2019-08-25drm: msm: Fix add_gpu_componentsJeffrey Hugo1-1/+2
[ Upstream commit 9ca7ad6c7706edeae331c1632d0c63897418ebad ] add_gpu_components() adds found GPU nodes from the DT to the match list, regardless of the status of the nodes. This is a problem, because if the nodes are disabled, they should not be on the match list because they will not be matched. This prevents display from initing if a GPU node is defined, but it's status is disabled. Fix this by checking the node's status before adding it to the match list. 2019-07-31drm/msm: Depopulate platform on probe failureSean Paul1-3/+11
[ Upstream commit 4368a1539c6b41ac3cddc06f5a5117952998804c ] add_display_components() calls of_platform_populate, and we depopluate on pdev remove, but not when probe fails. So if we get a probe deferral in one of the components, we won't depopulate the platform. This causes the core to keep references to devices which should be destroyed, which causes issues when those same devices try to re-initialize on the next probe attempt. I think this is the reason we had issues with the gmu's device-managed resources on deferral (worked around in commit 94e3a17f33a5). 2019-03-05drm/msm: Fix A6XX support for opp-levelDouglas Anderson1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit a3c5e2cd79753121f49a8662c1e0a60ddb5486ca ] The bindings for Qualcomm opp levels changed after being Acked but before landing. Thus the code in the GPU driver that was relying on the old bindings is now broken. Let's change the code to match the new bindings by adjusting the old string 'qcom,level' to the new string 'opp-level'. See the patch ("dt-bindings: opp: Introduce opp-level bindings"). NOTE: we will do additional cleanup to totally remove the string from the code and use the new dev_pm_opp_get_level() but we'll do it in a future patch. This will facilitate getting the important code fix in sooner without having to deal with cross-maintainer dependencies. This patch needs to land before the patch ("arm64: dts: sdm845: Add gpu and gmu device nodes") since if a tree contains the device tree patch but not this one you'll get a crash at bootup. 2019-02-12drm/msm: dpu: Only check flush register against pending flushesSean Paul1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 5f79e03b1f7c1b2cf0019ce6365fe5d52629813d ] There exists a case where a flush of a plane/dma may have been triggered & started from an async commit. If that plane/dma is subsequently disabled by the next commit, the flush register will continue to hold the flush bit for the disabled plane. Since the bit remains active, pending_kickoff_cnt will never decrement and we'll miss frame_done events. This patch limits the check of flush_register to include only those bits which have been updated with the latest commit. 2018-12-21drm/msm/hdmi: Enable HPD after HDMI IRQ is set upTodor Tomov3-8/+9
[ Upstream commit ee4456359640defe3f51cc6b728bfce4bc444c9e ] SoCs that contain MDP5 have a top level wrapper called MDSS that manages locks, power and irq for the sub-blocks within it. Irq for HDMI is also routed through the MDSS. Shortly after the Hot Plug Detection (HPD) is enabled in HDMI, HDMI interrupts are recieved by the MDSS interrupt handler. However at this moment the HDMI irq is still not mapped to the MDSS irq domain so the HDMI irq handler cannot be called to process the interrupts. This leads to a flood of HDMI interrupts on CPU 0. If we are lucky to have the HDMI initialization running on a different CPU, it will eventually map the HDMI irq to MDSS irq domain, the next HDMI interrupt will be handled by the HDMI irq handler, the interrupt flood will stop and we will recover. If the HDMI initialization is running on CPU 0, then it cannot complete and there is nothing to stop the interrupt flood on CPU 0. The system is stuck. Fix this by moving the HPD enablement after the HDMI irq is mapped to the MDSS irq domain. 2018-12-21drm/msm: Fix task dump in gpu recoverySharat Masetty1-5/+4
[ Upstream commit 482f96324a4e08818db7d75bb12beaaea6c9561d ] The current recovery code gets a pointer to the task struct and does a few things all within the rcu_read_lock. This puts constraints on the types of gfp flags that can be used within the rcu lock. This patch instead gets a reference to the task within the rcu lock and releases the lock immediately, this way the task stays afloat until we need it and we also get to use the desired gfp flags. 2018-11-21drm/msm: fix OF child-node lookupJohan Hovold1-2/+3

Use the new of_get_compatible_child() helper to lookup the legacy pwrlevels child node instead of using of_find_compatible_node(), which searches the entire tree from a given start node and thus can return an unrelated (i.e. non-child) node. This also addresses a potential use-after-free (e.g. after probe deferral) as the tree-wide helper drops a reference to its first argument (i.e. the probed device's node). While at it, also fix the related child-node reference leak. 2018-11-21drm/msm: dpu: Allow planes to extend past active displaySean Paul4-16/+24
[ Upstream commit 96fc56a775c1e44c0e3c0119f2cd3d77431c4569 ] The atomic_check is a bit too aggressive with respect to planes which leave the active area. This caused a bunch of log spew when the cursor got to the edge of the screen and stopped it from going all the way. This patch removes the conservative bounds checks from atomic and clips the dst rect such that we properly display planes which go off the screen. That corresponds to the integer 16. That is then indexed into drm_encoder_enum_list in drm_encoder_init() to look up the name of the encoder. If you're still following along, that's an encoder not a connector! We really want to use DRM_MODE_ENCODER_DSI (integer 6) instead of DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_DSI here, or we'll go out of bounds of the encoder array. Pass the right thing and everything is fine. Add support for the A6XX family of Adreno GPUs. The biggest addition is the GMU (Graphics Management Unit) which takes over most of the power management of the GPU itself but in a ironic twist of fate needs a goodly amount of management itself. Add support for the A6XX core code, the GMU and the HFI (hardware firmware interface) queue that the CPU uses to communicate with the GMU. Failure to load firmware is the primary reason to fail adreno_load_gpu(). Try to load it first before going into the hardware initialization code and unwinding it. This is important for a6xx because the GMU gets loaded from the runtime power code and it is more costly to fail in that path because of missing firmware. Use new return type vm_fault_t for fault handler. For now, this is just documenting that the function returns a VM_FAULT value rather than an errno. Once all instances are converted, vm_fault_t will become a distinct type. Ref- commit 1c8f422059ae ("mm: change return type to vm_fault_t") Previously vm_insert_mixed() returns err which driver mapped into VM_FAULT_* type. The new function vmf_insert_mixed() will replace this inefficiency by returning VM_FAULT_* type. vmf_error() is the newly introduce inline function in 4.17-rc6. All users of do_gettimeofday() have been removed, but this one recently crept in, along with an incorrect printing of the microseconds portion. This converts it to using ktime_get_real_timespec64() as a direct replacement, and adds the leading zeroes. I considered using monotonic times (ktime_get()) instead, but as this timestamp appears to only be used for humans rather than compared with other timestamps, the real time domain is probably good enough. HLSQ, SP and TP registers are only accessible from a special aperture and to make matters worse the aperture is blocked from the CPU on targets that can support secure rendering. Luckily the GPU hardware has its own purpose built register dumper that can access the registers from the aperture. Add a5xx specific code to program the crashdumper and retrieve the wayward registers and dump them for the crash state. Also, remove a block of registers the regular CPU accessible list that aren't useful for debug which helps reduce the size of the crash state file by a goodly amount.
