2022-05-23eth: de4x5: remove support for Generic DECchip & DIGITAL EtherWORKS PCI/EISAJakub Kicinski1-1/+0
Looks like almost all changes to this driver had been tree-wide refactoring since git era begun. There is one commit from Al 15 years ago which could potentially be fixing a real bug. The driver is using virt_to_bus() and is a real magnet for pointless cleanups. It seems unlikely to have real users. Let's try to shed this maintenance burden. 2022-04-08net: atm: remove the ambassador driverJakub Kicinski2-2/+0
The driver for ATM Ambassador devices spews build warnings on microblaze. The virt_to_bus() calls discard the volatile keyword. The right thing to do would be to migrate this driver to a modern DMA API but it seems unlikely anyone is actually using it. There had been no fixes or functional changes here since the git era begun. In fact it sounds like the FW loading was broken from 2008 'til 2012 - see commit fcdc90b025e6 ("atm: forever loop loading ambassador firmware"). Let's remove this driver, there isn't much changing in the APIs, if users come forward we can apologize and revert. 2022-02-09MIPS: Malta: Enable BLK_DEV_INITRDNathan Chancellor1-0/+1
This configuration is useful for boot testing malta_defconfig in QEMU with just a simple cpio initrd, instead of a full ext4 rootfs. This results in an increase of ~164KB of vmlinux (with GCC 11.2.0): $ diskus vmlinux.before 11.19 MB (11,194,368 bytes) $ diskus vmlinux.after 11.36 MB (11,358,208 bytes) This size increase comes from the fact that usr/Kconfig is sourced when CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD is enabled, which defaults to supporting several decompression algorithms for compressed initrds. This seems like a reasonable tradeoff but these configurations could be disabled in the future if there are complaints about the size increase. 2021-03-10MIPS: Enable some missed configs in loongson3_defconfig to support bpftraceTiezhu Yang1-1/+6
bpftrace is a high-level tracing language for Linux enhanced Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) available in recent Linux kernels (4.x). bpftrace uses LLVM as a backend to compile scripts to BPF-bytecode and makes use of BCC for interacting with the Linux BPF system, as well as existing Linux tracing capabilities: kernel dynamic tracing (kprobes), user-level dynamic tracing (uprobes), and tracepoints. According to Linux Kernel Requirements in bpftrace/INSTALL.md [1], the kernel needs to be built with the following options: CONFIG_BPF=y CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL=y CONFIG_BPF_JIT=y CONFIG_HAVE_EBPF_JIT=y CONFIG_BPF_EVENTS=y CONFIG_FTRACE_SYSCALLS=y CONFIG_FUNCTION_TRACER=y CONFIG_HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE=y CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE=y CONFIG_HAVE_KPROBES=y CONFIG_KPROBES=y CONFIG_KPROBE_EVENTS=y CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_UPROBES=y CONFIG_UPROBES=y CONFIG_UPROBE_EVENTS=y CONFIG_DEBUG_FS=y So enable some missed configs in loongson3_defconfig to make sure the above configs are set after make loongson3_defconfig. These export types were introduced between 2006 - 2008. All the of the unused symbols have been long removed and gpl future symbols were converted to gpl quite a long time ago, and I don't believe these export types have been used ever since. So, I think it should be safe to retire those export types now (Christoph Hellwig) - Refactor and clean up some aged code cruft in the module loader (Christoph Hellwig) - Build {,module_}kallsyms_on_each_symbol only when livepatching is enabled, as it is the only caller (Christoph Hellwig) - Unexport find_module() and module_mutex and fix the last module callers to not rely on these anymore. 2021-01-04MIPS: Loongson64: Give chance to build under !CONFIG_NUMA and !CONFIG_SMPTiezhu Yang1-0/+2
In the current code, we can not build under !CONFIG_NUMA and !CONFIG_SMP on the Loongson64 platform, it seems bad for the users who just want to use pure single core (not nosmp) to debug, so do the following things to give them a chance: (1) Do not select NUMA and SMP for MACH_LOONGSON64 in Kconfig, make NUMA depends on SMP, and then just set them in the loongson3_defconfig. (2) Move szmem() from numa.c to init.c and add prom_init_memory() under !CONFIG_NUMA. (3) Clean up szmem() due to the statements of case SYSTEM_RAM_LOW and SYSTEM_RAM_HIGH are the same. (4) Remove the useless declaration of prom_init_memory() and add the declaration of szmem() in loongson.h to avoid build error.
