2023-04-20powerpc: drop HPC-NET/MPC8641D evaluation platform supportPaul Gortmaker1-98/+0
There is no denying that this was an interesting platform in its day. Access to a SMP powerpc platform became a bit more obtainable for folks in the BSP industry in the 2007 era, thanks to this platform. Add to that the move to the black Antec case vs. the generic white 2005 era case of the MPC8548CDS or the retro 1950s 1/2 height horizontal case of the HPC II, and it was pretty interesting to people like myself then. However, like all the other evaluation platforms, the overall system was complex out of necessity, as it tried to showcase all possible features and use-cases. That included an AMP option, where you could run two bootloaders and two kernels over two serial consoles. Peripheral sharing got a bit more tricky when you got to the hard disk and similar. In any case we still have the same circumstance. A relatively rare and expensive evaluation platform that is now 15+ years old and not out there in large numbers in the general public. Removal in 2023 just makes sense. ppc_md.calibrate_decr() is a mandatory item. Its nullity is never checked so it must be non null on all platforms. Most platforms define generic_calibrate_decr() as their ppc_md.calibrate_decr(). Have time_init() call generic_calibrate_decr() when ppc_md.calibrate_decr() is NULL, and remove default assignment from all machines. Now that we've switched all the powerpc nommu and swiotlb methods to use the generic dma_direct_* calls we can remove these ops vectors entirely and rely on the common direct mapping bypass that avoids indirect function calls entirely. This also allows to remove a whole lot of boilerplate code related to setting up these operations. 2016-07-21powerpc: Move 32-bit probe() machine to later in the boot processBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-4/+2
This converts all the 32-bit platforms to use the expanded device-tree which is a pretty mechanical change. Unlike 64-bit, the 32-bit kernel didn't rely on platform initializations to setup the MMU since it sets it up entirely before probe_machine() so the move has comparatively less consequences though it's a bigger patch. We unified the Freescale pci/pcie initialization by changing the fsl_pci to a platform driver. In previous PCI code architecture the initialization routine is called at board_setup_arch stage. Now the initialization is done in probe function which is architectural better. Also It's convenient for adding PM support for PCI controller in later patch. Now we registered pci controllers as platform devices. So we combine two initialization code as one platform driver. This is the final bit of code to allow enabling swiotlb on mpc86xx. The platform-specific code is very small and consists of enabling SWIOTLB in the config file, registering the swiotlb_setup_bus_notifier initcall, and setting pci_dma_ops to point to swiotlb_pci_dma_ops if we have more memory than can be mapped by the inbound PCI windows. Currently it doesn't matter where the mdio nodes are placed, but with power management support (i.e. when sleep = <> properties will take effect), mdio nodes placement will become important: mdio controller is a part of the ethernet block, so the mdio nodes should be placed correctly. Otherwise we may wrongly assume that MDIO controllers are available during sleep. 2008-10-22powerpc: Move memory size print into common show_cpuinfo for 32-bitBecky Bruce1-2/+0
Most of the platforms were printing the size of the memory in their show_cpuinfo implementations. This moves that to the common show_cpuinfo, so that all 32-bit platforms will now print the size of memory. I also update the code to deal with the fact that total_memory is now a phys_addr_t. - Get rid of uses_fsl_uli_m1575, it does not scale for all cases. Instead, let's explicitly use machine_is() for each fixup. - Factor out MPC8610HPCD quirks to fsl_uli1575, and protect them with machine_is(). One step closer to multiplatform kernels. - Actually use fsl_uli1575 on MPC8610HPCD, so RTC quirk will be applied. - RTC quirk applies to all boards though, so no machine_is() checks. 2008-04-17[POWERPC] 86xx: mpc86xx_hpcn - Temporarily accept old dts node identifier.Paul Gortmaker1-0/+6
As suggested by Timur Tabi, we match on the old compat node ID for one version and warn accordingly. If we don't do this, we plunge people who try to use an old DTB into silent boot death with no clear indication of what the problem is. This patch should be removed at the beginning of the 2.6.27 dev cycle. It is only meant to ease the transition in the short term. On the Freescale embedded (83xx, 85xx, 86xx) and a few of the discrete bridges (mpc10x, tsi108) use the new for_each_compatible_node() or for_each_node_by_type() to provide more exact matching when looking for PHBs in the device tree. Fixed up the device tree's to actual conform for to specification and changed the interrupt mapping code so it just uses a static mapping setup as follows: PIRQA - IRQ9 PIRQB - IRQ10 PIRQC - IRQ11 PIRQD - IRQ12 USB 1.1 OCHI (1c.0) - IRQ12 USB 1.1 OCHI (1c.1) - IRQ9 USB 1.1 OCHI (1c.2) - IRQ10 USB 1.1 ECHI (1c.3) - IRQ11 LAN (1b.0) - IRQ6 AC97 (1d.0) - IRQ6 Modem (1d.1) - IRQ6 HD Audio (1d.2) - IRQ6 SATA (1f.1) - IRQ5 SMB (1e.1) - IRQ7 PMU (1e.2) - IRQ7 PATA (1f.0) - IRQ14/15 Took the oppurtunity to refactor the code into a single file so we don't have to duplicate these fixes on the two current boards in the tree and several forth coming boards that will also need the code. Fixed RTC support that requires a dummy memory read on the P2P bridge to unlock the RTC and setup the default of the RTC alarm registers to match with a basic x86 style CMOS RTC. Moved code that poked ISA registers to a FIXUP_FINAL quirk to ensure the PCI IO space has been setup properly before we start poking ISA registers at random locations. On the 85xx/86xx PCIe controllers if there is no device connected to the PHB we will still allocate a pci_bus for downstream bus of the virtual P2P bridge.
