2011-04-14sched: Provide scheduler_ipi() callback in response to smp_send_reschedule()Peter Zijlstra1-0/+4
For future rework of try_to_wake_up() we'd like to push part of that function onto the CPU the task is actually going to run on. In order to do so we need a generic callback from the existing scheduler IPI. This patch introduces such a generic callback: scheduler_ipi() and implements it as a NOP. 2009-09-24cpumask: arch_send_call_function_ipi_mask: mipsRusty Russell1-2/+2
We're weaning the core code off handing cpumask's around on-stack. This introduces arch_send_call_function_ipi_mask(), and by defining it, the old arch_send_call_function_ipi is defined by the core code. We also take the chance to wean the implementations off the obsolescent for_each_cpu_mask(): making send_ipi_mask take the pointer seemed the most natural way to ensure all implementations used for_each_cpu. 2008-12-13cpumask: centralize cpu_online_map and cpu_possible_mapRusty Russell1-3/+3
Impact: cleanup Each SMP arch defines these themselves. Move them to a central location. Twists: 1) Some archs (m32, parisc, s390) set possible_map to all 1, so we add a CONFIG_INIT_ALL_POSSIBLE for this rather than break them. 2) mips and sparc32 '#define cpu_possible_map phys_cpu_present_map'. Those archs simply have phys_cpu_present_map replaced everywhere. 3) Alpha defined cpu_possible_map to cpu_present_map; this is tricky so I just manipulate them both in sync. 4) IA64, cris and m32r have gratuitous 'extern cpumask_t cpu_possible_map' declarations. This patch includes: * MIPS clocksource support (based on works by Manish Lachwani). * remove unused gettimeoffset routines and related codes. * remove unised 64bit do_div64_32(). * simplify mips_hpt_init. (no argument needed, __init tag) * simplify c0_hpt_timer_init. (no need to write to c0_count) * remove some hpt_init routines. * mips_hpt_mask variable to specify bitmask of hpt value. * convert jmr3927_do_gettimeoffset to jmr3927_hpt_read. * convert ip27_do_gettimeoffset to ip27_hpt_read. * convert bcm1480_do_gettimeoffset to bcm1480_hpt_read. * simplify sb1250 hpt functions. 2006-02-27[MIPS] SMP: Fix initialization order bug.Ralf Baechle1-18/+6
A recent change requires cpu_possible_map to be initialized before smp_sched_init() but most MIPS platforms were initializing their processors in the prom_prepare_cpus callback of smp_prepare_cpus. The simple fix of calling prom_prepare_cpus from one of the earlier SMP initialization hooks doesn't work well either since IPIs may require init_IRQ() to have completed, so bit the bullet and split prom_prepare_cpus into two initialization functions, plat_smp_setup which is called early from setup_arch and plat_prepare_cpus called where prom_prepare_cpus used to be called. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
