2019-03-18drm: Use new DRM_BUS_FLAG_*_(DRIVE|SAMPLE)_(POS|NEG)EDGE flagsLaurent Pinchart1-1/+1
The DRM_BUS_FLAG_PIXDATA_(POS|NEG)EDGE and DRM_BUS_FLAG_SYNC_(POS|NEG)EDGE flags are deprecated in favour of the new DRM_BUS_FLAG_PIXDATA_(DRIVE|SAMPLE)_(POS|NEG)EDGE and new DRM_BUS_FLAG_SYNC_(DRIVE|SAMPLE)_(POS|NEG)EDGE flags. Replace them through the code. This effectively changes the value of the .sampling_edge bridge timings field in the dumb-vga-dac driver. This is safe to do as no driver consumes these values yet. into drm-next drm/imx: handle pending updates better, add plane zpos property support - Add a mechanism to only send commit done events once all pending updates have been applied. This closes a small race window where already armed events could fire even though the double buffered hardware update just missed the update window. - Add plane zpos property support to allow placing the overlay plane behind the primary plane. - Allow building imx-drm on all platforms under COMPILE_TEST. 2019-02-22drm/imx: only send commit done event when all state has been appliedLucas Stach1-2/+28
Currently there is a small race window where we could manage to arm the vblank event from atomic flush, but programming the hardware was too close to the frame end, so the hardware will only apply the current state on the next vblank. In this case we will send out the commit done event too early causing userspace to reuse framebuffes that are still in use. Instead of using the event arming mechnism, just remember the pending event and send it from the vblank IRQ handler, once we are sure that all state has been applied successfully. 2019-02-22drm/imx: ipuv3-plane: add zpos propertyPhilipp Zabel2-30/+33
Add a zpos property to planes. Call drm_atomic_helper_check() instead of calling drm_atomic_helper_check_modeset() and drm_atomic_check_planes() manually. This effectively adds a call to drm_atomic_normalize_zpos() before checking planes. Reorder atomic update to allow changing plane zpos without modeset. Note that the initial zpos is set in ipu_plane_state_reset(). The initial value set in ipu_plane_init() is just for show. The zpos parameter of drm_plane_create_zpos_property() is ignored because the newly created plane do not have state yet. 2019-01-24drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.hDaniel Vetter6-13/+13
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I expect. v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs. v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits: - (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged). - sort alphabetically v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I touch. v6: Rebase onto i915 changes. v7: Rebase once more. 2019-01-17drm/imx: imx-ldb: add missing of_node_putsJulia Lawall1-8/+17
The device node iterators perform an of_node_get on each iteration, so a jump out of the loop requires an of_node_put. Move the initialization channel->child = child; down to just before the call to imx_ldb_register so that intervening failures don't need to clear it. Add a label at the end of the function to do all the of_node_puts. The semantic patch that finds part of this problem is as follows (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr): // <smpl> @@ expression root,e; local idexpression child; iterator name for_each_child_of_node; @@ for_each_child_of_node(root, child) { ... when != of_node_put(child) when != e = child ( return child; | * return ...; ) ... } // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Philipp Zabel <p.zabel@pengutronix.de>

2018-09-25drm/imx: Use drm_fbdev_generic_setup()Noralf Trønnes1-15/+4
The CMA helper is already using the drm_fb_helper_generic_probe part of the generic fbdev emulation. This patch makes full use of the generic fbdev emulation by using its drm_client callbacks. This means that drm_mode_config_funcs->output_poll_changed and drm_driver->lastclose are now handled by the emulation code. Additionally fbdev unregister happens automatically on drm_dev_unregister(). The drm_fbdev_generic_setup() call is put after drm_dev_register() in the driver. This is done to highlight the fact that fbdev emulation is an internal client that makes use of the driver, it is not part of the driver as such. If fbdev setup fails, an error is printed, but the driver succeeds probing. CONFIG_DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION wasn't honoured by the CMA helper, but it is by drm_fb_helper. 2018-07-16drm/imx: imx-ldb: disable LDB on driver bindLucas Stach1-0/+3
The LVDS signal integrity is only guaranteed when the correct enable sequence (first IPU DI, then LDB) is used. If the LDB display output was active before the imx-drm driver is loaded (like when a bootsplash was active) the DI will be disabled by the full IPU reset we do when loading the driver. The LDB control registers are not part of the IPU range and thus will remain unchanged. This leads to the LDB still being active when the DI is getting enabled, effectively reversing the required enable sequence. Fix this by also disabling the LDB on driver bind. 2018-02-16drm/bridge/synopsys: dw-hdmi: don't clobber drvdataJernej Skrabec1-3/+10
dw_hdmi shouldn't set drvdata since some drivers might need to store it's own data there. Rework dw_hdmi in a way to return struct dw_hdmi instead to store it in drvdata. This way drivers are responsible to store and pass structure when needed. Idea was taken from the following commit: 8242ecbd597d ("drm/bridge/synopsys: stop clobbering drvdata") Cc: p.zabel@pengutronix.de Cc: Laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com Cc: hjc@rock-chips.com Acked-by: Heiko Stuebner <heiko@sntech.de> Acked-by: Neil Armstrong <narmstrong@baylibre.com> Reviewed-by: Archit Taneja <architt@codeaurora.org> Tested-by: Heiko Stuebner <heiko@sntech.de> Signed-off-by: Jernej Skrabec <jernej.skrabec@siol.net> Signed-off-by: Maxime Ripard <maxime.ripard@bootlin.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20180214200906.31509-6-jernej.skrabec@siol.net
2018-01-23drm/imx: Use drm_mode_get_hv_timing() to populate plane clip rectangleVille Syrjälä1-5/+5
Use drm_mode_get_hv_timing() to fill out the plane clip rectangle. Note that this replaces crtc_state->adjusted_mode usage with crtc_state->mode. The latter is the correct choice since that's the mode the user provided and it matches the plane crtc coordinates the user also provided. Once everyone agrees on this we can move the clip handling into drm_atomic_helper_check_plane_state(). Use drm_fb_cma_fbdev_init() and drm_fb_cma_fbdev_fini() which relies on the fact that drm_device holds a pointer to the drm_fb_helper structure. This means that the driver doesn't have to keep track of that. Also use the drm_fb_helper functions directly. 2017-11-30drm/imx: always call wait_for_flip_done in commit_tailLucas Stach1-2/+9
drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_vblanks will go away in the future. The new drm_atomic_helper_setup_commit in 4.15 expects that blocking commits have completed flipping before the commit_tail returns. This must be ensured by calling wait_for_vblanks or wait_for_flip_done, where flip_done might do a less agressive wait, which is fine for imx-drm.
