KEYCTL_PKEY_VERIFY lets an unprivileged caller supply a zero-length
digest (in_len == 0). keyctl_pkey_params_get_2() accepts the zero
length and the request reaches pkcs1pad_verify(), where the empty
digest is rejected but only after being passed through
WARN_ON(!digest_size). The warning is therefore directly
user-triggerable, and on kernels built with panic_on_warn=1 an
unprivileged process can panic the machine -- a local denial of
service. Reproduced as UID 65534 in a setuid sandbox.
Keep rejecting the invalid request with -EINVAL, but do not emit a
warning for the user-controlled length.
Mainline does not contain this code path; commit 1e562deacecc
("crypto: rsassa-pkcs1 - Migrate to sig_alg backend") removed
pkcs1pad_verify() in v6.13-rc1. This is a minimal fix for the
affected stable branches. It applies as-is to 6.1.y, 6.6.y and
6.12.y (identical pkcs1pad_verify); the 5.10.y/5.15.y form is sent
as a separate patch due to the older req->dst_len spelling.

pefile_digest_pe_contents() computes the trailing-data hash length as
pelen - (hashed_bytes + certs_size). A crafted PE can make the addition
exceed pelen, causing the unsigned subtraction to underflow to ~4 GiB.
This is passed to crypto_shash_update() which reads out of bounds and
panics on unmapped vmalloc guard pages.

The ->curve_oid check in ecrdsa_param_curve() rejects the valid enum
value 0 (OID_id_dsa_with_sha1), but look_up_OID() returns OID__NR on
lookup failure. Compare ->curve_oid with OID__NR instead to ensure that
only unknown OIDs return -EINVAL.

ctx->state
The AIO/async path in skcipher_recvmsg() passes the socket-wide ctx->iv
directly into the skcipher request. After io_submit() the socket lock is
dropped and the request is processed asynchronously, so a concurrent
sendmsg(ALG_SET_IV) can overwrite ctx->iv and make the in-flight request
run under an attacker-controlled IV. For CTR/stream modes this is
IV/keystream reuse and lets an unprivileged user recover the plaintext of
a concurrent operation.
Snapshotting ctx->iv into per-request storage for the async path is not
sufficient. For ciphers with statesize == 0 - which includes cbc and ctr -
the MSG_MORE inter-chunk IV chaining is carried solely by the in-place
req->iv writeback, which a snapshot redirects into per-request memory that
af_alg_free_resources() releases on completion, silently producing wrong
output. Writing the IV back from the completion callback instead is not
possible either: that would require lock_sock() there, but the callback can
run in softirq/atomic context, so it must not sleep.
Make the operation synchronous instead, which removes both the IV race and
any writeback race. This is equivalent to the upstream resolution, commit
fcc77d33a34c ("net: Remove support for AIO on sockets"), which removed the
AIO socket path across net/ entirely and so produces the same end state for
this file. This patch deviates from that commit deliberately: rather than
removing AIO socket support tree-wide, which would be far too invasive for
stable, it removes only the AIO branch in crypto/algif_skcipher.c.
io_submit() now completes synchronously; AF_ALG async is rarely used in
practice.
The -EIOCBQUEUED check in skcipher_recvmsg() is now dead but harmless,
and is left alone to keep the fix minimal.
Tested on 6.6.y: attacker IV injection dropped from 2296/200000 to 0/200000
after the change; MSG_MORE chunked CTR output bit-identical to single-shot.

When fips_enabled=1, it seems to have been intended for one of the
algorithms defined in crypto/drbg.c to be the highest priority "stdrng"
algorithm, so that it is what is used by "stdrng" users.
However, the code only boosts the priority to 400, which is less than
the priority 500 used in drivers/crypto/caam/caamprng.c. Thus, the CAAM
RNG could be used instead.
Fix this by boosting the priority by 2000 instead of 200.

pcrypt installs pcrypt_aead_done() on the child AEAD request before
trying to submit it through padata. If padata_do_parallel() returns
-EBUSY, pcrypt falls back to calling the child AEAD directly.
That fallback must not keep the padata completion callback. Otherwise
an asynchronous completion runs pcrypt_aead_done() even though the
request was never enrolled in padata.
Restore the original request callback and callback data before calling
the child AEAD directly. This keeps the fallback path aligned with a
direct AEAD request while leaving the parallel path unchanged.

The carry flag calculation fails when r01.m_high is saturated
(0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF) and addition of lower bits overflows.
The condition (r01.m_high < product.m_high) doesn't handle the case
where r01.m_high == product.m_high and an additional carry exists
from lower-bit overflow.
When commit 3c4b23901a0c ("crypto: ecdh - Add ECDH software support")
introduced crypto/ecc.c, it split the muladd() function in the
micro-ecc library into separate mul_64_64() and add_128_128() helpers.
It seems the check got lost in translation.
Add proper handling for this boundary by accounting for the carry
from the lower addition.

The zero-copy support is one of the riskiest aspects of AF_ALG. It
allows userspace to request cryptographic operations directly on
pagecache pages of files like the 'su' binary. It also allows userspace
to concurrently modify the memory which is being operated on, a recipe
for TOCTOU vulnerabilities.
While zero-copy support is more valuable in other areas of the kernel
like the frequently used networking and file I/O code, it has far less
value in AF_ALG, which is a niche UAPI. AF_ALG primarily just exists
for backwards compatibility with a small set of userspace programs such
as 'iwd' that haven't yet been fixed to use userspace crypto code.
Originally AF_ALG was intended to be used to access hardware crypto
accelerators. However, it isn't an efficient interface for that anyway,
and it turned out to be rarely used in this way in practice.
Thus, the risks of the zero-copy support in AF_ALG vastly outweigh its
benefits. Let's just remove it.
This commit removes it from the "skcipher" and "aead" algorithm types.
"hash" will be handled separately.
This is a soft break, not a hard break. Even after this commit, it
still works to use splice() or sendfile() to transfer data to an AF_ALG
request socket from a pipe or any file, respectively. What changes is
just that the kernel now makes an internal, stable copy of the data
before doing the crypto operation. So performance is slightly reduced,
but the UAPI isn't broken. And, very importantly, it's much safer.
Tested with libkcapi/test.sh. All its test cases still pass. I also
verified that this would have prevented the copy.fail exploit as well.
I also used a custom test program to verify that sendfile() still works.

x509_load_certificate_list() seeks to enforce that a certificate starts
with 0x30 0x82 (ASN.1 SEQUENCE tag followed by a length of more than 256
and less than 65535 bytes).
But it only enforces that *either* of those two byte values are present,
instead of checking for the *conjunction* of the two values. Fix it.

jent_kcapi_random() serializes the shared jitterentropy state, but it
currently holds a spinlock across the jent_read_entropy() call. That
path performs expensive jitter collection and SHA3 conditioning, so
parallel readers can trigger stalls as contending waiters spin for
the same lock.
To prevent non-preemptible lock hold, replace rng->jent_lock with a
mutex so contended readers sleep instead of spinning on a shared lock
held across expensive entropy generation.

authencesn requires either a zero authsize or an authsize of at least
4 bytes because the ESN encrypt/decrypt paths always move 4 bytes of
high-order sequence number data at the end of the authenticated data.
While crypto_authenc_esn_setauthsize() already rejects explicit
non-zero authsizes in the range 1..3, crypto_authenc_esn_create()
still copied auth->digestsize into inst->alg.maxauthsize without
validating it. The AEAD core then initialized the tfm's default
authsize from that value.
As a result, selecting an ahash with digest size 1..3, such as
cbcmac(cipher_null), exposed authencesn instances whose default
authsize was invalid even though setauthsize() would have rejected the
same value. AF_ALG could then trigger the ESN tail handling with a
too-short tag and hit an out-of-bounds access.
Reject authencesn instances whose ahash digest size is in the invalid
non-zero range 1..3 so that no tfm can inherit an unsupported default
authsize.

When page reassignment was added to af_alg_pull_tsgl the original
loop wasn't updated so it may try to reassign one more page than
necessary.
Add the check to the reassignment so that this does not happen.
Also update the comment which still refers to the obsolete offset
argument.

AF_ALG AEAD AIO requests currently use the socket-wide IV buffer during
request processing. For async requests, later socket activity can
update that shared state before the original request has fully
completed, which can lead to inconsistent IV handling.
Snapshot the IV into per-request storage when preparing the AEAD
request, so in-flight operations no longer depend on mutable socket
state.

This mostly reverts commit 72548b093ee3 except for the copying of
the associated data.
There is no benefit in operating in-place in algif_aead since the
source and destination come from different mappings. Get rid of
all the complexity added for in-place operation and just copy the
AD directly.

This backports the current implementation of memcpy_sglist() from
upstream commit 4dffc9bbffb9ccfcda730d899c97c553599e7ca8.
This function was rewritten twice. The earlier implementations had many
prerequisite commits, while the latest implementation is standalone.
It's much easier to just backport the latest code directly.

The previous patch removed the ENOENT warning at the point of
allocation, but the overall self-test warning is still there.
Fix all of them by returning zero as the test result. This is
safe because if the algorithm has gone away, then it cannot be
marked as tested.

When a crypto algorithm with a higher priority is registered, it
kills the spawns of all lower-priority algorithms. Thus it is to
be expected for an algorithm to go away at any time, even during
a self-test. This is now much more common with asynchronous testing.
Remove the printk when an ENOENT is encountered during a self-test.

Leo reports an out-of-bounds access when parsing a certificate with
empty Basic Constraints or Key Usage extension because the first byte of
the extension is read before checking its length. Fix it.
The bug can be triggered by an unprivileged user by submitting a
specially crafted certificate to the kernel through the keyrings(7) API.
Leo has demonstrated this with a proof-of-concept program responsibly
disclosed off-list.

The AF_ALG interface fails to unmark the end of a Scatter/Gather List (SGL)
when chaining a new af_alg_tsgl structure. If a sendmsg() fills an SGL
exactly to MAX_SGL_ENTS, the last entry is marked as the end. A subsequent
sendmsg() allocates a new SGL and chains it, but fails to clear the end
marker on the previous SGL's last data entry.
This causes the crypto scatterwalk to hit a premature end, returning NULL
on sg_next() and leading to a kernel panic during dereference.
Fix this by explicitly unmarking the end of the previous SGL when
performing sg_chain() in af_alg_alloc_tsgl().

authencesn assumes an ESP/ESN-formatted AAD. When assoclen is shorter than
the minimum expected length, crypto_authenc_esn_decrypt() can advance past
the end of the destination scatterlist and trigger a NULL pointer dereference
in scatterwalk_map_and_copy(), leading to a kernel panic (DoS).
Add a minimum AAD length check to fail fast on invalid inputs.

As soon as crypto_aead_encrypt is called, the underlying request
may be freed by an asynchronous completion. Thus dereferencing
req->iv after it returns is invalid.
Instead of checking req->iv against info, create a new variable
unaligned_info and use it for that purpose instead.

Several crypto user API contexts and requests allocated with
sock_kmalloc() were left uninitialized, relying on callers to
set fields explicitly. This resulted in the use of uninitialized
data in certain error paths or when new fields are added in the
future.
The ACVP patches also contain two user-space interface files:
algif_kpp.c and algif_akcipher.c. These too rely on proper
initialization of their context structures.
A particular issue has been observed with the newly added
'inflight' variable introduced in af_alg_ctx by commit:
67b164a871af ("crypto: af_alg - Disallow multiple in-flight AIO requests")
Because the context is not memset to zero after allocation,
the inflight variable has contained garbage values. As a result,
af_alg_alloc_areq() has incorrectly returned -EBUSY randomly when
the garbage value was interpreted as true:

The check directly tests ctx->inflight without explicitly
comparing against true/false. Since inflight is only ever set to
true or false later, an uninitialized value has triggered
-EBUSY failures. Zero-initializing memory allocated with
sock_kmalloc() ensures inflight and other fields start in a known
state, removing random issues caused by uninitialized data.

Use check_add_overflow() to guard against potential integer overflows
when adding the binary blob lengths and the size of an asymmetric_key_id
structure and return ERR_PTR(-EOVERFLOW) accordingly. This prevents a
possible buffer overflow when copying data from potentially malicious
X.509 certificate fields that can be arbitrarily large, such as ASN.1
INTEGER serial numbers, issuer names, etc.

When authenc is invoked with MAY_BACKLOG, it needs to pass EINPROGRESS
notifications back up to the caller when the underlying algorithm
returns EBUSY synchronously.
However, if the EBUSY comes from the second part of an authenc call,
i.e., it is asynchronous, both the EBUSY and the subsequent EINPROGRESS
notification must not be passed to the caller.
Implement this by passing a mask to the function that starts the
second half of authenc and using it to determine whether EBUSY
and EINPROGRESS should be passed to the caller.
This was a deficiency in the original implementation of authenc
because it was not expected to be used with MAY_BACKLOG.

Fix the X.509 Basic Constraints CA flag parsing to correctly handle
the ASN.1 DER encoded structure. The parser was incorrectly treating
the length field as the boolean value.
Per RFC 5280 section 4.1, X.509 certificates must use ASN.1 DER encoding.
According to ITU-T X.690, a DER-encoded BOOLEAN is represented as:
Tag (0x01), Length (0x01), Value (0x00 for FALSE, 0xFF for TRUE)
The basicConstraints extension with CA:TRUE is encoded as:
SEQUENCE (0x30) | Length | BOOLEAN (0x01) | Length (0x01) | Value (0xFF)
^-- v[2] ^-- v[3] ^-- v[4]
The parser was checking v[3] (the length field, always 0x01) instead
of v[4] (the actual boolean value, 0xFF for TRUE in DER encoding).
Also handle the case where the extension is an empty SEQUENCE (30 00),
which is valid for CA:FALSE when the default value is omitted as
required by DER encoding rules (X.690 section 11.5).
Per ITU-T X.690-0207:
- Section 11.5: Default values must be omitted in DER
- Section 11.1: DER requires TRUE to be encoded as 0xFF

If an error causes af_alg_sendmsg to abort, ctx->merge may contain
a garbage value from the previous loop. This may then trigger a
crash on the next entry into af_alg_sendmsg when it attempts to do
a merge that can't be done.
Fix this by setting ctx->merge to zero near the start of the loop.

Issuing two writes to the same af_alg socket is bogus as the
data will be interleaved in an unpredictable fashion. Furthermore,
concurrent writes may create inconsistencies in the internal
socket state.
Disallow this by adding a new ctx->write field that indiciates
exclusive ownership for writing.

Herbert notes that DIV_ROUND_UP() may overflow unnecessarily if an ecdsa
implementation's ->key_size() callback returns an unusually large value.
Herbert instead suggests (for a division by 8):
X / 8 + !!(X & 7)
Based on this formula, introduce a generic DIV_ROUND_UP_POW2() macro and
use it in lieu of DIV_ROUND_UP() for ->key_size() return values.
Additionally, use the macro in ecc_digits_from_bytes(), whose "nbytes"
parameter is a ->key_size() return value in some instances, or a
user-specified ASN.1 length in the case of ecdsa_get_signature_rs().

Unlike the decompression code, the compression code in LZO never
checked for output overruns. It instead assumes that the caller
always provides enough buffer space, disregarding the buffer length
provided by the caller.
Add a safe compression interface that checks for the end of buffer
before each write. Use the safe interface in crypto/lzo.

Prevent ecc_digits_from_bytes from reading too many bytes from the input
byte array in case an insufficient number of bytes is provided to fill the
output digit array of ndigits. Therefore, initialize the most significant
digits with 0 to avoid trying to read too many bytes later on. Convert the
function into a regular function since it is getting too big for an inline
function.
If too many bytes are provided on the input byte array the extra bytes
are ignored since the input variable 'ndigits' limits the number of digits
that will be filled.

When extracting a signature component r or s from an ASN.1-encoded
integer, ecdsa_get_signature_rs() subtracts the expected length
"bufsize" from the ASN.1 length "vlen" (both of unsigned type size_t)
and stores the result in "diff" (of signed type ssize_t).
This results in a signed integer overflow if vlen > SSIZE_MAX + bufsize.
The kernel is compiled with -fno-strict-overflow, which implies -fwrapv,
meaning signed integer overflow is not undefined behavior. And the
function does check for overflow:
if (-diff >= bufsize)
return -EINVAL;
So the code is fine in principle but not very obvious. In the future it
might trigger a false-positive with CONFIG_UBSAN_SIGNED_WRAP=y.
Avoid by comparing the two unsigned variables directly and erroring out
if "vlen" is too large.

Since ecc_digits_from_bytes will provide zeros when an insufficient number
of bytes are passed in the input byte array, use it to convert the r and s
components of the signature to digits directly from the input byte
array. This avoids going through an intermediate byte array that has the
first few bytes filled with zeros.
