2022-09-19MIPS: BCM47XX: Cast memcmp() of function to (void *)Kees Cook1-2/+2
Clang is especially sensitive about argument type matching when using __overloaded functions (like memcmp(), etc). Help it see that function pointers are just "void *". Avoids this error: arch/mips/bcm47xx/prom.c:89:8: error: no matching function for call to 'memcmp' if (!memcmp(prom_init, prom_init + mem, 32)) ^~~~~~ include/linux/string.h:156:12: note: candidate function not viable: no known conversion from 'void (void)' to 'const void *' for 1st argument extern int memcmp(const void *,const void *,__kernel_size_t); Cc: Hauke Mehrtens <hauke@hauke-m.de> Cc: "Rafał Miłecki" <zajec5@gmail.com> Cc: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> Cc: linux-mips@vger.kernel.org Cc: Nathan Chancellor <nathan@kernel.org> Cc: Nick Desaulniers <ndesaulniers@google.com> Cc: llvm@lists.linux.dev Reported-by: kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/202209080652.sz2d68e5-lkp@intel.com Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>

2021-01-07MIPS: Remove empty prom_free_prom_memory functionsThomas Bogendoerfer1-4/+0
Most of the prom_free_prom_memory functions are empty. With a new weak prom_free_prom_memory() we can remove all of them. Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> Acked-by: Florian Fainelli <f.fainelli@gmail.com>
2020-10-12MIPS: replace add_memory_region with memblockThomas Bogendoerfer1-1/+2
add_memory_region was the old interface for registering memory and was already changed to used memblock internaly. Replace it by directly calling memblock functions. Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>
2015-06-21MIPS: BCM77xx: Remove legacy __cpuinit{,data} sections that crept inPaul Gortmaker1-1/+1
We removed __cpuinit support (leaving no-op stubs) quite some time ago. However a few more crept in as of commit 6ee1d93455384cef8a0426effe85da2 ("MIPS: BCM47XX: Detect more then 128 MiB of RAM (HIGHMEM)") Since we want to clobber the stubs soon, get this removed now. 2014-07-31MIPS: BCM47XX: Detect more then 128 MiB of RAM (HIGHMEM)Rafał Miłecki1-1/+67
So far BCM47XX can only detect amount of HIGHMEM. It still requires adding (registering) and well-testing before enabling by default. Patch was tested on devices with 64 MiB and 256 MiB of RAM. 2014-01-22MIPS: BCM47XX: add EARLY_PRINTK_8250 supportHauke Mehrtens1-0/+9
The BCM47xx SoCs have a 8250 serial compatible console at address 0x18000300 and an other at 0x18000400. On most devices 0x18000300 is wired to some pins on the board, we should use that. This is the smae for the AI (bcma) and the SB (ssb) bus, this is some offset on the chip common core. 2014-01-22MIPS: BCM47XX: Remove CFE supportHauke Mehrtens1-91/+0
bcm47xx only uses the CFE code for early print to a console, but that is also possible with a early print serial 8250 driver. The CFE api init causes hangs somewhere in prom_init_cfe() on some devices like the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 and the Asus WL-520GU. This was reported in https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/4061 and https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=17063 This will remove all the CFE handling code from bcm47xx. 2014-01-22MIPS: BCM47XX: only print SoC name in system type in cpuinfoHauke Mehrtens1-22/+9
Recently the output of "system type" in /proc/cpuinfo was changed to Broadcom BCM4730 (Some sample board), but it is better to just print the SoC name in the "system type" entry. The board name will be added in the machine entry later. 2012-11-09MIPS: BCM47XX: improve memory size detectionHauke Mehrtens1-4/+6
The memory size is detected by finding a place where it repeats in memory. Currently we are just checking when the function prom_init is seen again, but it is better to check for a bigger part of the memory to decrease the chance of wrong results. This should fix a problem we saw in OpenWrt, where the detected available memory decreed on some devices when doing a soft reboot. 2012-11-09MIPS: BCM47XX: ignore last memory pageHauke Mehrtens1-0/+10
Ignoring the last page when ddr size is 128M. Cached accesses to last page is causing the processor to prefetch using address above 128M stepping out of the ddr address space. 2010-08-05MIPS: BCM47xx: Really fix 128MB RAM problemHauke Mehrtens1-8/+14
The previous patch 4a86f2d27733f610e642649aca3e82e86fca9e22 (lmo) rsp. 84a6fcb368a080620d12fc4d79e07902dbee7335 (kernel.org) was wrong. The BCM47xx architecture maps the ram into a 128MB address space. It will be spaced there as often as goes into the 128MB. Detection tries to find the position where the same memory is found. When reading beyond 128MB the processor will throw an exception. If 128MB RAM is installed, it will not find a memory alias because it tries to read beyond the 128MB border. Now it just assumes 128MB installed ram if it can not find an alias. 2009-12-17MIPS: Replace all usages of CL_SIZE by COMMAND_LINE_SIZEDmitri Vorobiev1-5/+5
The MIPS-specific macro CL_SIZE is merely aliasing the macro COMMAND_LINE_SIZE. Other architectures use the latter; also, COMMAND_LINE_SIZE is documented in kernel-parameters.txt, so let's use it, and remove the alias. 2009-11-13MIPS: Make local arrays with CL_SIZE static __initdataAtsushi Nemoto1-1/+1
Since commit 22242681cff52bfb7cba5d2a37b91802be7a4e4c ("MIPS: Extend COMMAND_LINE_SIZE"), CL_SIZE is 4096 and local array variables with this size will cause an build failure with default CONFIG_FRAME_WARN settings. Although current users of such array variables are all early bootstrap code and not likely to cause real stack overflow (thread_info corruption), it is preferable to to declare these arrays static with __initdata.
