commit 1035a9e3e9c76b64a860a774f5b867d28d34acc2 upstream.
Writing to fanX_div does not clear the cache. As a result, reading
from fanX_div may return the old value for up to two seconds
after writing a new value.
This patch ensures the fan_div cache is updated in set_fan_div().

commit 25f2bd7f5add608c1d1405938f39c96927b275ca upstream.
The crash reported and investigated in commit 5f4513 turned out to be
caused by a change to the read interface on newer (2012) SMCs.
Tests by Chris show that simply reading the data valid line is enough
for the problem to go away. Additional tests show that the newer SMCs
no longer wait for the number of requested bytes, but start sending
data right away. Apparently the number of bytes to read is no longer
specified as before, but instead found out by reading until end of
data. Failure to read until end of data confuses the state machine,
which eventually causes the crash.
As a remedy, assuming bit0 is the read valid line, make sure there is
nothing more to read before leaving the read function.
Tested to resolve the original problem, and runtested on MBA3,1,
MBP4,1, MBP8,2, MBP10,1, MBP10,2. The patch seems to have no effect on
machines before 2012.

commit 33a7ab91d509fa33b4bcd3ce0038cc80298050da upstream.
The W83L786NG stores the fan speed on 4 bits while the sysfs interface
uses a 0-255 range. Thus the driver should scale the user input down

commit 93d783bcca69bfacc8dc739d8a050498402587b5 upstream.
In adt7470_write_word_data(), which writes two bytes using
i2c_smbus_write_byte_data(), the return codes are incorrectly AND-ed
together when they should be OR-ed together.
The return code of i2c_smbus_write_byte_data() is zero for success.
The upshot is only the first byte was ever written to the hardware.
The 2nd byte was never written out.
I noticed that trying to set the fan speed limits was not working
correctly on my system. Setting the fan speed limits is the only
code that uses adt7470_write_word_data(). After making the change
the limit settings work and the alarms work also.

commit 0602934f302e016e2ea5dc6951681bfac77455ef upstream.
If an LM73 device does not exist on an I2C bus, attempts to communicate
with the device result in an error code returned from the i2c read/write
functions. The current lm73 driver casts that return value from a s32
type to a s16 type, then converts it to a temperature in celsius.
Because negative temperatures are valid, it is difficult to distinguish
between an error code printed to the response buffer and a negative
temperature recorded by the sensor.
The solution is to evaluate the return value from the i2c functions
before performing any temperature calculations. If the i2c function did
not succeed, the error code should be passed back through the virtual
file system layer instead of being printed into the response buffer.

The following build warning is seen in some configurations.
drivers/hwmon/ad7314.c: In function 'ad7314_show_temperature':
drivers/hwmon/ad7314.c:70: warning: 'data' may be used uninitialized in this function
Fix by overloading the return value from ad7314_spi_read with both data and
error code (the returned data is really u16 and needs to be converted into a
signed value anyway).

drivers/hwmon/ads1015.c: In function 'show_in':
drivers/hwmon/ads1015.c:129: warning: 'in' may be used uninitialized in this function

into mV.

Newer BKDG[1] versions recommend a different initialization value for
the running average range register in the northbridge. This improves
the power reading by avoiding counter saturations resulting in bogus
values for anything below about 80% of TDP power consumption.
Updated BIOSes will have this new value set up from the beginning,
but meanwhile we correct this value ourselves.
This needs to be done on all northbridges, even on those where the
driver itself does not register at.
This fixes the driver on all current machines to provide proper
values for idle load.

Some configurations produce the following compiler warning:
drivers/hwmon/pmbus/pmbus_core.c: In function 'pmbus_show_boolean':
drivers/hwmon/pmbus/pmbus_core.c:752: warning: 'val' may be used uninitialized in this function
While this is a false positive, it can easily be fixed by overloading the return
value from pmbus_get_boolean with both val and error return code (val is a
boolean and thus never negative).

drivers/hwmon/smsc47m1.c: In function 'sm_smsc47m1_init':
drivers/hwmon/smsc47m1.c:938: warning: 'address' may be used uninitialized in this function
While this is a false positive, it can easily be fixed by overloading the return
value from smsc47m1_find with both address and error return code (the address
is an unsigned short and thus never negative). This also reduces module size by
a few bytes (46 bytes for x86_64).

In some configurations, BUG() does not result in an endless loop but returns
to the caller. This results in the following compiler warning:
drivers/hwmon/acpi_power_meter.c: In function 'show_str':

This driver was recently moved from IIO (where it worked) to hwmon (where
it doesn't.) This breakage occured because the hwmon version neglected to
correctly initialize a reference to spi_dev in its drvdata. The result is a
segfault every time the temperature is queried.

The on-chip northbridge's temperature sensor of the upcoming
AMD Trinity CPUs works the same as for the previous CPUs.
Since it has a different PCI-ID, we just add the new one to the list
supported by k10temp.
This allows to use the k10temp driver on those CPUs.

As long as there is no other non-const variable marked __initdata in the
same compilation unit it doesn't hurt. If there were one however
compilation would fail with
error: $variablename causes a section type conflict
because a section containing const variables is marked read only and so
cannot contain non-const variables.
