2021-07-20media: gspca/sunplus: fix zero-length control requestsJohan Hovold1-2/+6

The direction of the pipe argument must match the request-type direction bit or control requests may fail depending on the host-controller-driver implementation. Control transfers without a data stage are treated as OUT requests by the USB stack and should be using usb_sndctrlpipe(). Failing to do so will now trigger a warning. Fix the single zero-length control request which was using the read-register helper, and update the helper so that zero-length reads fail with an error message instead. [ Upstream commit 4f4e6644cd876c844cdb3bea2dd7051787d5ae25 ] For two of the supported sensors the stv06xx driver allocates memory which is stored in sd->sensor_priv. This memory is freed on a disconnect, but if the probe() fails, then it isn't freed and so this leaks memory. Add a new probe_error() op that drivers can use to free any allocated memory in case there was a probe failure. 2020-12-30media: gspca: Fix memory leak in probeAlan Stern1-0/+1
commit e469d0b09a19496e1972a20974bbf55b728151eb upstream. The gspca driver leaks memory when a probe fails. gspca_dev_probe2() calls v4l2_device_register(), which takes a reference to the underlying device node (in this case, a USB interface). But the failure pathway neglects to call v4l2_device_unregister(), the routine responsible for dropping this reference. Consequently the memory for the USB interface and its device never gets released. This patch adds the missing function call. Make sure to check that we have two alternate settings and at least one endpoint before accessing the second altsetting structure and dereferencing the endpoint arrays. This specifically avoids dereferencing NULL-pointers or corrupting memory when a device does not have the expected descriptors. Note that the sanity check in cit_get_packet_size() is not redundant as the driver is mixing looking up altsettings by index and by number, which may not coincide. 2019-05-31media: gspca: do not resubmit URBs when streaming has stoppedHans Verkuil1-2/+6
[ Upstream commit e6f8bd59c28f758feea403a70d6c3ef28c50959f ] When streaming is stopped all URBs are killed, but in fill_frame and in bulk_irq this results in an attempt to resubmit the killed URB. That is not what you want and causes spurious kernel messages. So check if streaming has stopped before resubmitting. Also check against gspca_dev->streaming rather than vb2_start_streaming_called() since vb2_start_streaming_called() will return true when in stop_streaming, but gspca_dev->streaming is set to false when stop_streaming is called. 2019-05-31media: gspca: Kill URBs on USB device disconnectEzequiel Garcia1-1/+3
[ Upstream commit 9b9ea7c2b57a0c9c3341fc6db039d1f7971a432e ] In order to prevent ISOC URBs from being infinitely resubmitted, the driver's USB disconnect handler must kill all the in-flight URBs. While here, change the URB packet status message to a debug level, to avoid spamming the console too much. This commit fixes a lockup caused by an interrupt storm coming from the URB completion handler. As a result some gspca drivers (spca561 being one of them) reported frame overflows. Modify the code to align the buffer sizes to the next page size, just as the original code did. The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). 2018-05-28media: gspca_zc3xx: Enable short exposure times for OV7648Ondrej Zary1-3/+6
The 50Hz and 60Hz power line frequency settings disable short (1/120s and 1/100s) exposure times for banding filter (causing overexposed image near lamps). No flicker setting enables them (when banding filter is disabled and they're not used). Seems that the logic is just the wrong way around. (This bug came from the Windows driver.) 2018-05-28media: gspca: Kill all URBs before releasing any of themEzequiel Garcia1-4/+11
Some subdrivers access the gspca_dev->urb array in the completion handler. To prevent use-after-free (actually, NULL dereferences) we need to synchronously kill all the URBs before we release them. In particular, this is currently the case for drivers such as sn9c20x and sonixj, which access the gspca_dev->urb[0] in the context of completion handler for *any* of the URBs. This commit changes the destroy_urb implementation, so it kills all URBs first, and then proceed to set the URBs to NULL in the array and release them. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman5-0/+5
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. The help text should be indented by at least two spaces after the 'help' separator. This is both good practice and the media_build system for building media drivers makes this assumption. I went through all Kconfigs under drivers/media and fixed any bad help sections. This makes it conform to the common practice and should fix problems with 'make menuconfig' when using media_build. This is due to a "WARNING" message that media_build can insert in the Kconfig and that assumes the help text is indented by at least two spaces. If not, then the Kconfig becomes invalid and 'make menuconfig' fails.
