This patch replaces max(a, min(b, c)) by clamp(b, a, c) in the solo6x10
driver. This improves the readability and more importantly, for the
solo6x10-p2m.c file, this reduces on my system (x86-64, gcc 13):
- the preprocessed size from 121 MiB to 4.5 MiB;
- the build CPU time from 46.8 s to 1.6 s;
- the build memory from 2786 MiB to 98MiB.
In fine, this allows this relatively simple C file to be built on a
32-bit system.

is used in the next line without a check.

When saa7146_register_device and saa7146_vv_init fails, budget_av_attach
should free the resources it allocates, like the error-handling of

The buf[4] value comes from the user via ts_play(). It is a value in
the u8 range. The final length we pass to av7110_ipack_instant_repack()
is "len - (buf[4] + 1) - 4" so add a check to ensure that the length is
not negative. It's not clear that passing a negative len value does
anything bad necessarily, but it's not best practice.
With the new bounds checking the "if (!len)" condition is no longer
possible or required so remove that.

There may be some a race condition between timer function
bttv_irq_timeout and bttv_remove. The timer is setup in
probe and there is no timer_delete operation in remove
function. When it hit kfree btv, the function might still be
invoked, which will cause use after free bug.
This bug is found by static analysis, it may be false positive.
Fix it by adding del_timer_sync invoking to the remove function.

In commit 9011e49d54dc ("modules: only allow symbol_get of
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL modules") the use of symbol_get is properly restricted
to GPL-only marked symbols. This interacts oddly with the DVB logic
which only uses dvb_attach() to load the dvb driver which then uses
symbol_get().
Fix this up by properly marking all of the dvb_attach attach symbols as
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL().

IRQ handler netup_spi_interrupt() takes spinlock spi->lock. The lock
is initialized in netup_spi_init(). However, irq handler is registered
before initializing the lock.
Spinlock dma->lock and i2c->lock suffer from the same problem.
Fix this by registering the irq at the end of probe.

When Universal DVB card is detaching, netup_unidvb_dma_fini()
uses del_timer() to stop dma->timeout timer. But when timer
handler netup_unidvb_dma_timeout() is running, del_timer()
could not stop it. As a result, the use-after-free bug could
happen. The process is shown below:

In saa7134_initdev, it will call saa7134_hwinit1. There are three
function invoking here: saa7134_video_init1, saa7134_ts_init1
and saa7134_vbi_init1.
All of them will init a timer with same function. Take
saa7134_video_init1 as an example. It'll bound &dev->video_q.timeout
with saa7134_buffer_timeout.
In buffer_activate, the timer funtcion is started.
If we remove the module or device which will call saa7134_finidev
to make cleanup, there may be a unfinished work. The
possible sequence is as follows, which will cause a
typical UAF bug.
Fix it by canceling the timer works accordingly before cleanup in
saa7134_finidev.

In dm1105_probe, it called dm1105_ir_init and bound
&dm1105->ir.work with dm1105_emit_key.
When it handles IRQ request with dm1105_irq,
it may call schedule_work to start the work.
When we call dm1105_remove to remove the driver, there

If device_register() returns error in solo_sysfs_init(), the
name allocated by dev_set_name() need be freed. As comment of
device_register() says, it should use put_device() to give up
the reference in the error path. So fix this by calling
put_device(), then the name can be freed in kobject_cleanup().

This is because the driver has initialized the i2c related resources
in cx23885_dev_setup() but not released them in error handling, fix this

Some cx88 video cards may have transport stream status interrupts set
to 1 from cold start, causing errors like this:

According to CX2388x datasheet, the interrupt status register should be
cleared before enabling IRQs to stream video.

The VIDIOC_G_FBUF and related overlay ioctls no longer worked (-ENOTTY was
returned).
The root cause was the introduction of the caps field in ivtv-driver.h.
While loading the ivtvfb module would update the video_device device_caps
field with V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_OUTPUT_OVERLAY it would not update that caps
field, and that's what the overlay ioctls would look at.
It's a bad idea to keep information in two places, so drop the caps field
and only use vdev.device_caps.

'dev' will *always* be set by list_for_each_entry().
It is incorrect to assume that the iterator value will be NULL if the
list is empty.
Instead of checking the pointer it should be checked if
the list is empty.

Commit 2161536516ed ("media: media/pci: set device_caps in struct video_device")
introduced a regression: V4L2_CAP_TUNER is always present in device_caps,
even when the device has no tuner.

In hexium_attach(dev, info), saa7146_vv_init() is called to allocate
a new memory for dev->vv_data. saa7146_vv_release() will be called on
failure of saa7146_register_device(). There is a dereference of
dev->vv_data in saa7146_vv_release(), which could lead to a NULL
pointer dereference on failure of saa7146_vv_init().
Fix this bug by adding a check of saa7146_vv_init().
This bug was found by a static analyzer. The analysis employs
differential checking to identify inconsistent security operations
(e.g., checks or kfrees) between two code paths and confirms that the
inconsistent operations are not recovered in the current function or
the callers, so they constitute bugs.
Note that, as a bug found by static analysis, it can be a false
positive or hard to trigger. Multiple researchers have cross-reviewed
the bug.
Builds with CONFIG_VIDEO_HEXIUM_GEMINI=m show no new warnings,
and our static analyzer no longer warns about this code.

In hexium_attach(dev, info), saa7146_vv_init() is called to allocate
a new memory for dev->vv_data. In hexium_detach(), saa7146_vv_release()
will be called and there is a dereference of dev->vv_data in
saa7146_vv_release(), which could lead to a NULL pointer dereference
on failure of saa7146_vv_init() according to the following logic.
Both hexium_attach() and hexium_detach() are callback functions of
the variable 'extension', so there exists a possible call chain directly
from hexium_attach() to hexium_detach():
hexium_attach(dev, info) -- fail to alloc memory to dev->vv_data

A out-of-bounds bug can be triggered by an interrupt, the reason for
this bug is the lack of checking of register values.
In flexcop_pci_isr, the driver reads value from a register and uses it as
a dma address. Finally, this address will be passed to the count parameter
of find_next_packet. If this value is larger than the size of dma, the
index of buffer will be out-of-bounds.
Fix this by adding a check after reading the value of the register.

Currently a call to snd_card_new that fails will set card with a NULL
pointer, this causes a null pointer dereference on the error cleanup
path when card it passed to snd_card_free. Fix this by adding a new
error exit path that does not call snd_card_free and exiting via this
new path.

The interrupt handling should be related to the firmware version. If
the driver matches an old firmware, then the driver should not handle
interrupt such as i2c or dma, otherwise it will cause some errors.

Fix an 11-year old bug in ngene_command_config_free_buf() while
addressing the following warnings caught with -Warray-bounds:

The problem is that the original code is trying to copy 6 bytes of
data into a one-byte size member _config_ of the wrong structue
FW_CONFIGURE_BUFFERS, in a single call to memcpy(). This causes a
legitimate compiler warning because memcpy() overruns the length
of &com.cmd.ConfigureBuffers.config. It seems that the right
structure is FW_CONFIGURE_FREE_BUFFERS, instead, because it contains
6 more members apart from the header _hdr_. Also, the name of
the function ngene_command_config_free_buf() suggests that the actual
intention is to ConfigureFreeBuffers, instead of ConfigureBuffers
(which takes place in the function ngene_command_config_buf(), above).
Fix this by enclosing those 6 members of struct FW_CONFIGURE_FREE_BUFFERS
into new struct config, and use &com.cmd.ConfigureFreeBuffers.config as
the destination address, instead of &com.cmd.ConfigureBuffers.config,
when calling memcpy().
This also helps with the ongoing efforts to globally enable
-Warray-bounds and get us closer to being able to tighten the
FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy().

The saa6588_ioctl() function expects to get called from other kernel
functions with a 'saa6588_command' pointer, but I found nothing stops it
from getting called from user space instead, which seems rather dangerous.
The same thing happens in the davinci vpbe driver with its VENC_GET_FLD
command.
As a quick fix, add a separate .command() callback pointer for this
driver and change the two callers over to that. This change can easily
get backported to stable kernels if necessary, but since there are only
two drivers, we may want to eventually replace this with a set of more
specialized callbacks in the long run.

Change v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_remote_subdev semantics
so it allocates the struct v4l2_async_subdev pointer.
This makes the API consistent: the v4l2-async subdevice addition
functions have now a unified usage model. This model is simpler,
as it makes v4l2-async responsible for the allocation and release
of the subdevice descriptor, and no longer something the driver
has to worry about.
On the user side, the change makes the API simpler for the drivers
to use and less error-prone.

In 'bt878_irq', the driver calls 'tasklet_schedule', but this tasklet is
set in 'dvb_bt8xx_load_card' of another driver 'dvb-bt8xx'.
However, this two drivers are separate. The user may not load the
'dvb-bt8xx' driver when loading the 'bt8xx' driver, that is, the tasklet
has not been initialized when 'tasklet_schedule' is called, so it is
necessary to check whether the tasklet is initialized in 'bt878_probe'.
Fix this by adding a check at the end of bt878_probe.

There is a problem with the tasklet in bt878. bt->tasklet is set by
dvb-bt8xx.ko, and bt878.ko can be loaded independently.
In this case if interrupt comes it may cause null-ptr-dereference.
To solve this issue, we check if the tasklet is actually set before
calling tasklet_schedule.

The cobalt_s_bit_sysctrl reads the old register value over PCI,
then changes a bit and sets writes the new value to the register.
This is used among other things for setting the HPD output pin.
But if the HPD is changed for multiple inputs at the same time,
then this causes a race condition where a stale value is read.
Serialize this function with a mutex.

The new AMD IOMMU DMA implementation concatenates sglist entries under
certain conditions, and because saa7134 accessed the length member
directly, it did not support this scenario.
This fixes IO_PAGE_FAULTs and choppy DMA audio by using the
sg_dma_len macro.

Add a fix for the memory leak bugs that can occur when the
saa7164_encoder_register() function fails.
The function allocates memory without explicitly freeing
it when errors occur.
Add a better error handling that deallocate the unused buffers before the
function exits during a fail.

On AMD Family 15h (Models 30h-3fh), I/O Memory Management Unit
RiSC engine sometimes stalls, requiring a reset.
As result, MythTV and w-scan won't scan channels on the AMD Kaveri
APU with the Hauppauge QuadHD TV tuner card.
For the solution I added the Input/Output Memory Management Unit's PCI
Identity of 0x1423 to the broken_dev_id[] array, which is used by
a quirks logic meant to fix similar problems with other AMD
chipsets.

After the first IR message, interrupts are no longer received. In addition,
the code generates a timeout IR message of 10ms but sets the timeout value
to 100ms, so no timeout was ever generated.
