2019-09-24mISDN: enforce CAP_NET_RAW for raw socketsOri Nimron1-0/+2
When creating a raw AF_ISDN socket, CAP_NET_RAW needs to be checked first. Signed-off-by: Ori Nimron <orinimron123@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2019-08-23mISDN: Delete unnecessary checks before the macro call “dev_kfree_skb”Markus Elfring4-16/+8
The dev_kfree_skb() function performs also input parameter validation. Thus the test around the shown calls is not needed. This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software. Signed-off-by: Markus Elfring <elfring@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

We need to pick up post-rc1 changes to various document files so they don't get lost in Mauro's massive RST conversion push.
2019-06-08isdn: mISDN: remove a bogus reference to a non-existing docMauro Carvalho Chehab1-2/+0
The mISDN driver was added on those commits: 960366cf8dbb ("Add mISDN DSP") 1b2b03f8e514 ("Add mISDN core files") 04578dd330f1 ("Define AF_ISDN and PF_ISDN") e4ac9bc1f668 ("Add mISDN driver") None of them added a Documentation/isdn/mISDN.cert file. Also, whatever were supposed to be written there on that time, probably doesn't make any sense nowadays, as I doubt isdn would have any massive changes. So, let's just get rid of the broken reference, in order to shut up a warning produced by ./scripts/documentation-file-ref-check. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core Pull yet more SPDX updates from Greg KH: "Here is another set of reviewed patches that adds SPDX tags to different kernel files, based on a set of rules that are being used to parse the comments to try to determine that the license of the file is "GPL-2.0-or-later" or "GPL-2.0-only". Only the "obvious" versions of these matches are included here, a number of "non-obvious" variants of text have been found but those have been postponed for later review and analysis. There is also a patch in here to add the proper SPDX header to a bunch of Kbuild files that we have missed in the past due to new files being added and forgetting that Kbuild uses two different file names for Makefiles. This issue was reported by the Kbuild maintainer. These patches have been out for review on the linux-spdx@vger mailing list, and while they were created by automatic tools, they were hand-verified by a bunch of different people, all whom names are on the patches are reviewers" * tag 'spdx-5.2-rc3-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core: (82 commits) treewide: Add SPDX license identifier - Kbuild treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 225 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 224 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 223 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 222 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 221 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 220 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 218 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 217 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 216 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 215 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 214 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 213 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 211 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 210 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 209 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 207 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 206 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 203 treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 201 ...

2019-05-23mISDN: make sure device name is NUL terminatedDan Carpenter1-2/+3
The user can change the device_name with the IMSETDEVNAME ioctl, but we need to ensure that the user's name is NUL terminated. Otherwise it could result in a buffer overflow when we copy the name back to the user with IMGETDEVINFO ioctl. I also changed two strcpy() calls which handle the name to strscpy(). Hopefully, there aren't any other ways to create a too long name, but it's nice to do this as a kernel hardening measure. 2019-02-06mISDN: fix a race in dev_expire_timer()Eric Dumazet1-1/+1

As part of y2038 solution, all internal uses of struct timeval are replaced by struct __kernel_old_timeval and struct compat_timeval by struct old_timeval32. Make socket timestamps use these new types. This is mainly to be able to verify that the kernel build is y2038 safe when such non y2038 safe types are not supported anymore. 2018-10-24iov_iter: Separate type from direction and use accessor functionsDavid Howells1-2/+1
In the iov_iter struct, separate the iterator type from the iterator direction and use accessor functions to access them in most places. Convert a bunch of places to use switch-statements to access them rather then chains of bitwise-AND statements. This makes it easier to add further iterator types. Also, this can be more efficient as to implement a switch of small contiguous integers, the compiler can use ~50% fewer compare instructions than it has to use bitwise-and instructions. Further, cease passing the iterator type into the iterator setup function. The iterator function can set that itself. Only the direction is required. The root cause is that the _IOC macro can generate really large numbers, which don't find into type int. My research into how GCC and Clang are handling this at a low level didn't prove fruitful and surveying the kernel tree shows that aside from here and a few places in the scsi subsystem, everything that uses _IOC is at least of type 'unsigned int'. Make that change here because as nothing in this function cares about the signedness of the variable and it removes ambiguity, which is never good when dealing with compilers. While we're here, remove the unnecessary local variable ret (just return -EINVAL and 0 directly). 2018-06-28Revert changes to convert to ->poll_mask() and aio IOCB_CMD_POLLLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because "->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect calls. Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the "->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections. But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental redesign. 2018-06-13treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()Kees Cook1-2/+4
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kzalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kzalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; "int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value it does not need. None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it. This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success, return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated from an error. Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed. rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently not used in any way. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman3-0/+3
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. dependency Instead of including the full <linux/signal.h>, we are going to include the types-only <linux/signal_types.h> header in <linux/sched.h>, to further decouple the scheduler header from the signal headers. This means that various files which relied on the full <linux/signal.h> need to be updated to gain an explicit dependency on it. 2017-02-01isdn: Convert obsolete cputime type to nsecsFrederic Weisbecker1-3/+3
Not sure if MISDN stats are ABI but it displays task cputime in cputime_t raw value regardless of what type cputime_t wraps which could be either jiffies, nsecs, usecs, or whatever random time unit. Plus it wrongly assumes that cputime_t is long. Given that this dump is broken anyway, lets just display the nanosec value and stick with that. 2016-03-20isdn: Use ktime_t instead of 'struct timeval'Tina Ruchandani1-40/+29
'struct timeval' uses 32-bit representation for seconds which will overflow in year 2038 and beyond. mISDN/clock.c needs to compute and store elapsed time in intervals of 125 microseconds. This patch replaces the usage of 'struct timeval' with 64-bit ktime_t which is y2038 safe. The patch also replaces do_gettimeofday() (wall-clock time) with ktime_get() (monotonic time) since we only care about elapsed time here.
