2023-05-30drm/amd: Fix an out of bounds error in BIOS parserMario Limonciello1-5/+2
[ Upstream commit d116db180decec1b21bba31d2ff495ac4d8e1b83 ] The array is hardcoded to 8 in atomfirmware.h, but firmware provides a bigger one sometimes. Deferencing the larger array causes an out of bounds error. commit 4fc1ba4aa589 ("drm/amd/display: fix array index out of bound error in bios parser") fixed some of this, but there are two other cases not covered by it. Fix those as well. 2023-05-30drm/amd/display: Use DC_LOG_DC in the trasform pixel functionRodrigo Siqueira1-3/+2
[ Upstream commit 7222f5841ff49709ca666b05ff336776e0664a20 ] [Why & How] DC now uses a new commit sequence which is more robust since it addresses cases where we need to reorganize pipes based on planes and other parameters. As a result, this new commit sequence reset the DC state by cleaning plane states and re-creating them accordingly with the need. For this reason, the dce_transform_set_pixel_storage_depth can be invoked after a plane state is destroyed and before its re-creation. In this situation and on DCE devices, DC will hit a condition that will trigger a dmesg log that looks like this: Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x67 ------------[ cut here ]------------ [..] Hardware name: System manufacturer System Product Name/PRIME X370-PRO, BIOS 5603 07/28/2020 RIP: 0010:dce_transform_set_pixel_storage_depth+0x3f8/0x480 [amdgpu] [..] RSP: 0018:ffffc9000202b850 EFLAGS: 00010293 RAX: ffffffffa081d100 RBX: ffff888110790000 RCX: 000000000000000c RDX: ffff888100bedbf8 RSI: 0000000000001a50 RDI: ffff88810463c900 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000007 R10: 0000000000000001 R11: 0000000000000f00 R12: ffff88810f500010 R13: ffff888100bedbf8 R14: ffff88810f515688 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007ff0159249c0(0000) GS:ffff88840e940000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00007ff01528e550 CR3: 0000000002a10000 CR4: 00000000003506e0 Call Trace: <TASK> ? dm_write_reg_func+0x21/0x80 [amdgpu 340dadd3f7c8cf4be11cf0bdc850245e99abe0e8] dc_stream_set_dither_option+0xfb/0x130 [amdgpu 340dadd3f7c8cf4be11cf0bdc850245e99abe0e8] amdgpu_dm_crtc_configure_crc_source+0x10b/0x190 [amdgpu 340dadd3f7c8cf4be11cf0bdc850245e99abe0e8] amdgpu_dm_atomic_commit_tail+0x20a8/0x2a90 [amdgpu 340dadd3f7c8cf4be11cf0bdc850245e99abe0e8] ? free_unref_page_commit+0x98/0x170 ? free_unref_page+0xcc/0x150 commit_tail+0x94/0x120 drm_atomic_helper_commit+0x10f/0x140 drm_atomic_commit+0x94/0xc0 ? drm_plane_get_damage_clips.cold+0x1c/0x1c drm_client_modeset_commit_atomic+0x203/0x250 drm_client_modeset_commit_locked+0x56/0x150 drm_client_modeset_commit+0x21/0x40 drm_fb_helper_lastclose+0x42/0x70 amdgpu_driver_lastclose_kms+0xa/0x10 [amdgpu 340dadd3f7c8cf4be11cf0bdc850245e99abe0e8] drm_release+0xda/0x110 __fput+0x89/0x240 task_work_run+0x5c/0x90 do_exit+0x333/0xae0 do_group_exit+0x2d/0x90 __x64_sys_exit_group+0x14/0x20 do_syscall_64+0x5b/0x80 ? exit_to_user_mode_prepare+0x1e/0x140 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae RIP: 0033:0x7ff016ceaca1 Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at RIP 0x7ff016ceac77. commit 973a9c810c785ac270a6d50d8cf862b0c1643a10 upstream. The YCC conversion matrix for RGB -> COLOR_SPACE_YCBCR2020_TYPE is missing the values for the fourth column of the matrix. The fourth column of the matrix is essentially just a value that is added given that the color is 3 components in size. These values are needed to bias the chroma from the [-1, 1] -> [0, 1] range. This fixes color being very green when using Gamescope HDR on HDMI output which prefers YCC 4:4:4. 2022-12-02drm/amd/dc/dce120: Fix audio register mapping, stop triggering KASANLyude Paul1-1/+2
commit 44035ec2fde1114254ee465f9ba3bb246b0b6283 upstream. There's been a very long running bug that seems to have been neglected for a while, where amdgpu consistently triggers a KASAN error at start: BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in read_indirect_azalia_reg+0x1d4/0x2a0 [amdgpu] Read of size 4 at addr ffffffffc2274b28 by task modprobe/1889 After digging through amd's rather creative method for accessing registers, I eventually discovered the problem likely has to do with the fact that on my dce120 GPU there are supposedly 7 sets of audio registers. But we only define a register mapping for 6 sets. So, fix this and fix the KASAN warning finally. 2022-11-25drm/amd/display: Remove wrong pipe control lockRodrigo Siqueira1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit ca08a1725d0d78efca8d2dbdbce5ea70355da0f2 ] When using a device based on DCN32/321, we have an issue where a second 4k@60Hz display does not light up, and the system becomes unresponsive for a few minutes. In the debug process, it was possible to see a hang in the function dcn20_post_unlock_program_front_end in this part: for (j = 0; j < TIMEOUT_FOR_PIPE_ENABLE_MS*1000 && hubp->funcs->hubp_is_flip_pending(hubp); j++) mdelay(1); } The hubp_is_flip_pending always returns positive for waiting pending flips which is a symptom of pipe hang. Additionally, the dmesg log shows this message after a few minutes: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#4 stuck for 26s! ... [ +0.000003] dcn20_post_unlock_program_front_end+0x112/0x340 [amdgpu] [ +0.000171] dc_commit_state_no_check+0x63d/0xbf0 [amdgpu] [ +0.000155] ? dc_validate_global_state+0x358/0x3d0 [amdgpu] [ +0.000154] dc_commit_state+0xe2/0xf0 [amdgpu] This confirmed the hypothesis that we had a pipe hanging somewhere. Next, after checking the ftrace entries, we have the below weird sequence: [..] 2) | dcn10_lock_all_pipes [amdgpu]() { 2) 0.120 us | optc1_is_tg_enabled [amdgpu](); 2) | dcn20_pipe_control_lock [amdgpu]() { 2) | dc_dmub_srv_clear_inbox0_ack [amdgpu]() { 2) 0.121 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_write [amdgpu](); 2) 0.551 us | } 2) | dc_dmub_srv_send_inbox0_cmd [amdgpu]() { 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_write [amdgpu](); 2) 0.511 us | } 2) | dc_dmub_srv_wait_for_inbox0_ack [amdgpu]() { 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); 2) 0.110 us | amdgpu_dm_dmub_reg_read [amdgpu](); [..] We are not expected to read from dmub register so many times and for so long. From the trace log, it was possible to identify that the function dcn20_pipe_control_lock was triggering the dmub operation when it was unnecessary and causing the hang issue. This commit drops the unnecessary dmub code and, consequently, fixes the second display not lighting up the issue. 2022-09-28drm/amd/display: Mark dml30's UseMinimumDCFCLK() as noinline for stack usageNathan Chancellor1-2/+1
[ Upstream commit 41012d715d5d7b9751ae84b8fb255e404ac9c5d0 ] This function consumes a lot of stack space and it blows up the size of dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull() with clang: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/dml/dcn30/display_mode_vba_30.c:3542:6: error: stack frame size (2200) exceeds limit (2048) in 'dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than] void dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull(struct display_mode_lib *mode_lib) ^ 1 error generated. Commit a0f7e7f759cf ("drm/amd/display: fix i386 frame size warning") aimed to address this for i386 but it did not help x86_64. To reduce the amount of stack space that dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull() uses, mark UseMinimumDCFCLK() as noinline, using the _for_stack variant for documentation. While this will increase the total amount of stack usage between the two functions (1632 and 1304 bytes respectively), it will make sure both stay below the limit of 2048 bytes for these files. The aforementioned change does help reduce UseMinimumDCFCLK()'s stack usage so it should not be reverted in favor of this change. 2022-04-20drm/amd/display: don't ignore alpha property on pre-multiplied modeMelissa Wen2-10/+18
commit e4f1541caf60fcbe5a59e9d25805c0b5865e546a upstream. "Pre-multiplied" is the default pixel blend mode for KMS/DRM, as documented in supported_modes of drm_plane_create_blend_mode_property(): https://cgit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm-misc/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_blend.c In this mode, both 'pixel alpha' and 'plane alpha' participate in the calculation, as described by the pixel blend mode formula in KMS/DRM documentation: out.rgb = plane_alpha * fg.rgb + (1 - (plane_alpha * fg.alpha)) * bg.rgb Considering the blend config mechanisms we have in the driver so far, the alpha mode that better fits this blend mode is the _PER_PIXEL_ALPHA_COMBINED_GLOBAL_GAIN, where the value for global_gain is the plane alpha (global_alpha). With this change, alpha property stops to be ignored. It also addresses Bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1734 v2: * keep the 8-bit value for global_alpha_value (Nicholas) * correct the logical ordering for combined global gain (Nicholas) * apply to dcn10 too (Nicholas) Signed-off-by: Melissa Wen <mwen@igalia.com> Tested-by: Rodrigo Siqueira <Rodrigo.Siqueira@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Harry Wentland <harry.wentland@amd.com> Tested-by: Simon Ser <contact@emersion.fr> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

For now, simply force the maximum supported link rate for the eDP attached 2018 15" Apple Retina panels. 2021-08-08drm/amd/display: Fix max vstartup calculation for modes with bordersNicholas Kazlauskas1-2/+4
[ Upstream commit d7940911fc0754d99b208f0e3098762d39f403a0 ] [Why] Vertical and horizontal borders in timings are treated as increasing the active area - vblank and hblank actually shrink. Our input into DML does not include these borders so it incorrectly assumes it has more time than available for vstartup and tmdl calculations for some modes with borders. An example of such a timing would be 640x480@72Hz: h_total: 832 h_border_left: 8 h_addressable: 640 h_border_right: 8 h_front_porch: 16 h_sync_width: 40 v_total: 520 v_border_top: 8 v_addressable: 480 v_border_bottom: 8 v_front_porch: 1 v_sync_width: 3 pix_clk_100hz: 315000 [How] Include borders as part of destination vactive/hactive. This change DCN20+ so it has wide impact, but the destination vactive and hactive are only really used for vstartup calculation anyway. Most modes do not have vertical or horizontal borders.
