commit 491adc6a0f9903c32b05f284df1148de39e8e644 upstream. It is possible for a BO to exist that is not currently associated with a resource, e.g. because it has been evicted. When devcoredump tries to read the contents of all BOs for dumping, we need to expect this as well -- in this case, ENODATA is recorded instead of the buffer contents. 2025-08-28drm/ttm: Respect the shrinker core free targetTvrtko Ursulin1-3/+5
[ Upstream commit eac21f8ebeb4f84d703cf41dc3f81d16fa9dc00a ] Currently the TTM shrinker aborts shrinking as soon as it frees pages from any of the page order pools and by doing so it can fail to respect the freeing target which was configured by the shrinker core. We use the wording "can fail" because the number of freed pages will depend on the presence of pages in the pools and the order of the pools on the LRU list. For example if there are no free pages in the high order pools the shrinker core may require multiple passes over the TTM shrinker before it will free the default target of 128 pages (assuming there are free pages in the low order pools). This inefficiency can be compounded by the pool LRU where multiple further calls into the TTM shrinker are required to end up looking at the pool with pages. Improve this by never freeing less than the shrinker core has requested. At the same time we start reporting the number of scanned pages (freed in this case), which prevents the core shrinker from giving up on the TTM shrinker too soon and moving on. v2: * Simplify loop logic. 2024-12-14drm/ttm: Make sure the mapped tt pages are decrypted when neededZack Rusin2-2/+23
commit 71ce046327cfd3aef3f93d1c44e091395eb03f8f upstream. Some drivers require the mapped tt pages to be decrypted. In an ideal world this would have been handled by the dma layer, but the TTM page fault handling would have to be rewritten to able to do that. A side-effect of the TTM page fault handling is using a dma allocation per order (via ttm_pool_alloc_page) which makes it impossible to just trivially use dma_mmap_attrs. As a result ttm has to be very careful about trying to make its pgprot for the mapped tt pages match what the dma layer thinks it is. At the ttm layer it's possible to deduce the requirement to have tt pages decrypted by checking whether coherent dma allocations have been requested and the system is running with confidential computing technologies. This approach isn't ideal but keeping TTM matching DMAs expectations for the page properties is in general fragile, unfortunately proper fix would require a rewrite of TTM's page fault handling. Remove the device from the device list and drain its workqueue before releasing the system domain manager in ttm_device_fini(). The locking rules here are a bit unclear but it looks currently like res->bo assignment is protected by the LRU lock, whereas bo->resource is protected by the object lock, while *clearing* of bo->resource is also protected by the LRU lock. This means that if we check that bo->resource points to the LRU resource under the LRU lock we should be safe. So perform that check before deciding to swap out a bo. That avoids dereferencing a NULL bo->resource in ttm_bo_swapout(). 2022-07-04mm: shrinkers: provide shrinkers with namesRoman Gushchin1-1/+1
Currently shrinkers are anonymous objects. For debugging purposes they can be identified by count/scan function names, but it's not always useful: e.g. for superblock's shrinkers it's nice to have at least an idea of to which superblock the shrinker belongs. This commit adds names to shrinkers. register_shrinker() and prealloc_shrinker() functions are extended to take a format and arguments to master a name. In some cases it's not possible to determine a good name at the time when a shrinker is allocated. For such cases shrinker_debugfs_rename() is provided. The expected format is: <subsystem>-<shrinker_type>[:<instance>]-<id> For some shrinkers an instance can be encoded as (MAJOR:MINOR) pair.
