[ Upstream commit 01d798e9feb30212952d4e992801ba6bd6a82351 ] jent_kcapi_random() serializes the shared jitterentropy state, but it currently holds a spinlock across the jent_read_entropy() call. That path performs expensive jitter collection and SHA3 conditioning, so parallel readers can trigger stalls as contending waiters spin for the same lock. To prevent non-preemptible lock hold, replace rng->jent_lock with a mutex so contended readers sleep instead of spinning on a shared lock held across expensive entropy generation. 2026-05-07crypto: authencesn - reject short ahash digests during instance creationYucheng Lu1-0/+5
commit 5db6ef9847717329f12c5ea8aba7e9f588a980c0 upstream. authencesn requires either a zero authsize or an authsize of at least 4 bytes because the ESN encrypt/decrypt paths always move 4 bytes of high-order sequence number data at the end of the authenticated data. While crypto_authenc_esn_setauthsize() already rejects explicit non-zero authsizes in the range 1..3, crypto_authenc_esn_create() still copied auth->digestsize into inst->alg.maxauthsize without validating it. The AEAD core then initialized the tfm's default authsize from that value. As a result, selecting an ahash with digest size 1..3, such as cbcmac(cipher_null), exposed authencesn instances whose default authsize was invalid even though setauthsize() would have rejected the same value. AF_ALG could then trigger the ESN tail handling with a too-short tag and hit an out-of-bounds access. Reject authencesn instances whose ahash digest size is in the invalid non-zero range 1..3 so that no tfm can inherit an unsupported default authsize. 2026-05-07crypto: acomp - fix wrong pointer stored by acomp_save_req()Giovanni Cabiddu1-5/+3
commit d7e20b9bd6c990773cf0c09e2642250b8a70263d upstream. acomp_save_req() stores &req->chain in req->base.data. When acomp_reqchain_done() is invoked on asynchronous completion, it receives &req->chain as the data argument but casts it directly to struct acomp_req. Since data points to the chain member, all subsequent field accesses are at a wrong offset, resulting in memory corruption. The issue occurs when an asynchronous hardware implementation, such as the QAT driver, completes a request that uses the DMA virtual address interface (e.g. acomp_request_set_src_dma()). This combination causes crypto_acomp_compress() to enter the acomp_do_req_chain() path, which sets acomp_reqchain_done() as the completion callback via acomp_save_req(). For async requests, later socket activity can update that shared state before the original request has fully completed, which can lead to inconsistent IV handling. Snapshot the IV into per-request storage when preparing the AEAD request, so in-flight operations no longer depend on mutable socket state. 2026-04-27crypto: krb5enc - fix async decrypt skipping hash verificationDudu Lu1-21/+31
commit 3bfbf5f0a99c991769ec562721285df7ab69240b upstream. krb5enc_dispatch_decrypt() sets req->base.complete as the skcipher callback, which is the caller's own completion handler. When the skcipher completes asynchronously, this signals "done" to the caller without executing krb5enc_dispatch_decrypt_hash(), completely bypassing the integrity verification (hash check). Compare with the encrypt path which correctly uses krb5enc_encrypt_done as an intermediate callback to chain into the hash computation on async completion. Fix by adding krb5enc_decrypt_done as an intermediate callback that chains into krb5enc_dispatch_decrypt_hash() upon async skcipher completion, matching the encrypt path's callback pattern. Also fix EBUSY/EINPROGRESS handling throughout: remove krb5enc_request_complete() which incorrectly swallowed EINPROGRESS notifications that must be passed up to callers waiting on backlogged requests, and add missing EBUSY checks in krb5enc_encrypt_ahash_done for the dispatch_encrypt return value. commit 2ef3bac16fb5e9eee4fb1d722578a79b751ea58a upstream. krb5enc_encrypt_ahash_done() continues encryption from an ahash completion callback by calling krb5enc_dispatch_encrypt(). That helper takes a flags argument for this continuation path, but it ignored that argument and reused aead_request_flags(req) when setting up the skcipher subrequest callback. This can incorrectly preserve CRYPTO_TFM_REQ_MAY_SLEEP when the encrypt step is started from callback context. Preserve the original request flags but clear CRYPTO_TFM_REQ_MAY_SLEEP for the callback continuation path, and use the caller-supplied flags when setting up the skcipher subrequest. [ Upstream commit 8eceab19eba9dcbfd2a0daec72e1bf48aa100170 ] Make af_alg_get_rsgl() limit each RX scatterlist extraction to the remaining receive buffer budget. af_alg_get_rsgl() currently uses af_alg_readable() only as a gate before extracting data into the RX scatterlist. Limit each extraction to the remaining af_alg_rcvbuf(sk) budget so that receive-side accounting matches the amount of data attached to the request. If skcipher cannot obtain enough RX space for at least one chunk while more data remains to be processed, reject the recvmsg call instead of rounding the request length down to zero. Leo reports an out-of-bounds access when parsing a certificate with empty Basic Constraints or Key Usage extension because the first byte of the extension is read before checking its length. Fix it. The bug can be triggered by an unprivileged user by submitting a specially crafted certificate to the kernel through the keyrings(7) API. Leo has demonstrated this with a proof-of-concept program responsibly disclosed off-list. [ Upstream commit 62397b493e14107ae82d8b80938f293d95425bcb ] The AF_ALG interface fails to unmark the end of a Scatter/Gather List (SGL) when chaining a new af_alg_tsgl structure. If a sendmsg() fills an SGL exactly to MAX_SGL_ENTS, the last entry is marked as the end. A subsequent sendmsg() allocates a new SGL and chains it, but fails to clear the end marker on the previous SGL's last data entry. This causes the crypto scatterwalk to hit a premature end, returning NULL on sg_next() and leading to a kernel panic during dereference. Fix this by explicitly unmarking the end of the previous SGL when performing sg_chain() in af_alg_alloc_tsgl(). [ Upstream commit 6d89f743e57cb34e233a8217b394c7ee09abf225 ] The code in deflate_decompress_one may erroneously return -ENOSPC even if it didn't run out of output space. The error happens under this condition: - Suppose that there are two input pages, the compressed data fits into the first page and the zlib checksum is placed in the second page. - The code iterates over the first page, decompresses the data and fully fills the destination buffer, zlib_inflate returns Z_OK becuse zlib hasn't seen the checksum yet. - The outer do-while loop is iterated again, acomp_walk_next_src sets the input parameters to the second page containing the checksum. - We go into the inner do-while loop, execute "dcur = acomp_walk_next_dst(&walk);". "dcur" is zero, so we break out of the loop and return -ENOSPC, despite the fact that the decompressed data fit into the destination buffer. In order to fix this bug, this commit changes the logic when to report the -ENOSPC error. We report the error if the destination buffer is empty *and* if zlib_inflate didn't make any progress consuming the input buffer. If zlib_inflate consumes the trailing checksum, we see that it made progress and we will not return -ENOSPC. Several crypto user API contexts and requests allocated with sock_kmalloc() were left uninitialized, relying on callers to set fields explicitly. This resulted in the use of uninitialized data in certain error paths or when new fields are added in the future. The ACVP patches also contain two user-space interface files: algif_kpp.c and algif_akcipher.c. These too rely on proper initialization of their context structures. A particular issue has been observed with the newly added 'inflight' variable introduced in af_alg_ctx by commit: 67b164a871af ("crypto: af_alg - Disallow multiple in-flight AIO requests") Because the context is not memset to zero after allocation, the inflight variable has contained garbage values. As a result, af_alg_alloc_areq() has incorrectly returned -EBUSY randomly when the garbage value was interpreted as true: https://github.com/gregkh/linux/blame/master/crypto/af_alg.c#L1209 The check directly tests ctx->inflight without explicitly comparing against true/false. Since inflight is only ever set to true or false later, an uninitialized value has triggered -EBUSY failures. Zero-initializing memory allocated with sock_kmalloc() ensures inflight and other fields start in a known state, removing random issues caused by uninitialized data. 2026-01-02crypto: scatterwalk - Fix memcpy_sglist() to always succeedEric Biggers1-13/+84

The original implementation of memcpy_sglist() was broken because it didn't handle scatterlists that describe exactly the same memory, which is a case that many callers rely on. The current implementation is broken too because it calls the skcipher_walk functions which can fail. It ignores any errors from those functions. Fix it by replacing it with a new implementation written from scratch. It always succeeds. It's also a bit faster, since it avoids the overhead of skcipher_walk. skcipher_walk includes a lot of functionality (such as alignmask handling) that's irrelevant here. [ Upstream commit 9b04d8f00569573796dd05397f5779135593eb24 ] Commit afddce13ce81d ("crypto: api - Add reqsize to crypto_alg") introduced cra_reqsize field in crypto_alg struct to replace type specific reqsize fields. It looks like this was introduced specifically for ahash and acomp from the commit description as subsequent commits add necessary changes in these alg frameworks. However, this is being recommended for use in all crypto algs instead of setting reqsize using crypto_*_set_reqsize(). Using cra_reqsize in aead algorithms, hence, causes memory corruptions and crashes as the underlying functions in the algorithm framework have not been updated to set the reqsize properly from cra_reqsize. [ Upstream commit 96feb73def02d175850daa0e7c2c90c876681b5c ] When authenc is invoked with MAY_BACKLOG, it needs to pass EINPROGRESS notifications back up to the caller when the underlying algorithm returns EBUSY synchronously. However, if the EBUSY comes from the second part of an authenc call, i.e., it is asynchronous, both the EBUSY and the subsequent EINPROGRESS notification must not be passed to the caller. Implement this by passing a mask to the function that starts the second half of authenc and using it to determine whether EBUSY and EINPROGRESS should be passed to the caller. This was a deficiency in the original implementation of authenc because it was not expected to be used with MAY_BACKLOG. commit 48bc9da3c97c15f1ea24934bcb3b736acd30163d upstream. The crypto/zstd module has a double-free bug that occurs when multiple tfms are allocated and freed. The issue happens because zstd_streams (per-CPU contexts) are freed in zstd_exit() during every tfm destruction, rather than being managed at the module level. When multiple tfms exist, each tfm exit attempts to free the same shared per-CPU streams, resulting in a double-free. Fix the X.509 Basic Constraints CA flag parsing to correctly handle the ASN.1 DER encoded structure. The parser was incorrectly treating the length field as the boolean value. Per RFC 5280 section 4.1, X.509 certificates must use ASN.1 DER encoding. According to ITU-T X.690, a DER-encoded BOOLEAN is represented as: Tag (0x01), Length (0x01), Value (0x00 for FALSE, 0xFF for TRUE) The basicConstraints extension with CA:TRUE is encoded as: SEQUENCE (0x30) | Length | BOOLEAN (0x01) | Length (0x01) | Value (0xFF) ^-- v[2] ^-- v[3] ^-- v[4] The parser was checking v[3] (the length field, always 0x01) instead of v[4] (the actual boolean value, 0xFF for TRUE in DER encoding). Also handle the case where the extension is an empty SEQUENCE (30 00), which is valid for CA:FALSE when the default value is omitted as required by DER encoding rules (X.690 section 11.5). This patch extends the BPF_PROG_LOAD command by adding three new fields to `union bpf_attr` in the user-space API: - signature: A pointer to the signature blob. - signature_size: The size of the signature blob. - keyring_id: The serial number of a loaded kernel keyring (e.g., the user or session keyring) containing the trusted public keys. When a BPF program is loaded with a signature, the kernel: 1. Retrieves the trusted keyring using the provided `keyring_id`. 2. Verifies the supplied signature against the BPF program's instruction buffer. 3. If the signature is valid and was generated by a key in the trusted keyring, the program load proceeds. 4. If no signature is provided, the load proceeds as before, allowing for backward compatibility. LSMs can chose to restrict unsigned programs and implement a security policy. 5. If signature verification fails for any reason, the program is not loaded. In commit 42d9f6c77479 ("crypto: acomp - Move scomp stream allocation code into acomp"), the crypto_acomp_streams struct was made to rely on having the alloc_ctx and free_ctx operations defined in the same order as the scomp_alg struct. But in that same commit, the alloc_ctx and free_ctx members of scomp_alg may be randomized by structure layout randomization, since they are contained in a pure ops structure (containing only function pointers). If the pointers within scomp_alg are randomized, but those in crypto_acomp_streams are not, then the order may no longer match. This fixes the problem by removing the union from scomp_alg so that both crypto_acomp_streams and scomp_alg will share the same definition of alloc_ctx and free_ctx, ensuring they will always have the same layout. Currently if a user enqueue a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() use WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a cpu is not specified). The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistentcy cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. alloc_workqueue() treats all queues as per-CPU by default, while unbound workqueues must opt-in via WQ_UNBOUND. This default is suboptimal: most workloads benefit from unbound queues, allowing the scheduler to place worker threads where they’re needed and reducing noise when CPUs are isolated. This patch adds a new WQ_PERCPU flag to explicitly request the use of the per-CPU behavior. Both flags coexist for one release cycle to allow callers to transition their calls. With the introduction of the WQ_PERCPU flag (equivalent to !WQ_UNBOUND), any alloc_workqueue() caller that doesn’t explicitly specify WQ_UNBOUND must now use WQ_PERCPU. We'll instead focus on the Curve25519 library API (<crypto/curve25519.h>), which is a simpler and easier-to-use API and is the API that is actually being used.
