[ Upstream commit a6a87c36165e6791eeaed88025cde270536c3198 ] A lot of modern Clevo barebones have touchpad and/or keyboard issues after suspend fixable with nomux + reset + noloop + nopnp. Luckily, none of them have an external PS/2 port so this can safely be set for all of them. I'm not entirely sure if every device listed really needs all four quirks, but after testing and production use. No negative effects could be observed when setting all four. The list is quite massive as neither the TUXEDO nor the Clevo dmi strings have been very consistent historically. I tried to keep the list as short as possible without risking on missing an affected device. This is revision 3. The Clevo N150CU barebone is still removed as it might have problems with the fix and needs further investigations. The SchenkerTechnologiesGmbH System-/Board-Vendor string variations are added. This is now based in the quirk table refactor. This now also includes the additional noaux flag for the NS7xMU. [ Upstream commit ff946268a0813c35b790dfbe07c3bfaa7bfb869c ] Merge i8042 quirk tables to reduce code duplication for devices that need more than one quirk. Before every quirk had its own table with devices needing that quirk. If a new quirk needed to be added a new table had to be created. When a device needed multiple quirks, it appeared in multiple tables. Now only one table called i8042_dmi_quirk_table exists. In it every device has one entry and required quirks are coded in the .driver_data field of the struct dmi_system_id used by this table. Multiple quirks for one device can be applied by bitwise-or of the new SERIO_QUIRK_* defines. Also align quirkable options with command line parameters and make vendor wide quirks per device overwriteable on a per device basis. The first match is honored while following matches are ignored. So when a vendor wide quirk is defined in the table, a device can inserted before and therefore ignoring the vendor wide define. 2023-01-18Input: elants_i2c - properly handle the reset GPIO when power is offDouglas Anderson1-6/+3
[ Upstream commit a85fbd6498441694475716a4d5c65f9d3e073faf ] As can be seen in elants_i2c_power_off(), we want the reset GPIO asserted when power is off. The reset GPIO is active low so we need the reset line logic low when power is off to avoid leakage. We have a problem, though, at probe time. At probe time we haven't powered the regulators on yet but we have: devm_gpiod_get(&client->dev, "reset", GPIOD_OUT_LOW); While that _looks_ right, it turns out that it's not. The GPIOD_OUT_LOW doesn't mean to init the GPIO to low. It means init the GPIO to "not asserted". Since this is an active low GPIO that inits it to be high. Let's fix this to properly init the GPIO. Now after both probe and power off the state of the GPIO is consistent (it's "asserted" or level low). Once we fix this, we can see that at power on time we no longer to assert the reset GPIO as the first thing. The reset GPIO is _always_ asserted before powering on. Let's fix powering on to account for this. 2022-10-15Input: xpad - fix wireless 360 controller breaking after suspendCameron Gutman1-1/+0
commit a17b9841152e7f4621619902b347e2cc39c32996 upstream. Suspending and resuming the system can sometimes cause the out URB to get hung after a reset_resume. This causes LED setting and force feedback to break on resume. To avoid this, just drop the reset_resume callback so the USB core rebinds xpad to the wireless pads on resume if a reset happened. A nice side effect of this change is the LED ring on wireless controllers is now set correctly on system resume. It seems that the cause is simply that commit c2b27ef672992a20 ("Input: iforce - wait for command completion when closing the device") forgot to call wake_up() after clear_bit(). Fix this problem by introducing a helper that calls clear_bit() followed by wake_up_all(). Let's address this by using pm_runtime_resume_and_get() and then executing pm_runtime_put_sync() only when we fail to send "sense on" command to the device. commit 24ef83f6e31d20fc121a7cd732b04b498475fca3 upstream. The goodix panel sends spurious interrupts after a 'finger up' event, which always cause a timeout. We were exiting the interrupt handler by reporting touch_num == 0, but this was still processed as valid and caused the code to use the uninitialised point_data, creating spurious key release events. Report an error from the interrupt handler so as to avoid processing invalid point_data further. Power Sequence", "T4 Chip Reset and discharge time" is minimum 10ms and "T2 Chip initial time" is maximum 150ms. Adjust the reset timings such that T4 is 12ms and T2 is 160ms to fit those figures. This prevents sporadic touch controller start up failures when some systems with at least ILI251x controller boot, without this patch the systems sometimes fail to communicate with the touch controller. The touchpad present in the Dell Precision 7550 and 7750 laptops reports a HID_DG_BUTTONTYPE of type MT_BUTTONTYPE_CLICKPAD. However, the device is not a clickpad, it is a touchpad with physical buttons. In order to fix this issue, a quirk for the device was introduced in libinput [1] [2] to disable the INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD property: [Precision 7x50 Touchpad] MatchBus=i2c MatchUdevType=touchpad MatchDMIModalias=dmi:*svnDellInc.:pnPrecision7?50* AttrInputPropDisable=INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD However, because of the change introduced in 37ef4c19b4 ("Input: clear BTN_RIGHT/MIDDLE on buttonpads") the BTN_RIGHT key bit is not mapped anymore breaking the device right click button and making impossible to workaround it in user space. In order to avoid breakage on other present or future devices, revert the patch causing the issue. Before these changes elan_suspend() would only disable the regulator when device_may_wakeup() returns false; whereas elan_resume() would unconditionally enable it, leading to an enable count imbalance when device_may_wakeup() returns true. This triggers the "WARN_ON(regulator->enable_count)" in regulator_put() when the elan_i2c driver gets unbound, this happens e.g. with the hot-plugable dock with Elan I2C touchpad for the Asus TF103C 2-in-1. Fix this by making the regulator_enable() call also be conditional on device_may_wakeup() returning false. This behavior has forced userspace applications like libinput to implement different workarounds and quirks to detect buttonpads and offer to the user the right set of features and configuration options. [ Upstream commit 9222ba68c3f4065f6364b99cc641b6b019ef2d42 ] We've got a bug report about the non-working keyboard on ASUS ZenBook UX425UA. It seems that the PS/2 device isn't ready immediately at boot but takes some seconds to get ready. Until now, the only workaround is to defer the probe, but it's available only when the driver is a module. However, many distros, including openSUSE as in the original report, build the PS/2 input drivers into kernel, hence it won't work easily. This patch adds the support for the deferred probe for i8042 stuff as a workaround of the problem above. When the deferred probe mode is enabled and the device couldn't be probed, it'll be repeated with the standard deferred probe mechanism. The deferred probe mode is enabled either via the new option i8042.probe_defer or via the quirk table entry. As of this patch, the quirk table contains only ASUS ZenBook UX425UA. The deferred probe part is based on Fabio's initial work. To make this clearer to the compiler, use the '|=' operator to assign the result of each touchscreen_get_prop_u32() call to data_present, which keeps the meaning of the code the same but makes it obvious that every one of these calls is expected to happen. [ Upstream commit d997cc1715df7b6c3df798881fb9941acf0079f8 ] On i.MX7S and i.MX8M* (but not i.MX6*) the pwrkey device has an associated clock. Accessing the registers requires that this clock is enabled. Binding the driver on at least i.MX7S and i.MX8MP while not having the clock enabled results in a complete hang of the machine. (This usually only happens if snvs_pwrkey is built as a module and the rtc-snvs driver isn't already bound because at bootup the required clk is on and only gets disabled when the clk framework disables unused clks late during boot.) This completes the fix in commit 135be16d3505 ("ARM: dts: imx7s: add snvs clock to pwrkey"). 2021-05-22Input: silead - add workaround for x86 BIOS-es which bring the chip up in a ↵Hans de Goede1-4/+40
stuck state [ Upstream commit e479187748a8f151a85116a7091c599b121fdea5 ] Some buggy BIOS-es bring up the touchscreen-controller in a stuck state where it blocks the I2C bus. Specifically this happens on the Jumper EZpad 7 tablet model. After much poking at this problem I have found that the following steps are necessary to unstuck the chip / bus: 1. Turn off the Silead chip. 2. Try to do an I2C transfer with the chip, this will fail in response to which the I2C-bus-driver will call: i2c_recover_bus() which will unstuck the I2C-bus. Note the unstuck-ing of the I2C bus only works if we first drop the chip of the bus by turning it off. 3. Turn the chip back on. On the x86/ACPI systems were this problem is seen, step 1. and 3. require making ACPI calls and dealing with ACPI Power Resources. This commit adds a workaround which runtime-suspends the chip to turn it off, leaving it up to the ACPI subsystem to deal with all the ACPI specific details. There is no good way to detect this bug, so the workaround gets activated by a new "silead,stuck-controller-bug" boolean device-property. Since this is only used on x86/ACPI, this will be set by model specific device-props set by drivers/platform/x86/touchscreen_dmi.c. Therefor this new device-property is not documented in the DT-bindings. Manually unbinding the elants_i2c driver and binding the i2c-hid driver makes the touchscreen work. Check if the ACPI-fwnode for the touchscreen contains one of the i2c-hid compatiblity-id strings and if it has the I2C-HID spec's DSM to get the HID descriptor address, If it has both then make elants_i2c not bind, so that the i2c-hid driver can bind. This assumes that non of the (older) elan touchscreens which actually need the elants_i2c driver falsely advertise an i2c-hid compatiblity-id + DSM in their ACPI-fwnodes. If some of them actually do have this false advertising, then this change may lead to regressions. While at it also drop the unnecessary DEVICE_NAME prefixing of the "I2C check functionality error", dev_err already outputs the driver-name.
