[ Upstream commit a0a37862a4e1844793d39aca9ccb8fecbdcb8659 ]
WDAT table on Lenovo Z50-70 is using RTC SRAM (ports 0x70 and 0x71) to
store state of the timer. This conflicts with Linux RTC driver
(rtc-cmos.c) who fails to reserve those ports for itself preventing RTC
from functioning. In addition the WDAT table seems not to be fully
functional because it does not reset the system when the watchdog times
out.
On this system iTCO_wdt works just fine so we simply prefer to use it
instead of WDAT. This makes RTC working again and also results working
watchdog via iTCO_wdt.

[ Upstream commit cc6a0e315a68e5db85bea347b0c5b0fe4a9a5904 ]
At least on one Dell system the PNP motherboard resources device
includes resources used by WDAT table. Since PNP gets initialized before
WDAT it results following error and no watchdog:
platform wdat_wdt: failed to claim resource 3: [io 0x046a-0x046c]
ACPI: watchdog: Device creation failed: -16
Now, the PNP system driver is already accustomed with the situation that
it cannot reserve all those motherboard resources because drivers using
those might have reserved them already. In addition putting WDAT table
resources under motherboard resources device makes sense in general.
Fix this by initializing WDAT right before PNP. This allows WDAT to
reserve all its resources and still keeps PNP system driver happy.

[ Upstream commit 97f3c0a4b0579b646b6b10ae5a3d59f0441cc12c ]
I found an ACPI cache leak in ACPI early termination and boot continuing case.
When early termination occurs due to malicious ACPI table, Linux kernel
terminates ACPI function and continues to boot process. While kernel terminates
ACPI function, kmem_cache_destroy() reports Acpi-Operand cache leak.

I analyzed this memory leak in detail and found acpi_ns_evaluate() function
only removes Info->return_object in AE_CTRL_RETURN_VALUE case. But, when errors
occur, the status value is not AE_CTRL_RETURN_VALUE, and Info->return_object is
also not null. Therefore, this causes acpi operand memory leak.
This cache leak causes a security threat because an old kernel (<= 4.9) shows
memory locations of kernel functions in stack dump. Some malicious users
could use this information to neutralize kernel ASLR.
I made a patch to fix ACPI operand cache leak.

commit ac1e55b1fdb27c1b07a0a6fe519f1291ff1e7d40 upstream.
Modules such as nouveau.ko and i915.ko have a link time dependency on
acpi_lid_open(), and due to its use of acpi_bus_register_driver(),
the button.ko module that provides it is only loadable when booted in
ACPI mode. However, the ACPI button driver can be built into the core
kernel as well, in which case the dependency can always be satisfied,
and the dependent modules can be loaded regardless of whether the
system was booted in ACPI mode or not.
So let's fix this asymmetry by making the ACPI button driver loadable
as a module even if not booted in ACPI mode, so it can provide the
acpi_lid_open() symbol in the same way as when built into the kernel.

commit 53fa1f6e8a5958da698a31edf366ffe90596b490 upstream.
Commit 5928c281524f (ACPI / video: Default lcd_only to true on Win8-ready
and newer machines) made only_lcd default to true on all machines where
acpi_osi_is_win8() returns true, including laptops.
The purpose of this is to avoid the bogus / non-working acpi backlight
interface which many newer BIOS-es define on desktop machines.
But this is causing a regression on some laptops, specifically on the
Dell XPS 13 2013 model, which does not have the LCD flag set for its
fully functional ACPI backlight interface.
Rather then DMI quirking our way out of this, this commits changes the
logic for setting only_lcd to true, to only do this on machines with
a desktop (or server) dmi chassis-type.
Note that we cannot simply only check the chassis-type and not register
the backlight interface based on that as there are some laptops and
tablets which have their chassis-type set to "3" aka desktop. Hopefully
the combination of checking the LCD flag, but only on devices with
a desktop(ish) chassis-type will avoid the needs for DMI quirks for this,
or at least limit the amount of DMI quirks which we need to a minimum.

commit 0731de476a37c33485af82d64041c9d193208df8 upstream.
Per the ACPI specification the only functional purpose for a DIMM
Control Region to be mapped into the system physical address space, from
an OSPM perspective, is to support block-apertures. However, there are
some BIOSen that publish DIMM Control Region SPA entries for pre-boot
environment consumption. Undo the kernel policy of generating disabled

automatic partition detection at driver load time.
* The new peristence_domain attribute, a platform indicator of

The persistence domain is a point in the platform where once writes
reach that destination the platform claims it will make them persistent
relative to power loss. In the ACPI NFIT this is currently communicated
as 2 bits in the "NFIT - Platform Capabilities Structure". The bits
comprise a hierarchy, i.e. bit0 "CPU Cache Flush to NVDIMM Durability on
Power Loss Capable" implies bit1 "Memory Controller Flush to NVDIMM
Durability on Power Loss Capable".

shows the persistence domain as flags, but it's really an enumerated
hierarchy.

Revert commit c68f0676ef7d ("ACPI / battery: Add quirk for Asus
GL502VSK and UX305LA") and commit 4446823e2573 ("ACPI / battery: Add
quirk for Asus UX360UA and UX410UAK").
On many many Asus products, the battery is sometimes reported as
charging or discharging even when it is full and you are on AC power.
This change quirked the kernel to avoid advertising the discharging
state when this happens on 4 laptop models, under the belief that
this was incorrect information. I presume it originates from user
reports who are confused that their battery status icon says that it
is discharging.
However, the reported information is indeed correct, and the quirk
approach taken is inadequate and more thought is needed first.
Specifically:
1. It only quirks discharging state, not charging
2. There are so many different Asus products and DMI naming variants
within those product families that behave this way; Linux could
grow to quirk hundreds of products and still not even be close at
"winning" this battle.
3. Asus previously clarified that this behaviour is intentional. The
platform will periodically do a partial discharge/charge cycle
when the battery is full, because this is one way to extend the
lifetime of the battery (leaving a battery at 100% charge and
unused will decrease its usable capacity over time).
My understanding is that any decent consumer product will have
this behaviour, but it appears that Asus is different in that
they expose this info through ACPI.
However, the behaviour seems correct. The ACPI spec does not
suggest in that the platform should hide the truth. It lets you
report that the battery is full of charge, and discharging, and
with external power connected; and Asus does this.
4. In terms of not confusing the user, this seems like something that
could/should be handled by userspace, which can also detect these
same (accurate) conditions in the general case.
Revert this quirk before it gets included in a release, while we look
for better approaches.

This is the mindless scripted replacement of kernel use of POLL*
variables as described by Al, done by this script:
for V in IN OUT PRI ERR RDNORM RDBAND WRNORM WRBAND HUP RDHUP NVAL MSG; do
L=`git grep -l -w POLL$V | grep -v '^t' | grep -v /um/ | grep -v '^sa' | grep -v '/poll.h$'|grep -v '^D'`
for f in $L; do sed -i "-es/^\([^\"]*\)\(\<POLL$V\>\)/\\1E\\2/" $f; done
done
with de-mangling cleanups yet to come.
NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.
The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

SPCR is currently only enabled or ARM64 and x86 can use SPCR to setup
an early console.
General fixes include updating Documentation & Kconfig (for x86),
updating comments, and changing parse_spcr() to acpi_parse_spcr(),
and earlycon_init_is_deferred to earlycon_acpi_spcr_enable to be
more descriptive.
On x86, many systems have a valid SPCR table but the table version is
not 2 so the table version check must be a warning.
On ARM64 when the kernel parameter earlycon is used both the early console
and console are enabled. On x86, only the earlycon should be enabled by
by default. Modify acpi_parse_spcr() to allow options for initializing
the early console and console separately.

Add suffix ULL to constant 500 in order to give the compiler complete
information about the proper arithmetic to use. Notice that this
constant is used in a context that expects an expression of type
u64 (64 bits, unsigned).
The expression NUM_RETRIES * cppc_ss->latency at line 578, which at
preprocessing time translates to 500 * cppc_ss->latency is currently

Loading IORT table from initrd can be used to fix severe firmware
IORT defects temporarily before platform/BIOS vendor releases an
upgraded BIOS binary.
Moreover, it is very powerful to debug SMMU node/device probe, MSI
allocation, stream id translation and IORT table from firmware.
It is also very useful to enable SMMU and devices behind SMMU before

This patch adds ACPI_SIG_IORT to the table, which enables IORT

The i2c touchpad on Dell XPS 9570 and Precision M5530 doesn't work out
of box.
The touchpad relies on its _INI method to update its _HID value from
XXXX0000 to SYNA2393.
Also, the _STA relies on value of I2CN to report correct status.
Set acpi_gbl_parse_table_as_term_list so the value of I2CN can be
correctly set up, and _INI can get run. The ACPI table in this machine
is designed to get parsed this way.
Also, change the quirk table to a more generic name.

This is because if there's only one online CPU, the MSR_PM_ENABLE
(package wide)can not be enabled after resumed, due to
intel_pstate_hwp_enable() will only be invoked on AP's online
process after resumed - if there's no AP online, the HWP remains
disabled after resumed (BIOS has disabled it in S3). Then if
there comes a _PPC change notification which touches HWP register
during this stage, the warning is triggered.
Since we don't call acpi_processor_register_performance() when
HWP is enabled, the pr->performance will be NULL. When this is
NULL we don't need to do _PPC change notification.

The acpi_get_bus_status wrapper for acpi_bus_get_status_handle has some
code to handle certain device quirks, in some cases we also need this
quirk handling for the initial _STA call.
Specifically on some devices calling _STA before all _DEP dependencies
are met results in errors like these:
[ 0.123579] ACPI Error: No handler for Region [ECRM] (00000000ba9edc4c)
[GenericSerialBus] (20170831/evregion-166)
[ 0.123601] ACPI Error: Region GenericSerialBus (ID=9) has no handler
(20170831/exfldio-299)
[ 0.123618] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed
\_SB.I2C1.BAT1._STA, AE_NOT_EXIST (20170831/psparse-550)
acpi_get_bus_status already has code to avoid this, so by using it we
also silence these errors from the initial _STA call.
Note that in order for the acpi_get_bus_status handling for this to work,
we initialize dep_unmet to 1 until acpi_device_dep_initialize gets called,
this means that battery devices will be instantiated with an initial
status of 0. This is not a problem, acpi_bus_attach will get called soon
after the instantiation anyways and it will update the status as first
point of order.

The battery code uses acpi_device->dep_unmet to check for unmet deps and
if there are unmet deps it does not bind to the device to avoid errors
about missing OpRegions when calling ACPI methods on the device.
The missing OpRegions when there are unmet deps problem also applies to
the _STA method of some battery devices and calling it too early results
in errors like these:
[ 0.123579] ACPI Error: No handler for Region [ECRM] (00000000ba9edc4c)
[GenericSerialBus] (20170831/evregion-166)
[ 0.123601] ACPI Error: Region GenericSerialBus (ID=9) has no handler
(20170831/exfldio-299)
[ 0.123618] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed
\_SB.I2C1.BAT1._STA, AE_NOT_EXIST (20170831/psparse-550)
This commit fixes these errors happening when acpi_get_bus_status gets
called by checking dep_unmet for battery devices and reporting a status
of 0 until all dependencies are met.
