2021-06-11media: uvcvideo: Fix pixel format change for Elgato Cam Link 4KBenjamin Drung1-0/+27
The Elgato Cam Link 4K HDMI video capture card reports to support three different pixel formats, where the first format depends on the connected HDMI device. ``` $ v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --list-formats-ext ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT Type: Video Capture [0]: 'NV12' (Y/CbCr 4:2:0) Size: Discrete 3840x2160 Interval: Discrete 0.033s (29.970 fps) [1]: 'NV12' (Y/CbCr 4:2:0) Size: Discrete 3840x2160 Interval: Discrete 0.033s (29.970 fps) [2]: 'YU12' (Planar YUV 4:2:0) Size: Discrete 3840x2160 Interval: Discrete 0.033s (29.970 fps) ``` Changing the pixel format to anything besides the first pixel format does not work: ``` $ v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --try-fmt-video pixelformat=YU12 Format Video Capture: Width/Height : 3840/2160 Pixel Format : 'NV12' (Y/CbCr 4:2:0) Field : None Bytes per Line : 3840 Size Image : 12441600 Colorspace : sRGB Transfer Function : Rec. 709 YCbCr/HSV Encoding: Rec. 709 Quantization : Default (maps to Limited Range) Flags : ``` User space applications like VLC might show an error message on the terminal in that case: ``` libv4l2: error set_fmt gave us a different result than try_fmt! ``` Depending on the error handling of the user space applications, they might display a distorted video, because they use the wrong pixel format for decoding the stream. The Elgato Cam Link 4K responds to the USB video probe VS_PROBE_CONTROL/VS_COMMIT_CONTROL with a malformed data structure: The second byte contains bFormatIndex (instead of being the second byte of bmHint). The first byte is always zero. The third byte is always 1. The firmware bug was reported to Elgato on 2020-12-01 and it was forwarded by the support team to the developers as feature request. There is no firmware update available since then. The latest firmware for Elgato Cam Link 4K as of 2021-03-23 has MCU 20.02.19 and FPGA 67. Therefore correct the malformed data structure for this device. The change was successfully tested with VLC, OBS, and Chromium using different pixel formats (YUYV, NV12, YU12), resolutions (3840x2160, 1920x1080), and frame rates (29.970 and 59.940 fps). 2021-04-06media: uvcvideo: Support devices that report an OT as an entity sourceLaurent Pinchart1-0/+32
Some devices reference an output terminal as the source of extension units. This is incorrect, as output terminals only have an input pin, and thus can't be connected to any entity in the forward direction. The resulting topology would cause issues when registering the media controller graph. To avoid this problem, connect the extension unit to the source of the output terminal instead. While at it, and while no device has been reported to be affected by this issue, also handle forward scans where two output terminals would be connected together, and skip the terminals found through such an invalid connection. 2021-03-19media: uvcvideo: Use dma_alloc_noncontiguous APIRicardo Ribalda2-26/+73
On architectures where there is no coherent caching such as ARM use the dma_alloc_noncontiguous API and handle manually the cache flushing using dma_sync_sgtable(). If the architechture has coherent cache, the API falls back to alloc_dma_pages, so we can remove the coherent caching code-path from the driver, making it simpler. With this patch on the affected architectures we can measure up to 20x performance improvement in uvc_video_copy_data_work(). 2021-01-27media: uvcvideo: Implement UVC_EXT_GPIO_UNITRicardo Ribalda4-0/+147
Some devices can implement a physical switch to disable the input of the camera on demand. Think of it like an elegant privacy sticker. The system can read the status of the privacy switch via a GPIO. It is important to know the status of the switch, e.g. to notify the user when the camera will produce black frames and a videochat application is used. In some systems, the GPIO is connected to the main SoC instead of the camera controller, with the connection reported by the system firmware (ACPI or DT). In that case, the UVC device isn't aware of the GPIO. We need to implement a virtual entity to handle the GPIO fully on the driver side. For example, for ACPI-based systems, the GPIO is reported in the USB device object: Scope (\_SB.PCI0.XHCI.RHUB.HS07) { /.../ Name (_CRS, ResourceTemplate () // _CRS: Current Resource Settings { GpioIo (Exclusive, PullDefault, 0x0000, 0x0000, IoRestrictionOutputOnly, "\\_SB.PCI0.GPIO", 0x00, ResourceConsumer, , ) { // Pin list 0x0064 } }) Name (_DSD, Package (0x02) // _DSD: Device-Specific Data { ToUUID ("daffd814-6eba-4d8c-8a91-bc9bbf4aa301") /* Device Properties for _DSD */, Package (0x01) { Package (0x02) { "privacy-gpio", Package (0x04) { \_SB.PCI0.XHCI.RHUB.HS07, Zero, Zero, One } } } }) } Signed-off-by: Ricardo Ribalda <ribalda@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>

2020-09-10media: uvcvideo: Ensure all probed info is returned to v4l2Adam Goode1-0/+30
bFrameIndex and bFormatIndex can be negotiated by the camera during probing, resulting in the camera choosing a different format than expected. v4l2 can already accommodate such changes, but the code was not updating the proper fields. Without such a change, v4l2 would potentially interpret the payload incorrectly, causing corrupted output. This was happening on the Elgato HD60 S+, which currently always renegotiates to format 1. As an aside, the Elgato firmware is buggy and should not be renegotating, but it is still a valid thing for the camera to do. Both macOS and Windows will properly probe and read uncorrupted images from this camera. With this change, both qv4l2 and chromium can now read uncorrupted video from the Elgato HD60 S+. 2020-09-10media: uvcvideo: Silence shift-out-of-bounds warningLaurent Pinchart1-1/+5
UBSAN reports a shift-out-of-bounds warning in uvc_get_le_value(). The report is correct, but the issue should be harmless as the computed value isn't used when the shift is negative. This may however cause incorrect behaviour if a negative shift could generate adverse side effects (such as a trap on some architectures for instance). Regardless of whether that may happen or not, silence the warning as a full WARN backtrace isn't nice. 2020-09-10media: uvcvideo: Cleanup uvc_ctrl_add_info() error handlingHans de Goede1-10/+3
There is only 1 error exit in uvc_ctrl_add_info(), so using goto style error handling is not necessary. Also the kfree(ctrl->uvc_data) on error is not necessary, because the only error exit is for the kzalloc() of ctrl->uvc_data failing. Remove all the error handling cruft and simply do "return -ENOMEM" on kzalloc() failure. 2020-09-10media: uvcvideo: Fix uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info() not having any effectHans de Goede1-7/+7
uvc_ctrl_add_info() calls uvc_ctrl_get_flags() which will override the fixed-up flags set by uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info(). uvc_ctrl_init_xu_ctrl() already calls uvc_ctrl_get_flags() before calling uvc_ctrl_add_info(), so the uvc_ctrl_get_flags() call in uvc_ctrl_add_info() is not necessary for xu ctrls. This commit moves the uvc_ctrl_get_flags() call for normal controls from uvc_ctrl_add_info() to uvc_ctrl_init_ctrl(), so that we no longer call uvc_ctrl_get_flags() twice for xu controls and so that we no longer override the fixed-up flags set by uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info(). This fixes the xu motor controls not working properly on a Logitech 046d:08cc, and presumably also on the other Logitech models which have a quirk for this in the uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info() function.
