2018-11-21MIPS: malta: Use img-ascii-lcd driver for LCD displayPaul Burton1-3/+0
Remove the Malta display platform code in favour of probing the img-ascii-lcd driver via device tree. This reduces the amount of platform code & the img-ascii-lcd driver offers us advantages in terms of code sharing with other boards & functionality such as changing the displayed message via sysfs. Defconfigs are untouched because the driver already defaults y on when CONFIG_MIPS_MALTA=y. 2017-08-30MIPS: CPS: Have asm/mips-cps.h include CM & CPC headersPaul Burton1-2/+1
With Coherence Manager (CM) 3.5 information about the topology of the system, which has previously only been available through & accessed from the CM, is now also provided by the Cluster Power Controller (CPC). This includes a new CPC_CONFIG register mirroring GCR_CONFIG, and similarly a new CPC_Cx_CONFIG register mirroring GCR_Cx_CONFIG. In preparation for adjusting functions such as mips_cm_numcores(), which have previously only needed to access the CM, to also access the CPC this patch modifies the way we use the various CPS headers. Rather than having users include asm/mips-cm.h or asm/mips-cpc.h individually we instead have users include asm/mips-cps.h which in turn includes asm/mips-cm.h & asm/mips-cpc.h. This means that users will gain access to both CM & CPC registers by including one header, and most importantly it makes asm/mips-cps.h an ideal location for helper functions which need to access the various components of the CPS. 2016-10-06MIPS: Malta: Allow PCI devices DMA to lower 2GB physicalPaul Burton1-10/+7
Set the PCI_BAR0 register in all configurations such that PCI devices can perform DMA to all of the bottom 2GB of the physical address space. This is imperfect if we make use of the legacy Malta memory map, but it is an improvement on the inconsistent values setup before. 2016-02-09MIPS: Fix early CM probingPaul Burton1-8/+0
Commit c014d164f21d ("MIPS: Add platform callback before initializing the L2 cache") added a platform_early_l2_init function in order to allow platforms to probe for the CM before L2 initialisation is performed, so that CM GCRs are available to mips_sc_probe. That commit actually fails to do anything useful, since it checks mips_cm_revision to determine whether it should call mips_cm_probe but the result of mips_cm_revision will always be 0 until mips_cm_probe has been called. Thus the "early" mips_cm_probe call never occurs. Fix this & drop the useless weak platform_early_l2_init function by simply calling mips_cm_probe from setup_arch. For platforms that don't select CONFIG_MIPS_CM this will be a no-op, and for those that do it removes the requirement for them to call mips_cm_probe manually (although doing so isn't harmful for now). 2015-11-11MIPS: Malta: Register UP SMP ops if all else failsPaul Burton1-0/+1
If we fail to register any real SMP implementations, fall back to registering the dummy UP implementation. Otherwise when we build an SMP kernel & run it on a system where the SMP implementations fail to probe (eg. QEMU) the kernel will perform a NULL dereference attempting to call mp_ops->smp_setup() from plat_smp_setup(). Notably this fixes booting kernels with CPS SMP enabled on QEMU, which doesn't currently implement the CM, CPC or GIC. setup_earlycon() will now match and register the desired earlycon from the param string (as if 'earlycon=...' had been set on the command line). 2014-05-24MIPS: MT: Remove SMTC supportRalf Baechle1-6/+0
Nobody is maintaining SMTC anymore and there also seems to be no userbase. Which is a pity - the SMTC technology primarily developed by Kevin D. Kissell <kevink@paralogos.com> is an ingenious demonstration for the MT ASE's power and elegance. Based on Markos Chandras <Markos.Chandras@imgtec.com> patch https://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/6719/ which while very similar did no longer apply cleanly when I tried to merge it plus some additional post-SMTC cleanup - SMTC was a feature as tricky to remove as it was to merge once upon a time. 2014-03-27MIPS: Malta: Allow use of MIPS CPS SMP implementationPaul Burton1-0/+2
This patch simply attempts to register the MIPS Coherent Processing System SMP implementation when it is enabled. If registering that fails for some reason (like the Kconfig option being disabled or a lack of hardware support) then we fall back to the same SMP implementations as before. 2014-01-23MIPS: Malta: use generic 8250 early consolePaul Burton1-25/+33
This patch switches Malta from using the MIPS implementation of early printk with Malta's prom_putchar to using the generic 8250_early implementation. This offers a couple of advantages: - We duplicate less generic code. - The UART can be initialised rather than being reliant upon inheriting a valid setup from the bootloader. The Malta console_config function is extended to initialise the early console if no earlycon= kernel parameter is provided, inheriting the modetty0 bootloader environment if present and falling back to a default 38400n8r setup if not. This matches the behaviour used for the regular console= parameter. 2011-07-21MIPS: Malta: Fix crash in SMP kernel on non-CMP systems.Ralf Baechle1-7/+7
Since 6be63bbbdab66b9185dc6f67c8b1bacb6f37f946 (lmo) rsp. af3a1f6f4813907e143f87030cde67a9971db533 (kernel.org) the Malta code does no longer probe for presence of GCMP if CMP is not configured. This means that the variable gcmp_present well be left at its default value of -1 which normally is meant to indicate that GCMP has not yet been mmapped. This non-zero value is now interpreted as GCMP being present resulting in a write attempt to a GCMP register resulting in a crash.
