2008-04-29powerpc: use non-racy method for proc entries creationDenis V. Lunev1-6/+2
Use proc_create()/proc_create_data() to make sure that ->proc_fops and ->data be setup before gluing PDE to main tree. Add correct ->owner to proc_fops to fix reading/module unloading race. 2007-12-20[POWERPC] iSeries: Fix unregistering HV event handlersStephen Rothwell1-1/+1
Commit fbd568a3e61a7decb8a754ad952aaa5b5c82e9e5 ("Change synchronize_kernel to _rcu and _sched") changed the deprecated synchronize_kernel() in HvLpEvent_unregisterHandler() to synchronize_rcu(). It turns out that it should have been synchronize_sched(). Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Acked-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2007-12-14[POWERPC] iSeries: don't printk with HV spinlock heldStephen Rothwell1-2/+15
Printk was observed to hang during module unload due to a limited window of characters that may be sent to the hypervisor. The window only reexpands when we receive an ack from the HV and the spinlock here prevents us from ever processing that ack. This fixes it by dropping the lock before doing the printk, then looping back to the top to reacquire the lock. 2007-07-26[POWERPC] iSeries: Fix section mismatch warning in lpeventsStephen Rothwell1-1/+1
WARNING: vmlinux.o(.text+0x4f568): Section mismatch: reference to .init.text:.__alloc_bootmem (between '.setup_hvlpevent_queue' and '.process_hvlpevents') setup_hvlpevent_queue is only called from __init code so make it __init as well. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 2Arjan van de Ven1-1/+1
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2007-01-09[POWERPC] iSeries: fix lpevents initialisationStephen Rothwell1-0/+4
/proc/iSeries/lpevents should only be created if we are running on legacy iSeries. Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-10-07[POWERPC] Fix up after irq changesOlaf Hering1-2/+2

2006-02-23[PATCH] powerpc: Initialise hvlpevent_queue.lock correctlyMichael Ellerman1-0/+2
When I changed the hvlpevent_queue code to use a spinlock instead of a custom atomic (719d1cd86780c156f954fc34f34481adac197aec) I didn't initialise the lock anywhere, oops. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <michael@ellerman.id.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

2005-10-24powerpc: iseries: Fix a bogus commentStephen Rothwell1-5/+1
A comment in lpevents.c refers to code that's actually in HvCallEvent.h. The code in HvCallEvent.h is pretty obvious, so just remove the comment altogether. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <michael@ellerman.id.au> Acked-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au>
