2012-02-24net: Add framework to allow sending packets with customized CRC.Ben Greear1-0/+3
This is useful for testing RX handling of frames with bad CRCs. Requires driver support to actually put the packet on the wire properly. Signed-off-by: Ben Greear <greearb@candelatech.com> Tested-by: Aaron Brown <aaron.f.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Kirsher <jeffrey.t.kirsher@intel.com>
2012-02-22sock: Introduce the SO_PEEK_OFF sock optionPavel Emelyanov1-0/+1
This one specifies where to start MSG_PEEK-ing queue data from. When set to negative value means that MSG_PEEK works as ususally -- peeks from the head of the queue always. When some bytes are peeked from queue and the peeking offset is non negative it is moved forward so that the next peek will return next portion of data. When non-peeking recvmsg occurs and the peeking offset is non negative is is moved backward so that the next peek will still peek the proper data (i.e. the one that would have been picked if there were no non peeking recv in between). The offset is set using per-proto opteration to let the protocol handle the locking issues and to check whether the peeking offset feature is supported by the protocol the socket belongs to. 2012-02-04xtensa: fix memscan()Akinobu Mita1-3/+0
Defining memscan() as memchr() is wrong, because the return values of memscan() and memchr() are different when the character is not found. So use the generic memscan() implementation to fix this. 2012-01-18audit: inline audit_syscall_entry to reduce burden on archsEric Paris1-2/+1
Every arch calls: if (unlikely(current->audit_context)) audit_syscall_entry() which requires knowledge about audit (the existance of audit_context) in the arch code. Just do it all in static inline in audit.h so that arch's can remain blissfully ignorant. Signed-off-by: Eric Paris <eparis@redhat.com>

2012-01-12cpu: Register a generic CPU device on architectures that currently do notBen Hutchings1-0/+1
frv, h8300, m68k, microblaze, openrisc, score, um and xtensa currently do not register a CPU device. Add the config option GENERIC_CPU_DEVICES which causes a generic CPU device to be registered for each present CPU, and make all these architectures select it. 2012-01-07xtensa/PCI: convert to pci_scan_root_bus() for correct root bus resourcesBjorn Helgaas1-43/+42
Convert from pci_scan_bus() to pci_scan_root_bus() and remove root bus fixups. This fixes the problem of "early" and "header" quirks seeing incorrect root bus resources. This arch was unusual because it filled in bus->resource[0..3] in pcibios_init(), then overwrote them, applied io_space.offset and checked for unset resources in pcibios_fixup_bus(). I moved all of that to a new pci_controller_apertures() that we can use before scanning the root bus. 2012-01-07PCI: Xtensa: convert pcibios_set_master() to a non-inlined functionMyron Stowe2-5/+5
This patch converts Xtensa's architecture-specific 'pcibios_set_master()' routine to a non-inlined function. This will allow follow on patches to create a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak' attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which, if necessary, can then be over- ridden by architecture-specific code. Converting 'pci_bios_set_master()' to a non-inlined function will allow Xtensa's 'pcibios_set_master()' implementation to remain architecture-specific after the generic version is introduced and thus, not change current behavior. No functional change. Signed-off-by: Myron Stowe <myron.stowe@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>

2011-11-10net: add wireless TX status socket optionJohannes Berg1-0/+3
The 802.1X EAPOL handshake hostapd does requires knowing whether the frame was ack'ed by the peer. Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but injecting it with radiotap and getting the status out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and doesn't work with all hardware. To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX status option for data frame transmissions. This works similar to the existing TX timestamping in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has an int indicating ACK status (0/1). Since it is possible that at some point we will want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more than just the timestamp; keep the old constant as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard to split them up in a way that makes it possible. Thanks to Neil Horman for helping me figure out the functions that add the control messages. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: John W. 2011-10-05time: Cleanup old CONFIG_GENERIC_TIME references that snuck inJohn Stultz2-2/+0
Awhile back I removed all the CONFIG_GENERIC_TIME referecnes as the last of the non-GENERIC_TIME arches were converted. However, due to the functionality being important and around for awhile, there apparently were some out of tree hardware enablement patches that used it and have since been merged. 2011-07-27atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma1-1/+0
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h. Archs that need <asm-generic/atomic64.h> need to select CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it unconditionally). Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig. 2011-05-28ns: Wire up the setns system callEric W. Biederman1-1/+3
32bit and 64bit on x86 are tested and working. The rest I have looked at closely and I can't find any problems. setns is an easy system call to wire up. It just takes two ints so I don't expect any weird architecture porting problems. While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are very slow to get new system calls. cris seems to be the slowest where the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev. avr32 is weird in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h. frv is behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up. On h8300 the last system call wired up was epoll_wait. On m32r the last system call wired up was fallocate. mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system call wired up. The rest seem to at least have syncfs wired up which was new in the 2.6.39. v2: Most of the architecture support added by Daniel Lezcano <dlezcano@fr.ibm.com> v3: ported to v2.6.36-rc4 by: Eric W. 2011-05-25xtensa/mm: remove WANT_PAGE_VIRTUALSebastian Andrzej Siewior1-4/+0
This is not useful: it provides page->virtual and is used with highmem. xtensa has no support for highmem and those HIGHMEM bits which are found by grep are partly implemented. The interesting functions like kmap() are missing. If someone actually implements the complete HIGHMEM support he could use HASHED_PAGE_VIRTUAL like most others do. 2011-04-20xtensa: Fixup irq conversion fallout and nmi_countThomas Gleixner1-12/+6
Some unnamed moron fatfingered the arguments of the irq chip callbacks to irq_chip instead of irq_data. While at it remove the nmi_count() print in arch_show_interrupts() which has been broken before the irq conversion already. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
