2026-01-11drm/mediatek: Fix device node reference leak in mtk_dp_dt_parse()Miaoqian Lin1-0/+1
commit a846505a193d7492ad3531e33cacfca31e4bcdd1 upstream. The function mtk_dp_dt_parse() calls of_graph_get_endpoint_by_regs() to get the endpoint device node, but fails to call of_node_put() to release the reference when the function returns. This results in a device node reference leak. Fix this by adding the missing of_node_put() call before returning from the function. Found via static analysis and code review. [ Upstream commit 8c9da7cd0bbcc90ab444454fecf535320456a312 ] In preparation for adding support for newer DPI instances which do support direct-pin but do not have any H_FRE_CON register, like the one found in MT8195 and MT8188, add a branch to check if the reg_h_fre_con variable was declared in the mtk_dpi_conf structure for the probed SoC DPI version. As a note, this is useful specifically only for cases in which the support_direct_pin variable is true, so mt8195-dpintf is not affected by any issue. 2025-04-25drm/mediatek: mtk_dpi: Explicitly manage TVD clock in power on/offAngeloGioacchino Del Regno1-0/+9
[ Upstream commit 473c33f5ce651365468503c76f33158aaa1c7dd2 ] In preparation for adding support for MT8195's HDMI reserved DPI, add calls to clk_prepare_enable() / clk_disable_unprepare() for the TVD clock: in this particular case, the aforementioned clock is not (and cannot be) parented to neither pixel or engine clocks hence it won't get enabled automatically by the clock framework. Please note that on all of the currently supported MediaTek platforms, the TVD clock is always a parent of either pixel or engine clocks, and this means that the common clock framework is already enabling this clock before the children. On such platforms, this commit will only increase the refcount of the TVD clock without any functional change. [ Upstream commit dcb166ee43c3d594e7b73a24f6e8cf5663eeff2c ] There is a type bug because the return statement: return ret < 0 ? ret : recv_cnt; The issue is that ret is an int, recv_cnt is a u32 and the function returns ssize_t, which is a signed long. The way that the type promotion works is that the negative error codes are first cast to u32 and then to signed long. The error codes end up being positive instead of negative and the callers treat them as success. [ Upstream commit 0be123cafc06eed0fd1227166a66e786434b0c50 ] The probe function of this driver may fail after registering the audio platform device: in that case, the state is not getting cleaned up, leaving this device registered. If the current timing mode uses RGB and meets the DP link bandwidth requirements, RGB will be used. If the timing mode uses RGB but does not meet the DP link bandwidthi requirements, it will continue to check whether YUV422 meets the DP link bandwidth. FEC overhead is approximately 2.4% from DP 1.4a spec 2.2.1.4.2. The down-spread amplitude shall either be disabled (0.0%) or up to 0.5% from 1.4a 3.5.2.6. Add up to approximately 3% total overhead. 2024-10-17drm/mediatek: Fix missing configuration flags in mtk_crtc_ddp_config()Jason-JH.Lin1-0/+27
[ Upstream commit fe30bae552ce27b9fefe0b12db1544e73d07325f ] In mtk_crtc_ddp_config(), mtk_crtc will use some configuration flags to generate instructions to cmdq_handle, such as: state->pending_config mtk_crtc->pending_planes plane_state->pending.config mtk_crtc->pending_async_planes plane_state->pending.async_config These configuration flags may be set to false when a GCE IRQ comes calling ddp_cmdq_cb(). This may result in missing prepare instructions, especially if mtk_crtc_update_config() with the flase need_vblank (no need to wait for vblank) cases. Therefore, the mtk_crtc->config_updating flag is set at the beginning of mtk_crtc_update_config() to ensure that these configuration flags won't be changed when the mtk_crtc_ddp_config() is preparing instructions. But somehow the ddp_cmdq_cb() didn't use the mtk_crtc->config_updating flag to prevent those pending config flags from being cleared. To avoid missing the configuration when generating the config instruction, the config_updating flag should be added into ddp_cmdq_cb() and be protected with spin_lock. [ Upstream commit caf2ae486742f6a93ca676bbebdfacfd34e4966d ] For the eDP case we can support using aux-bus on MediaTek DP: this gives us the possibility to declare our panel as generic "panel-edp" which will automatically configure the timings and available modes via the EDID that we read from it. To do this, move the panel parsing at the end of the probe function so that the hardware is initialized beforehand and also initialize the DPTX AUX block and power both on as, when we populate the aux-bus, the panel driver will trigger an EDID read to perform panel detection. Last but not least, since now the AUX transfers can happen in the separated aux-bus, it was necessary to add an exclusion for the cable_plugged_in check in `mtk_dp_aux_transfer()` and the easiest way to do this is to simply ignore checking that when the bridge type is eDP. 2024-03-27drm/mediatek: dsi: Fix DSI RGB666 formats and definitionsAngeloGioacchino Del Regno1-5/+5
[ Upstream commit fae6f815505301b92d9113764f4d76d0bfe45607 ] The register bits definitions for RGB666 formats are wrong in multiple ways: first, in the DSI_PS_SEL bits region, the Packed 18-bits RGB666 format is selected with bit 1, while the Loosely Packed one is bit 2, and second - the definition name "LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666" is wrong because the loosely packed format is 24 bits instead! Either way, functions mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() and mtk_dsi_ps_control() do not even agree on the DSI_PS_SEL bit to set in DSI_PSCTRL: one sets loosely packed (24) on RGB666, the other sets packed (18), and the other way around for RGB666_PACKED. Fixing this entire stack of issues is done in one go: - Use the correct bit for the Loosely Packed RGB666 definition - Rename LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666 to LOOSELY_PS_24BIT_RGB666 - Change ps_bpp_mode in mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() to set: - Loosely Packed, 24-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666 - Packed, 18-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666_PACKED Fixes: 2e54c14e310f ("drm/mediatek: Add DSI sub driver") Reviewed-by: Alexandre Mergnat <amergnat@baylibre.com> Reviewed-by: CK Hu <ck.hu@mediatek.com> Signed-off-by: AngeloGioacchino Del Regno <angelogioacchino.delregno@collabora.com> Link: https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/dri-devel/patch/20240215085316.56835-3-angelogioacchino.delregno@collabora.com/ Signed-off-by: Chun-Kuang Hu <chunkuang.hu@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

Add the phy_mtk_dp module as a pre-dependency to the mtk_dp module to ensure the phy module has been loaded before the dp, so that the phy probe happens synchrounously and the mtk_dp driver can probe successfully even with the phy driver built as a module. 2023-11-20drm: mediatek: mtk_dsi: Fix NO_EOT_PACKET settings/handlingAngeloGioacchino Del Regno1-2/+2
[ Upstream commit 5855d422a6f250f3518f43b49092c8e87a5e42be ] Due to the initial confusion about MIPI_DSI_MODE_EOT_PACKET, properly renamed to MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET, reflecting its actual meaning, both the DSI_TXRX_CON register setting for bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT and the later calculation for horizontal sync-active (HSA), back (HBP) and front (HFP) porches got incorrect due to the logic being inverted. This means that a number of settings were wrong because....: - DSI_TXRX_CON register setting: bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT should be set in order to disable the End of Transmission packet; - Horizontal Sync and Back/Front porches: The delta used to calculate all of HSA, HBP and HFP should account for the additional EOT packet. Before this change... - Bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT was being set when EOT packet was enabled; - For HSA/HBP/HFP delta... all three were wrong, as words were added when EOT disabled, instead of when EOT packet enabled! Invert the logic around flag MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET in the MediaTek DSI driver to fix the aforementioned issues. 2023-11-20drm/mediatek: Fix iommu fault during crtc enablingJason-JH.Lin1-0/+3
[ Upstream commit 53412dc2905401207f264dc30890f6b9e41524a6 ] The difference between drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail() and drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm() is drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail() will commit plane first and then enable crtc, drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm() will enable crtc first and then commit plane. Before mediatek-drm enables crtc, the power and clk required by OVL have not been turned on, so the commit plane cannot be committed before crtc is enabled. That means OVL layer should not be enabled before crtc is enabled. Therefore, the atomic_commit_tail of mediatek-drm is hooked with drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail_rpm(). Another reason is that the plane_state of drm_atomic_state is not synchronized with the plane_state stored in mtk_crtc during crtc enablng, so just set all planes to disabled. 2023-10-25drm/mediatek: Correctly free sg_table in gem prime vmapChen-Yu Tsai1-1/+5
commit dcc583c225e659d5da34b4ad83914fd6b51e3dbf upstream. The MediaTek DRM driver implements GEM PRIME vmap by fetching the sg_table for the object, iterating through the pages, and then vmapping them. In essence, unlike the GEM DMA helpers which vmap when the object is first created or imported, the MediaTek version does it on request. Unfortunately, the code never correctly frees the sg_table contents. This results in a kernel memory leak. On a Hayato device with a text console on the internal display, this results in the system running out of memory in a few days from all the console screen cursor updates. Add sg_free_table() to correctly free the contents of the sg_table. This was missing despite explicitly required by mtk_gem_prime_get_sg_table(). Also move the "out" shortcut label to after the kfree() call for the sg_table. Having sg_free_table() together with kfree() makes more sense. The shortcut is only used when the object already has a kernel address, in which case the pointer is NULL and kfree() does nothing. Hence this change causes no functional change. 2023-03-10drm/mediatek: dsi: Reduce the time of dsi from LP11 to sending cmdXinlei Lee1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 91aeaed2c1147e3b1157dc084d23f190856a6c23 ] According to Figure 16 Turnaround Procedure on page 36 in [1], you can see the status of LP-00 -> LP10 -> LP11. This state can correspond to the state of DSI from LP00 -> LP11 in mtk_dsi_lane_ready function in mtk_dsi.c. LP-00 -> LP10 -> LP11 takes about 2*TLPX time (refer to [1] page 51 to see that TLPX is 50ns) The delay at the end of the mtk_dsi_lane_ready function should be greater than the 2*TLPX specified by the DSI spec, and less than the time specified by the DSI_RX (generally 6ms to 40ms), to avoid problems caused by the RX specification [1]:mipi_D-PHY_specification_v1-1 Fixes: 39e8d062b03c ("drm/mediatek: Keep dsi as LP00 before dcs cmds transfer") Signed-off-by: Xinlei Lee <xinlei.lee@mediatek.com> Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Reviewed-by: AngeloGioacchino Del Regno <angelogioacchino.delregno@collabora.com> Link: https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-mediatek/patch/1673330093-6771-2-git-send-email-xinlei.lee@mediatek.com/ Signed-off-by: Chun-Kuang Hu <chunkuang.hu@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>
2022-12-31drm/mediatek: Fix return type of mtk_hdmi_bridge_mode_valid()Nathan Chancellor1-3/+4
[ Upstream commit 890d637523eec9d730e3885532fa1228ba678880 ] With clang's kernel control flow integrity (kCFI, CONFIG_CFI_CLANG), indirect call targets are validated against the expected function pointer prototype to make sure the call target is valid to help mitigate ROP attacks. If they are not identical, there is a failure at run time, which manifests as either a kernel panic or thread getting killed. A proposed warning in clang aims to catch these at compile time, which reveals: drivers/gpu/drm/mediatek/mtk_hdmi.c:1407:16: error: incompatible function pointer types initializing 'enum drm_mode_status (*)(struct drm_bridge *, const struct drm_display_info *, const struct drm_display_mode *)' with an expression of type 'int (struct drm_bridge *, const struct drm_display_info *, const struct drm_display_mode *)' [-Werror,-Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict] .mode_valid = mtk_hdmi_bridge_mode_valid, ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 error generated. ->mode_valid() in 'struct drm_bridge_funcs' expects a return type of 'enum drm_mode_status', not 'int'. Adjust the return type of mtk_hdmi_bridge_mode_valid() to match the prototype's to resolve the warning and CFI failure. 2022-09-22drm/mediatek: dsi: Move mtk_dsi_stop() call back to mtk_dsi_poweroff()Nícolas F. R. A. Prado1-11/+10
As the comment right before the mtk_dsi_stop() call advises, mtk_dsi_stop() should only be called after mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(). That's because that function calls drm_crtc_wait_one_vblank(), which requires the vblank irq to be enabled. Previously mtk_dsi_stop(), being in mtk_dsi_poweroff() and guarded by a refcount, would only be called at the end of mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(), through the call to mtk_crtc_ddp_hw_fini(). Commit cde7e2e35c28 ("drm/mediatek: Separate poweron/poweroff from enable/disable and define new funcs") moved the mtk_dsi_stop() call to mtk_output_dsi_disable(), causing it to be called before mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(), and consequently generating vblank timeout warnings during suspend. Move the mtk_dsi_stop() call back to mtk_dsi_poweroff() so that we have a working vblank irq during mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable() and stop getting vblank timeout warnings.
