOC_PREPARE_BUF calling v4l_prepare_buf() -> (e.g) vb2_ioctl_prepare_buf() -> vb2_prepare_buf() -> __buf_prepare() -> __qbuf_userptr() -> vb2_vmalloc_get_userptr() -> find_vma(), AFAICS without having taken ->mmap_sem anywhere in process? The code flow is bloody convoluted and depends on a bunch of things done by initialization, so I certainly might've missed something... 2013-03-06v4l: Reset subdev v4l2_dev field to NULL if registration failsLaurent Pinchart1-16/+14
commit 317efce991620adc589b3005b9baed433dcb2a56 upstream. When subdev registration fails the subdev v4l2_dev field is left to a non-NULL value. Later calls to v4l2_device_unregister_subdev() will consider the subdev as registered and will module_put() the subdev module without any matching module_get(). commit 8791d63af0cf113725ae4cb8cba9492814c59a93 upstream. This patch is just a minor update to one titled "imon: Input from ffdc device type ignored" from Corinna Vinschen. An earlier patch to prevent an oops when we got early callbacks also has the nasty side-effect of wedging imon hardware, as we don't acknowledge the urb. Rework the check slightly here to bypass processing the packet, as the driver isn't yet fully initialized, but still acknowlege the urb and submit a new rx_urb. Do this for both interfaces -- irrelevant for ffdc hardware, but relevant for newer hardware, though newer hardware doesn't spew the constant stream of data as soon as the hardware is initialized like the older ffdc devices, so they'd be less likely to trigger this anyway... Tested with both an ffdc device and an 0042 device. 2012-01-26uvcvideo: Fix integer overflow in uvc_ioctl_ctrl_map()Haogang Chen2-0/+10
commit 806e23e95f94a27ee445022d724060b9b45cb64a upstream. There is a potential integer overflow in uvc_ioctl_ctrl_map(). When a large xmap->menu_count is passed from the userspace, the subsequent call to kmalloc() will allocate a buffer smaller than expected. map->menu_count and map->menu_info would later be used in a loop (e.g. in uvc_query_v4l2_ctrl), which leads to out-of-bound access. The patch checks the ioctl argument and returns -EINVAL for zero or too large values in xmap->menu_count. 2012-01-26V4L/DVB: v4l2-ioctl: integer overflow in video_usercopy()Dan Carpenter1-0/+4
commit 6c06108be53ca5e94d8b0e93883d534dd9079646 upstream. If ctrls->count is too high the multiplication could overflow and array_size would be lower than expected. Mauro and Hans Verkuil suggested that we cap it at 1024. That comes from the maximum number of controls with lots of room for expantion. $ grep V4L2_CID include/linux/videodev2.h | wc -l 211 Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-12-31gspca: Fix falling back to lower isoc alt settingsMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
The current gspca core code has a regression where it no longer properly falls back to lower alt settings when there is not enough bandwidth. This causes many iso based usb-1 cameras to not work when plugged into a usb2 hub or a sandybridge chipset motherboard! This patch fixes this. 2011-12-12Revert "[media] af9015: limit I2C access to keep FW happy"Mauro Carvalho Chehab2-104/+0
This reverts commit ff83bd82cb343d37b5ab8e402aaad9ef33d03f1e. As requested by Antti: From a talk with him at #linuxtv irc, he strong feeling that some apps like MythTV will do a lot a lot of I2C I/O and now it adds locks, with utimatelly means more delays. This could cause bad effects. There is a new patch for 3.3 that re-writes af9013 in order to limit I2C I/O. and thus those patches could be nice to have together because those user who has has problems are most likely MythTV users. So, let's revert this commit for now. Requested-by: Antti Palosaari <crope@iki.fi> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>

2011-12-11[media] ati_remote: switch to single-byte scancodesAnssi Hannula4-229/+220
The ati_remote driver currently uses 2-byte scancodes. However, one of those bytes is actually a checksum and therefore shouldn't be considered as part of the scancode. Fix the driver to only use the actual data byte as a scancode and to check the checksum itself. Update the bundled keymaps accordingly. Since ati_remote was only migrated to the rc subsystem for 3.2, the previous scancodes weren't emitted on any stable kernel.
