2022-08-04drm/imx/dcss: get rid of HPD warning messageLaurentiu Palcu1-2/+0
When DCSS + MIPI_DSI is used, and the last bridge in the chain supports HPD, we can see a "Hot plug detection already enabled" warning stack trace dump that's thrown when DCSS is initialized. The problem appeared when HPD was enabled by default in the bridge_connector initialization, which made the drm_bridge_connector_enable_hpd() call, in DCSS init path, redundant. So, let's remove that call. The imx KMS driver will call drm_plane_create_color_properties() with a default encoding and range values of BT601 and Limited Range, respectively. Since the initial value wasn't carried over in the state, the driver had to set it again in ipu_plane_state_reset(). However, the helpers have been adjusted to set it properly at reset, so this is not needed anymore. imx_pd_bridge_atomic_check() If display timings were read from the devicetree using of_get_display_timing() and pixelclk-active is defined there, the flag DISPLAY_FLAGS_SYNC_POSEDGE/NEGEDGE is automatically generated. Through the function drm_bus_flags_from_videomode() e.g. called in the panel-simple driver this flag got into the bus flags, but then in imx_pd_bridge_atomic_check() the bus flag check failed and will not initialize the display. The original commit fe141cedc433 does not explain why this check was introduced. So remove the bus flags check, because it stops the initialization of the display with valid bus flags. According to disable Documentation/admin-guide/kernel-parameters.txt, this parameter can be used to disable kernel modesetting. DRM drivers will not perform display-mode changes or accelerated rendering and only the system framebuffer will be available if it was set-up. But only a few DRM drivers currently check for nomodeset, make this driver to also support the command line parameter. 2021-05-10drm/imx: ipuv3-plane: fix PRG modifiers after drm managed resource conversionLucas Stach1-7/+9
The conversion to drm managed resources introduced two bugs: the plane is now always initialized with the linear-only list, while the list with the Vivante GPU modifiers should have been used when the PRG/PRE engines are present. This masked another issue, as ipu_plane_format_mod_supported() is now called before the private plane data is set up, so if a non-linear modifier is supplied in the plane modifier list, we run into a NULL pointer dereference checking for the PRG presence. To fix this just remove the check from this function, as we know that it will only be called with a non-linear modifier, if the plane init code has already determined that the PRG/PRE is present. The ipu_plane_disable_deferred() and ipu_planes_assign_pre() functions have not been used by any other modules but only imxdrm itself internally since imxdrm and imx-ipuv3-crtc were merged in one module. So, this patch removes export symbols for the two functions. 2021-05-10drm/imx: Add 8 pixel alignment fixSebastian Reichel4-6/+48
Some standard resolutions like 1366x768 do not work properly with i.MX6 SoCs, since the horizontal resolution needs to be aligned to 8 pixels (so 1360x768 or 1368x768 would work). This patch allocates framebuffers allocated to 8 pixels. The extra time required to send the extra pixels are removed from the blank time. In order to expose the correct display size to userspace, the stride is increased without increasing the width. Without this patch systems with this display resolution hang indefinitely during boot up. When CONFIG_OF is disabled, building with 'make W=1' produces warnings about out of bounds array access: drivers/gpu/drm/imx/imx-ldb.c: In function 'imx_ldb_set_clock.constprop': drivers/gpu/drm/imx/imx-ldb.c:186:8: error: array subscript -22 is below array bounds of 'struct clk *[4]' [-Werror=array-bounds] Add an error check before the index is used, which helps with the warning, as well as any possible other error condition that may be triggered at runtime. The warning could be fixed by adding a Kconfig depedency on CONFIG_OF, but Liu Ying points out that the driver may hit the out-of-bounds problem at runtime anyway.
