2010-07-06arch/tile: Miscellaneous cleanup changes.Chris Metcalf56-679/+798
This commit is primarily changes caused by reviewing "sparse" and "checkpatch" output on our sources, so is somewhat noisy, since things like "printk() -> pr_err()" (or whatever) throughout the codebase tend to get tedious to read. Rather than trying to tease apart precisely which things changed due to which type of code review, this commit includes various cleanups in the code: - sparse: Add declarations in headers for globals. - sparse: Fix __user annotations. - sparse: Using gfp_t consistently instead of int. - sparse: removing functions not actually used. - checkpatch: Clean up printk() warnings by using pr_info(), etc.; also avoid partial-line printks except in bootup code. - checkpatch: Use exposed structs rather than typedefs. - checkpatch: Change some C99 comments to C89 comments. In addition, a couple of minor other changes are rolled in to this commit: - Add support for a "raise" instruction to cause SIGFPE, etc., to be raised. - Remove some compat code that is unnecessary when we fully eliminate some of the deprecated syscalls from the generic syscall ABI. - Update the tile_defconfig to reflect current config contents. 2010-07-06arch/tile: Split the icache flush code off to a generic <arch> header.Chris Metcalf5-114/+120
This code is used in other places in our system than in Linux, so to share it we now implement it as an inline function in our low-level <arch> headers, and instantiate it in one file in Linux's arch/tile/lib. The file is now cacheflush.c and is C code rather than the strangely-named and assembler-implemented __invalidate_icache.S. 2010-07-06arch/tile: Fix bug in support for atomic64_xx() ops.Chris Metcalf1-4/+3
This wasn't properly tested until the perf-event subsystem started to get brought up under the tile architecture. The bug caused bogus atomic64_cmpxchg() values to be returned, among other things. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com> Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
2010-07-06arch/tile: Shrink the tile-opcode files considerably.Chris Metcalf3-12527/+1017
The C file (tile-desc_{32,64}.c) was about 300KB before this change, and is now shrunk down to 100K. The original file included support for BFD in the binutils toolchain, which is not necessary in the kernel; the kernel version only needs to include enough support to enable the single-stepper and backtracer. 2010-07-06arch/tile: Add driver to enable access to the user dynamic network.Chris Metcalf7-6/+874
This network (the "UDN") connects all the cpus on the chip in a wormhole-routed dynamic network. Subrectangles of the chip can be allocated by a "create" ioctl on /dev/hardwall, and then to access the UDN in that rectangle, tasks must perform an "activate" ioctl on that same file object after affinitizing themselves to a single cpu in the region. Sending a wormhole-routed message that tries to leave that subrectangle causes all activated tasks to receive a SIGILL (just as they would if they tried to access the UDN without first activating themselves to a hardwall rectangle). The original submission of this code to LKML had the driver instantiated under /proc/tile/hardwall. Now we just use a character device for this, conventionally /dev/hardwall. Some futures planning for the TILE-Gx chip suggests that we may want to have other types of devices that share the general model of "bind a task to a cpu, then 'activate' a file descriptor on a pseudo-device that gives access to some hardware resource". As such, we are using a device rather than, for example, a syscall, to set up and activate this code. As part of this change, the compat_ptr() declaration was fixed and used to pass the compat_ioctl argument to the normal ioctl. So far we limit compat code to 2GB, so the difference between zero-extend and sign-extend (the latter being correct, eventually) had been overlooked. 2010-07-06arch/tile: Enable more sophisticated IRQ model for 32-bit chips.Chris Metcalf9-154/+435
This model is based on the on-chip interrupt model used by the TILE-Gx next-generation hardware, and interacts much more cleanly with the Linux generic IRQ layer. The change includes modifications to the Tilera hypervisor, which are reflected in the hypervisor headers in arch/tile/include/arch/. 2010-06-12PCI: clear bridge resource range if BIOS assigned bad oneYinghai Lu4-0/+5
Yannick found that video does not work with 2.6.34. The cause of this bug was that the BIOS had assigned the wrong range to the PCI bridge above the video device. Before 2.6.34 the kernel would have shrunk the size of the bridge window, but since d65245c PCI: don't shrink bridge resources the kernel will avoid shrinking BIOS ranges. So zero out the old range if we fail to claim it at boot time; this will cause us to allocate a new range at startup, restoring the 2.6.34 behavior. 2010-06-09FRV: Reinstate null behaviour for the GDB remote protocol 'p' commandDavid Howells1-0/+6
Reinstate the null behaviour that the in-kernel gdbstub had for the GDB remote protocol 'p' command (retrieve a single register value) prior to commit 7ca8b9c0dafd ("frv: extend gdbstub to support more features of gdb"). Before that, the 'p' command just returned an empty reply, which causes gdb to then go and use the 'g' command. However, since that commit, the 'p' command returns an error string, which causes gdb to abort its connection to the target. Not all gdb versions are affected, some use try 'g' first, and if that works, don't bother with 'p', and so don't see the error. If cr0.wp=0, we have to allow the guest kernel access to a page with pte.w=0. We do that by setting spte.w=1, since the host cr0.wp must remain set so the host can write protect pages. 2010-06-09microblaze: Fix sg_dma_len() regressionFUJITA Tomonori1-1/+0
The commit "asm-generic: add NEED_SG_DMA_LENGTH to define sg_dma_len()" 18e98307de0d746cb0845ebf66535ce2184c25a2 broke microblaze compilation. dma_direct_map_sg() sets sg->dma_length, however microblaze doesn't set NEED_SG_DMA_LENGTH so scatterlist strcutres doesn't include dma_length. sg->dma_length is always equal to sg->length on microblaze. So we don't need to set set dma_length, that is, microblaze can simply use sg->length. Signed-off-by: FUJITA Tomonori <fujita.tomonori@lab.ntt.co.jp> Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>

2010-06-08ARM: 6164/1: Add kto and kfrom to input operands list.Khem Raj4-8/+8
When functions incoming parameters are not in input operands list gcc 4.5 does not load the parameters into registers before calling this function but the inline assembly assumes valid addresses inside this function. This breaks the code because r0 and r1 are invalid when execution enters v4wb_copy_user_page () Also the constant needs to be used as third input operand so account for that as well. 2010-06-08ARM: 6165/1: trap overflows on highmem pages from kmap_atomic when debuggingNicolas Pitre1-1/+10
When CONFIG_DEBUG_HIGHMEM is used, the fixmap entry used for a highmem page by kmap_atomic() is always cleared by kunmap_atomic(). This helps find bad usages such as dereferences after the unmap, or overflow into the adjacent fixmap areas. But this debugging aid is completely bypassed when a kmap for the same page already exists as the kmap is reused instead. ON VIVT systems we have no choice but to reuse that kmap due to cache coherency issues, but on non VIVT systems we should always force the fixmap usage when debugging is active. This change is the core kernel support for TILEPro and TILE64 chips. No driver support (except the console driver) is included yet. This includes the relevant Linux headers in asm/; the low-level low-level "Tile architecture" headers in arch/, which are shared with the hypervisor, etc., and are build-system agnostic; and the relevant hypervisor headers in hv/.
