2015-09-03MIPS: IP27: Migrate to new 'set-state' interfaceViresh Kumar1-7/+0
Migrate sgidriver to the new 'set-state' interface provided by clockevents core, the earlier 'set-mode' interface is marked obsolete now. This also enables us to implement callbacks for new states of clockevent devices, for example: ONESHOT_STOPPED. We weren't doing anything in the ->set_mode() callback. So, this patch doesn't provide any set-state callbacks. 2013-07-15MIPS: Delete __cpuinit/__CPUINIT usage from MIPS codePaul Gortmaker1-3/+3
commit 3747069b25e419f6b51395f48127e9812abc3596 upstream. The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time") is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created with improper use of the various __init prefixes. After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone, we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h. Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c) and are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from the arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings. As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit related content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless. Here, we remove all the MIPS __cpuinit from C code and __CPUINIT from asm files. MIPS is interesting in this respect, because there are also uasm users hiding behind their own renamed versions of the __cpuinit macros. 2006-12-06[MIPS] Compile __do_IRQ() when really neededFranck Bui-Huu1-5/+0
__do_IRQ() is needed only by irq handlers that can't use default handlers defined in kernel/irq/chip.c. For others platforms there's no need to compile this function since it won't be used. For those platforms this patch defines GENERIC_HARDIRQS_NO__DO_IRQ symbol which is used exactly for this purpose. Futhermore for platforms which do not use __do_IRQ(), end() method which is part of the 'irq_chip' structure is not used. This patch simply removes this method in this case. This is a big irq cleanup patch. * Use set_irq_chip() to register irq_chip. * Initialize .mask, .unmask, .mask_ack field. Functions for these method are already exist in most case. * Do not initialize .startup, .shutdown, .enable, .disable fields if default routines provided by irq_chip_set_defaults() were suitable. * Remove redundant irq_desc initializations. * Remove unnecessary local_irq_save/local_irq_restore, spin_lock. With this cleanup, it would be easy to switch to slightly lightwait irq flow handlers (handle_level_irq(), etc.) instead of __do_IRQ(). Though whole this patch is quite large, changes in each irq_chip are not quite simple. Please review and test on your platform. Thanks. With 2.6.18-rc4-mm2, now wall_jiffies will always be the same as jiffies. So we can kill wall_jiffies completely. This is just a cleanup and logically should not change any real behavior except for one thing: RTC updating code in (old) ppc and xtensa use a condition "jiffies - wall_jiffies == 1". This condition is never met so I suppose it is just a bug. I just remove that condition only instead of kill the whole "if" block. 2006-09-29[PATCH] simplify update_times (avoid jiffies/jiffies_64 aliasing problem)Atsushi Nemoto1-1/+1
Pass ticks to do_timer() and update_times(), and adjust x86_64 and s390 timer interrupt handler with this change. Currently update_times() calculates ticks by "jiffies - wall_jiffies", but callers of do_timer() should know how many ticks to update. Passing ticks get rid of this redundant calculation. Also there are another redundancy pointed out by Martin Schwidefsky. This cleanup make a barrier added by 5aee405c662ca644980c184774277fc6d0769a84 needless. So this patch removes it. As a bonus, this cleanup make wall_jiffies can be removed easily, since now wall_jiffies is always synced with jiffies. (This patch does not really remove wall_jiffies. This patch cleans up a commonly repeated set of changes to the NTP state variables by adding two helper inline functions: ntp_clear(): Clears the ntp state variables ntp_synced(): Returns 1 if the system is synced with a time server. This was compile tested for alpha, arm, i386, x86-64, ppc64, s390, sparc, sparc64. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
